Chapter 766 405: Unexpected Development (2)

Su Ze offered no reply, instead unleashing a "Strongest Strike" that sent Yuan Shan reeling back into the spatial barrier.

In the darkness, the wrinkles on Yuan Shan's ape-like face deepened. He said, "You're strong. With this Stellar Giant Beast at your side, many Sun Gods would be no match for you. But that does not include me, Yuan Shan!"

The moment he finished speaking, he retracted his long staff and condensed a long sword in its place.

Like the staff, the long sword's light was devoured by the darkness, making it look pitch-black. But when Yuan Shan swung it, a cold gleam suddenly flared from the blade, tearing through the gloom!

The Dark Domain created by the Dark Blood Giant Beast was shattered!

Instantly, both Yuan Shan and Su Ze regained their perception of the surrounding space.

Everything became clear once more.

This was clearly a disadvantage for Su Ze. The Dark Domain had not only limited Yuan Shan's power but also enhanced the Dark Blood Giant Beast's combat strength.

Su Ze looked at the sword in Yuan Shan's hand. Just like the long staff before, it was an energy weapon condensed from a skill.

'But what does this sword do?'

'Shatter domains?'

Su Ze wasn't panicked, however. Judging from their recent exchange, he figured that he and the Dark Blood Giant Beast combined were enough to overpower Yuan Shan. Even without the Dark Domain's assistance, it shouldn't be enough for the tides to turn completely against them.

Besides, even though the Dark Domain had been broken, Su Ze still had other Domain Skills.

But just then, Yuan Shan suddenly whistled. Behind him, the hatch on the Sun God-level Spaceship he'd arrived in suddenly opened, and a sturdy figure emerged.

Su Ze stared at the figure, momentarily stunned, before looking at Yuan Shan. "Is that your son, too?"

He couldn't be blamed. The figure that walked out looked just like Yuan Shan, only more muscular and far larger.

It was a giant ape!

A giant ape no smaller than the Dark Blood Giant Beast. It walked upright, its fur like silver needles, looking majestic and imposing.

"You're not the only one with a Rank-9 mutated beast," Yuan Shan sneered, looking at Su Ze as if he were already a dead man.

Su Ze could naturally tell that this giant ape was not a member of the Ape Race, but a Rank-9 primate-type mutated beast!

A sense of foreboding rose in his heart.

He and the Dark Blood Giant Beast had the advantage fighting Yuan Shan two-on-one, but now Yuan Shan had a Rank-9 mutated beast of his own.

If the Dark Blood Giant Beast fought the giant ape, leaving Su Ze to face Yuan Shan alone... he likely stood no chance of winning.

To Su Ze's surprise, the moment the giant ape appeared, he felt an intense pull—stronger than any he had ever felt before!

It was so intense he wanted to pounce on the giant ape and take a huge bite out of it.

This giant ape was the perfect material for one of his skill upgrades!

The only skill Su Ze had that hadn't been upgraded to Rank-8 or higher was "Knowledge is Power." And this skill had originally come from a vial of extract from a Mutated Upright Ape.

Therefore, Su Ze guessed that devouring this giant ape would allow his "Knowledge is Power" skill to level up.

And judging by this unprecedentedly powerful attraction, the upgrade would likely be a major one.

The giant ape was a Rank-9 mutated beast; it would very likely allow his "Knowledge is Power" to jump two ranks at once, upgrading it into a Rank-9 divine skill!

Yuan Shan sneered. "This giant ape is the only mutated specimen among the many primate beasts raised by my Ape Race. Its combat power is immense. Do you really think your Stellar Giant Beast can be its opponent?"

'A mutated specimen...' Hearing Yuan Shan say this, Su Ze became even more certain that this beast was indeed the material he needed to upgrade his "Knowledge is Power" skill.

Being members of the Ape Race hadn't made them feel any particular kinship with primate-type beasts. On the contrary, because the skills produced by such beasts had a higher potential for compatibility with the Primordial Race, the Ape Race raised them in large numbers specifically to harvest skills.

As for this Rank-9 giant ape, it hadn't been raised by the Ape Race from birth. When Yuan Shan and his people discovered this Mutated Giant Ape in the wild, it was already a Rank-8 beast.

This giant ape possessed an extremely powerful skill—a superior version of "Knowledge is Power." Its effect was identical to Su Ze's "Knowledge is Power," only far more potent.

However, after reaching the god-level, it was impossible to acquire new skills by absorbing Evolutionary Material from beasts.

This meant that no one was able to obtain the Rank-8 "Knowledge is Power" skill from the Mutated Giant Ape.

Thus, after subduing and controlling the Mutated Giant Ape, Yuan Shan had kept it by his side.

For all these years, he had been trying to breed the Mutated Giant Ape, hoping its offspring would inherit the "Knowledge is Power" skill. But tens of millions of years had passed, and even though the Mutated Giant Ape had advanced to Rank-9, it had yet to produce a single heir.

Su Ze didn't know which was stronger—the giant ape or the Dark Blood Giant Beast—but that was no longer important. The crucial point was that in a two-on-two fight, his side had no chance of victory.

There seemed to be no other options for now... The giant ape's appearance had completely turned the tables, placing Su Ze in a precarious position.

'How can I turn this around again?'

'Or maybe I don't need to win. As long as I can break the spatial blockade and escape safely, that'll be enough.'

Su Ze took a deep breath. Faced with such an absolute disparity in strength, there seemed to be no good options.

The only simple and effective method was to divide and conquer: concentrate all their firepower to eliminate one of the enemy's combatants, and the remaining one would be much easier to deal with.

'Easier said than done, though.'

'Between the Mutated Giant Ape and the Sun God from the Ape Race, if I have to choose one to target... it has to be the Mutated Giant Ape.'
