I Became a Cub in the Elven Kingdom

Chapter 159: The Fire Spirit’s Approval.

“Sharo!” Shu Li flew over to him and asked, “Where have you been?”

Ever since leaving the Fire God’s Mark with Falm in the middle of the night, Sharo had been nowhere to be seen all day.

“I went to catch up with Fenlis,” Sharo replied.

“Fenlis?” Shu Li tilted his head. “The wood spirit?”

No wonder he had disappeared for the entire day.

The elemental spirits shared a close relationship. After ten thousand years apart, they must have had endless things to discuss.

“Fenlis told me that you possess exceptional talent for magic and taught yourself silent casting without an instructor,” Sharo said.

“I still needed an elemental spirit’s acknowledgment first.” Shu Li gazed expectantly at the fire spirit. “Do I have your acknowledgment now?”

“Of course.” Sharo smiled. “You possess the Fire God’s Mark. Even without my acknowledgment, you can command any flame.”

Only half convinced, Shu Li tentatively extended a finger and silently recited the incantation for a low-level fire spell. In the blink of an eye, a tiny fireball appeared above his fingertip.

It worked!

He was overjoyed.

His silent fire magic activated even faster than his silent wood magic. It was almost instantaneous.

Incredible!

If things continued at this rate, once he collected the essences of the remaining three elements, would he be capable of truly instantaneous casting?

He remembered how the Fire God had unleashed a terrifying sea of flames during battle without reciting a single incantation, engulfing the entire army of darkness.

Sharo watched the Little Fairy reveling in his joy and found himself wholeheartedly agreeing with Fenlis. Sperien truly was an extraordinary Little Fairy.

Even after receiving an elemental spirit’s acknowledgment, the Elven King himself would have found it difficult to learn silent casting so quickly.

For Sperien to master Silent Purification at only five years old was unprecedented.

Sharo had waited in the underground palace for ten thousand years. Unlike Fenlis, who had fought beside the Elven King, he was not intimately familiar with certain matters.

Only after speaking with her did he finally understand why the Fire God had instructed him and Falm to stand guard inside the underground palace for ten thousand years.

The Fire God must have recognized Sperien’s extraordinary nature and glimpsed the future while speaking with him after his transmigration.

“From now on, like Fenlis, I will always be at your command.” Sharo bowed slightly to the Little Fairy. “Good night, Sperien.”

“Good night, Sharo.” Shu Li extinguished the little fireball and looked at him sincerely. “Thank you.”

Sharo glanced toward the bed. “Please take good care of Falm.”

Shu Li scratched the back of his head. “As long as he doesn’t cause trouble, that won’t be a problem.”

Sharo winked at him and, to Shu Li’s surprise, taught him an incantation.

“Whenever he misbehaves, you may confine him inside the Fire God’s Mark. Do not release him until he admits his mistake.”

“Got it!” Shu Li grinned mischievously.

So he could do that!

Who would have thought that the refined-looking fire spirit possessed such a quietly devious side? No wonder Falm was so thoroughly under his control.

Curled up beneath the blankets and sleeping soundly, Falm had no idea that the fire spirit had just betrayed him.

Having finished his instructions, the fire spirit’s phantom dissolved into motes of starlight and vanished into the air.

Shu Li rubbed his aching eyes and went to the bathroom to wash. Once he had cleaned himself up, he turned off the lights and climbed into bed.

Early the next morning, just as the first light appeared on the horizon, Sayah awakened the four Little Fairies.

They had to return to the divine tree today.

Just as they had on the journey there, the Little Fairies shrank themselves and hid among Dore’s thick feathers. Still half asleep, they were carried back to the divine tree.

The sun had already risen by the time they arrived. The divine tree was gradually coming alive, and the early-rising Fairies had begun another busy day. Dore landed lightly on the school’s training field, and the Little Fairies arriving for class excitedly gathered around him.

“Sperien and the others are back!”

Someone shouted, and more and more Fairy students crowded onto the field.

Shu Li woke groggily and was startled to discover that an enormous group of Little Fairies had gathered around them.

“Hey, wake up! We’re at school!” He dismissed the defensive barrier that had shielded them from the wind, awakened his three friends, and climbed down from Dore’s back.

“Hi! Good morning!” Shu Li greeted his Fairy classmates.

“Good morning!” The Little Fairies around him excitedly pounced, hugged him tightly, and stared at him with shining eyes. “Why were you gone for so long? It’s been almost a week!”

“Siet said you went to meet a human Saint Mage. What was he like? Was he ancient, with white hair and a face covered in a white beard?”

“What happened to the coffin? Was the human Saint Mage willing to help?”

The Little Fairies chattered over one another, asking question after question until Shu Li had no idea which one to answer first.

He was not the only one surrounded. Angel and Disio were also hemmed in so tightly that not even water could have passed through. Only the drowsy Budno escaped their attention.

“Let’s go back to the classroom first, and then we’ll tell you everything!” Shu Li rubbed his stomach and said pitifully, “We haven’t even eaten breakfast yet!”

To save time, they had deliberately returned early enough to eat at the divine tree.

The moment Budno heard the word breakfast, his eyes snapped open, and he looked around eagerly. “Is it time to eat? Hurry! I’m starving!”

The other Little Fairies burst into laughter and escorted them to the dining hall.

Numerous Fairy students were enjoying a lavish breakfast inside. When Sperien and the group of young Fairies entered, everyone tacitly stopped eating and followed them with their eyes.

Shu Li’s sharp gaze immediately spotted Kumandi, the quiet top student. Flapping his wings, he flew over, took a letter from his storage ring, and held it out.

“Kumandi, this is for you!”

“A letter?” The black-haired Fairy looked down at the beautiful but unfamiliar wax seal on the envelope and did not accept it immediately. “Who is it from?”

Shu Li’s eyes curved with his radiant smile. “It’s a recommendation letter to the magic academy from Mage Sovereign Danlov!”

Not only Kumandi but all the other Fairies in the dining hall looked surprised.

“Danlov advanced to Mage Sovereign?” Kumandi asked.

Shu Li blinked. He truly admitted defeat before this quiet top student. Kumandi always focused on something completely different from everyone else.

“Yes! Danlov successfully broke through his bottleneck yesterday and became the only human Mage Sovereign!” Shu Li held the letter out a little farther. “I asked him to write this recommendation letter to the magic academy for you.”

Kumandi accepted ✧ NоvеIight ✧ (Original source) it and studied the elegant writing in the Continental Common Language on the envelope. After a moment’s thought, he asked, “Why did you request one for me? Didn’t you ask for one for yourself?”

“I already have one!” Shu Li said as though it were obvious. “And I asked for yours because you’re amazing, Kumandi!”

Warmth entered Kumandi’s violet eyes. He accepted the recommendation letter solemnly. “Thank you.”

“Hehehe, you’re welcome.” Shu Li laughed happily.

Karola draped an arm around Kumandi’s shoulders. “Little Sperien, did you ask Danlov for a recommendation letter for me too?”

“No,” Shu Li replied without hesitation. “If you were as impressive as Kumandi, I might have asked.”

Karola, who had only advanced to Junior Mage at twenty, suffered ten thousand points of damage.

The other Fairies laughed good-naturedly.

Little Fairies were innocent by nature and did not grow jealous over things like this. Instead, they were all intensely envious and resolved to obtain recommendation letters from the human Mage Sovereign someday too.

“We have them as well!” Disio, Angel, and Budno gleefully produced their recommendation letters.

Karola’s eyes widened. Pointing at them, he demanded of Shu Li, “Why do they have recommendation letters?”

“Because they invited Danlov to dance!” Shu Li spread his hands, then added, “And they danced the woman’s part.”

“Hehehe—” The three Little Fairies flashed their white teeth. Disio, who had chaotically danced the man’s part, and Budno, who had received a recommendation letter without dancing at all, grinned especially brightly.

Karola covered his forehead, conceding utter defeat.
