I Am Your Natural Enemy
Chapter 1266: Twilight Street, Huafu Dajiang (5k)_2
This time, it can actually be seen as the same method, just triggered in a noticeably different way.
If Wen Yan’s current integrated information and the speculative information are correct, can Er Jingong survive in Wugu Town at this level? And get out of here?
His luck must be extraordinarily good.
Wen Yan looked at the nervous Er Jingong.
“You should be able to tell, right? Does this place look exactly like what you saw over twenty years ago?”
“Yes…” Er Jingong replied anxiously, rubbing his hands continuously. He had also seen some abnormal things and knew about the Scorching Sun Department; of course, he knew that nearly thirty years of development in the Divine Land couldn’t look exactly like it did back then.
There’s no other explanation besides an alternate dimension.
“Then you should also know, people like you, who know a bit too much, are bound to be silenced sooner or later.”
Er Jingong opened his mouth, finally nodding resignedly.
In this line of work, one always has to pay back somehow.
This was a truth they had understood from the first day they started in the life.
He just never expected to be hacked to death or run over by a truck, let alone end up like this.
No need for Wen Yan to explain; he knew he was currently being silenced.
“Tell me everything you know, even the tiniest details, including how many times you went to the restroom during the cargo transport, whether the bathroom wall tiles had any patterns, and everything else you can remember. You should understand, whether we can return alive this time is unknown. I need to know all possible useful and useless details. Even if we die, as long as we can send back the information and take down the people behind this. At least you won’t have to worry about your family anymore; even if you die, you won’t meet an ignoble end. Don’t mind me being straightforward; in this situation, if we beat around the bush, we’ll all die together.”
Wen Yan spoke bluntly, calming Er Jingong’s panicked mind somewhat.
At least for now, Wen Yan appeared heavy-minded, his gaze constantly scanning and monitoring movements in all directions, appearing not nearly as panicked as Er Jingong.
He now considers Wen Yan’s words to be absolutely trustworthy.
Beyond feeling that Wen Yan wouldn’t orchestrate such a big event for him, he really believed he’d be silenced, and even more so believed that the powers behind him would silence him in such a manner.
Er Jingong steadied his nerves, staying with Wen Yan and recalling experiences he could never forget, retelling everything in detail from the beginning.
While listening and recording, Wen Yan’s attention was elsewhere.
It should be the evening in the small town now; although the street appeared desolate, the atmosphere didn’t seem bleak. Wen Yan could inexplicably sense a vitality here.
It felt like numerous people were coming and going, the shops along the road had patrons shouting, and fragrance wafted from the street-side restaurants.
Despite the empty street, it was bustling in a peculiar way.
Especially when Wen Yan closed his eyes, he could smell aromas at his nose tip, hear bustling sounds in the wind, while the sky turned dark yet the warmth lingered here.
Upon opening his eyes, an entirely different scene unfolded.
Wen Yan promptly lifted Er Jingong, swiftly retreating from the town’s street district. Er Jingong, lifted single-handedly, saw the surroundings blur past as if he was on a high-speed train racing through a bustling market area.
“If it’s unbearable, just close your eyes and keep talking; ignore the outside.”
Er Jingong, carried along at high speed, felt very uncomfortable, so he closed his eyes and concentrated on recalling and recounting every detail he could think of.
Carrying Er Jingong, Wen Yan sprinted out of the street district, reaching a hill beside the district. He placed him under a large tree and gazed towards the town’s main street.
As the last strand of daylight vanished below the horizon, shadows on the empty main street slowly transformed into shapes resembling individual people.
The previously empty main street suddenly filled with people as if an event was taking place.
However, with their appearance, Wen Yan’s perception of the main street entirely changed.
The bustling crowd brought an eerie coldness that replaced any semblance of liveliness, exuding an unsettling stench of death.
Wen Yan took out his phone, activated the camera function, and zoomed in on the scene.
Then he saw every single person on the street, each with either pale or bluish complexions, oozing a thick aura of death.
One person, wielding scissors, cut into his own skin, peeling it off piece by piece and hanging it on shelves.
Then new skin began growing on his blood-dripping body, and he continued to peel and hang it on the shelves.
The dead visitors, pointing at the still dripping skin as if inquiring about the price, haggled.
Finally, the buyer produced a blackened bone, handed it to the seller, bought a piece of skin, and went into a makeshift changing room to peel off his own skin and put on the new one.
Upon reemerging, he had transformed from a pale undead to a bluish zombie-like appearance.
At a food stall beside the street, a zombie wielded a large cleaver, slicing off strips of flesh from his own other arm as though he was chopping noodles, flying chunks landing in the pot.
Every zombie diner exchanged various black bones for their meals.
