Chapter 206: Ch 206- Phantom Walk
David continued explaining, "Phantom Walk is a movement technique that focuses on controlling the muscles, tendons and the flow of Primordial Qi throughout the body. Instead of simply increasing the amount of strength used to move, it teaches the cultivator to release that strength at the right moment."
He raised one finger and continued, "Normally, when you move, a part of your strength is wasted because your muscles don’t work together perfectly. Phantom Walk solves this problem by coordinating every movement, from the smallest shift of your feet to the movement of your waist and legs. It also teaches you how to direct Primordial Qi through your lower body, allowing you to move with greater speed while using less energy."
David paused before adding, "Once you master it, you can even use the technique to leave behind afterimages. These aren’t real clones, of course. They are simply the result of moving so quickly that your opponent’s eyes cannot follow you."
Mo Yuan listened carefully. This was the first time he had heard such a detailed explanation of a movement technique. Although his Ultimate Speed Talent could increase his speed tremendously, he had never properly learned how to control every movement of his body.
Perhaps this technique could help him use his speed more efficiently.
David noticed the curiosity in Mo Yuan’s eyes and smiled.
"As for the multipliers, Initial Mastery gives you a two-times increase in movement speed. At Minor Achievement, it becomes three times. Major Achievement provides four times, while Perfection gives you five times the original speed."
He leaned back in his chair.
"Mu Shaobei has probably reached Major Achievement. That’s why his Phantom Walk gives him a four-times increase."
David looked at Mo Yuan with a smile, clearly expecting him to be impressed.
"What do you think? It’s a good technique, right?"
However, Mo Yuan was thinking about something completely different.
’It’s only a Mithril-grade technique, yet it can provide a five-times multiplier at Perfection?’
He couldn’t help but take a deep breath.
’Then what grade is my Boundless Saber Art?’
His Boundless Saber Art had reached Major Achievement and its multiplier had already increased to twenty-seven times. Compared to Phantom Walk, the difference was simply ridiculous.
’If Phantom Walk can give a five-times increase at Perfection, how much faster will I become if I master it?’
Just thinking about it made his breathing quicken slightly. With his Ultimate Speed Talent and Shadow Walk, his speed was already terrifying.
If he could add another powerful movement technique to the mix, his combat ability would rise to another level.
Of course, he still needed to learn the technique and master it. He couldn’t expect to gain its full benefits immediately.
Mo Yuan calmed himself and nodded.
"Yes, Senior. It’s indeed an excellent technique."
"Hahaha! Here, take this."
David took out a thin manual and handed it to him. The words Phantom Walk were written clearly on its cover.
Mo Yuan accepted it carefully.
"Thank you, Senior!"
"It’s nothing." David waved his hand casually. "I have to look after my investments too. Since I’ve invested in you, I naturally hope to see you bring back the greatest possible returns. Hahaha!"
Mo Yuan smiled. He understood what David meant. The Human Federation had given him plenty of help and David clearly hoped that he would become a powerful cultivator who could contribute to humanity in the future.
"Then I’ll take my leave, Senior. I’ll see you again."
"All right, all right. Keep cultivating. The Holy Base is very different from Cang Lan Base. You’ll meet people with better talents, stronger backgrounds and access to far greater resources. Some of them may have been receiving the best training since childhood. Don’t become careless just because you’ve made rapid progress here. Prepare yourself as much as possible before you go."
"Thank you for your advice, Senior."
Mo Yuan entered the elevator and soon left the Human Federation Tower.
Standing outside the building, he looked toward the Beast Association.
’Now, I should visit Bai Chuan and ask him about beasts with special talents.’
He had already decided that his next targets would be talents related to space and time. Such talents were extremely rare among humans, so finding powerful beasts with those abilities might be his best chance.
Without wasting any more time, Mo Yuan headed toward the Beast Association.
As soon as he arrived, Bai Chuan’s voice sounded in his mind.
’Mo Yuan, you’re here again? Come up.’
Mo Yuan entered the building and took the elevator to Bai Chuan’s floor. When he stepped out, he saw the familiar secretary sitting at her desk outside the office.
She looked up and immediately stood.
"Good evening, sir."
Mo Yuan nodded politely before entering the office.
Bai Chuan was sitting behind his desk, with several piles of documents spread out before him. The moment he saw Mo Yuan, he put down the papers and smiled.
"Welcome, Mo Yuan. Have a seat."
Mo Yuan sat down.
"Sorry for disturbing you again, Senior."
"No problem. You’re always welcome here. So, what brings you to see me today?"
Mo Yuan got straight to the point.
"Senior, I wanted to ask whether you have any information about beasts with Space or Time Talents."
Bai Chuan raised his eyebrows.
"Oh? Are you interested in those two types of talents?"
Mo Yuan maintained a straight face and replied, "Yes, Senior. I’m curious about how they work, especially since they’re so rare."
Bai Chuan nodded, accepting his explanation without asking further.
"I don’t know much about beasts with Time Talents but I do know someone who has a beast with a Space Talent."
Mo Yuan’s eyes immediately lit up.
"Really, Senior?"
"Yes. My friend manages the Beast Association at Frostwind Base, another Tier 2 base. He has a special beast with a Space Talent. As far as I know, he also has a beast with a Soul Talent."
Mo Yuan’s interest grew even stronger. Space and Soul Talents were both extremely valuable. If he could observe those abilities himself, he might discover something useful.
"However," Bai Chuan continued, "my friend is also a Sovereign Realm cultivator. He can’t casually leave his base and he won’t send those beasts to another city either. They are too valuable for that. If you want to see them, you’ll have to visit Frostwind Base yourself."
Mo Yuan nodded without hesitation.
"That’s fine, Senior. I’ll go there personally."
Bai Chuan smiled.
"All right. I’ll send him a message tomorrow. If everything goes smoothly, you should be able to visit him tomorrow. Do you need a transport vehicle? I can arrange one for you."
"No need, Senior. I’ll travel there myself. It will be faster that way."
"Right, I almost forgot who I was talking to. Very well. Come here tomorrow before you leave and I’ll give you the map and the directions. I’ll also let my friend know you’re coming."
"Thank you, Senior."
Bai Chuan nodded.
"Is there anything else you need?"
"No, Senior. I’ll take my leave for now."
"All right. Take care of yourself, kid."
Mo Yuan stood up, bowed slightly and left the office.
After leaving the Beast Association, he headed home.
Tomorrow, he would be visiting another Tier 2 base and if Bai Chuan’s information was accurate, he might finally get a chance to see a genuine Space Talent in action.
Mo Yuan couldn’t help but look forward to it.
