Chapter 1235: Chapter 1234: The Sharp Brother Xiao Rui
Luo Yirui might not have realized his own peril while being amidst it, but those on the opposite side did, breaking out in cold sweat on his behalf.
Just as the shelves were crashing down, the Vertical Pupils swarmed forward. At the moment when Luo Yirui sprang up, there was a hand raised high, attempting to pull him back. Had he delayed even two seconds, he would have been dragged down and devoured by the Vertical Pupils!
Luo Yirui felt he managed his timings well, constantly stepping on the top of the shelves. Each topple seemed to pave a path for him, while the Vertical Pupils behind him started climbing upwards along the slope. Due to their weight, the shelves were falling even faster!
There weren’t many shelves in total. When the last row of shelves collapsed onto the pile of goods, the descent halted, smoothly paving a way for Luo Yirui, yet providing convenience to the Vertical Pupils as well.
"Run outside!" Luo Yirui shouted loudly upon seeing everyone still in a daze.
Fei Yunqing was the first to react, picking up a child beside him and running toward the small window, while Little Fatty quickly called three teenagers to run towards the small window.
Luo Yirui was already stepping on the pile of goods, while the Vertical Pupils were climbing over the first row of shelves, advancing toward them.
However, the window was too small and there were too many people. Plus, it was very high, so to get down, they had to use a rope or something similar—something Luo Yirui had already considered at the beginning of their escape, as luckily, there were many scattered ropes right on top of the goods pile here.
Fei Yunqing, holding a teenager, picked up a rope with one hand, searching for a place to secure it, while Luo Yirui had already taken the rope over and tied it to the shelf pressed against the side of the goods pile.
"Is it okay?" Fei Yunqing asked.
"No problem. They no longer know how to untie the rope." Luo Yirui replied calmly, though the sorrowful undertone was unmistakably conveyed.
"Go down one by one, don’t rush!" Luo Yirui lifted his head to look at the two teenagers scrambling to reach the small window, his gaze somewhat sharp.
These two teenagers were several years older than Luo Yirui. Under normal circumstances, one of them alone would be hard enough for someone like Luo Yirui to handle. Yet now, upon meeting Luo Yirui’s gaze, the two shivered all over, not daring to fight anymore.
Under Luo Yirui’s command, the teenagers descended one by one to the ground, followed by Little Fatty. He glanced back at Luo Yirui, seeing that the Vertical Pupils were nearly climbing over the shelves, he shouted, "Brother Xiao Rui, I’ll wait for you down here."
With that, he swiftly slid down the rope, his speed determining how soon Luo Yirui could descend.
Fei Yunqing noticed Luo Yirui standing on the pile of goods, clearly wary of the Vertical Pupils charging over—ready to block them if need be. At that moment, watching the little guy’s back, he inexplicably felt a sense of trust and grandeur.
This feeling made Fei Yunqing deeply ashamed. Despite being an adult, despite once thinking of himself as a prodigy, compared to now, not to mention Beisitian, even Luo Yirui had surpassed him far off.
Fei Yunqing knew talking to him was useless, hurriedly grabbed him, and brought him to the small window, saying, "You go down first, I’ll be last," as Luo Yirui was still taken aback.
Looking at his turning back, the lines on Luo Yirui’s face softened a bit, then he turned and slid down the rope.
