I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate
Chapter 743: Ownerless Super Star
Chapter 743: Chapter 398: Ownerless Super Star
“I understand, I understand.” Mage nodded, but then his voice suddenly shot up. “What did you say? Chlorophyll that can be absorbed by flesh-and-blood life? That lets them perform photosynthesis?”
“That’s right.”
As Su Ze spoke, he took out a vial containing the Chlorophyll Capsules. Seeing Mage staring intently at the vial in his hand, he laughed to himself.
‘This Mage probably isn’t thinking about returning to the Tree Spirit Race anymore.’
Mage’s mind was indeed in turmoil. Chlorophyll that could be used by flesh-and-blood life, allowing Intelligent Races to perform photosynthesis—wasn’t this exactly what his Tree Spirit Race had been trying to develop all this time!
The growth and evolution of a Spiritual Plant relied primarily on photosynthesis.
This was an ability that no other intelligent life possessed. Not even the Hui Race, a plant-based lifeform, could perform photosynthesis.
The Tree Spirit Race was indeed a peaceful race that avoided conflict, but in the grand scheme of the universe, it was eat or be eaten.
Having grown weak beyond recovery, the Tree Spirit Race had been reduced to a fourth-rate race. They couldn’t possibly rise up by waging a war of extermination; there were very few races in the universe they could even defeat.
Thus, they had always sought an indirect path to salvation, hoping to strengthen the Tree Spirit Race by researching photosynthesis in Intelligent Races.
They didn’t seek to rule the universe, only to avoid becoming fodder for the Strong Races.
Su Ze explained, “We just recently developed these Chlorophyll Capsules. They’re still being constantly refined and improved.”
A look of anticipation crossed Mage’s face. “Could you show me how it works?”
“Of course. I was just about to take one to test its absorption effect with Super Star Energy. You can watch from the side.”
Su Ze tipped a green capsule into his mouth and swallowed it, then took out a small vial containing Super Star Energy.
The vial was specially designed to store light energy.
After he swallowed the capsule, it took effect quickly. Or rather, the effect was *very* obvious.
Because Su Ze had turned completely green.
He’d basically turned into the Hulk. His skin had taken on the same emerald green as a tree leaf.
Next, he opened the vial of Super Star Energy. A beam of light shot straight out from the opening and landed on his green skin.
A searing pain immediately flared up on his skin, but it was quickly replaced by a wave of warmth that spread from the surface all over his body.
Su Ze closed his eyes to feel the sensation. Nourished by this warmth, his physical body seemed to have grown stronger by an imperceptible amount.
The chlorophyll he had ingested integrated into his epidermal cells, converting the light energy into a form of energy he could absorb. This energy was stored within the cells, and his body would then automatically distribute it throughout his system.
‘It really works!’
Su Ze’s spirits lifted, but he immediately felt the searing pain on his skin again.
He looked at the spot. The green in the area being irradiated by the Super Star’s light was fading.
Fortunately, the chlorophyll from other areas began to move toward that patch of skin, replenishing it.
Su Ze had heard from Liou Wenxin before that this type of chlorophyll would be consumed, but thankfully, it automatically replenished itself in the areas exposed to light energy.
Soon, the Super Star Energy that Su Ze had spent a small fortune on was completely absorbed. He had also accumulated a significant amount of energy in his body through photosynthesis. As this energy strengthened his body, it also, to his surprise, began to help him digest the Evolutionary Material!
And the digestion speed was remarkably fast!
“This effect… is surprisingly good!”
Su Ze gauged the digestion speed and found it was faster than any digestive aid he knew of.
While it certainly couldn’t compare to the Sands of Time, he had at least found a substitute for them.
And this wasn’t even the limit; the effect likely depended on the light energy being absorbed.
Liou Wenxin had experimented with it herself before, but the results were only average. Now that Su Ze was testing it with Super Star Energy, the effect was surprisingly good.
‘If I could just bask directly in the light of a Super Star, the effect would probably be even better!’
‘Besides, Super Star Energy isn’t necessarily the most powerful light source in the universe. I might be able to find something even better.’
Mage, who was watching from the side, was also flushed with excitement. Although he couldn’t feel the effects as clearly and in as much detail as Su Ze, he could still tell that the chlorophyll was working.
For him, regardless of the potency, the mere fact that it worked was a major breakthrough!
The Super Star Energy was fully absorbed, but the shitty part was, Su Ze discovered that the chlorophyll he had taken wasn’t used up yet.
Half of his body was still green.
Left with no other choice, he could only pilot the Magic Cube to the nearest star. After flying into its vicinity, he went outside the ship to receive a baptism of sunlight.
It was the only way to quickly burn off the chlorophyll on his skin.
To speed up the process, he expanded his body and flattened himself out like a pancake to increase his surface area.
As expected, the sunlight from a regular star was far less effective than the energy from a Super Star.
However, after Su Ze flattened himself into a big, green pancake, the increased surface area exposed to the light produced surprisingly good results.
Of course, not everyone could change their body shape at will like him, so this method was only viable for a select few.
‘And,’ Su Ze thought, ‘since this trick works so well even under the light of a regular star, what if I tried it under the light of a Super Star? Would my digestion speed just skyrocket?’
But that would require finding an actual Super Star. He couldn’t do it with the purchased Super Star Energy, nor could he afford to.
After all that trouble, Su Ze finally used up all the chlorophyll in his system and returned to the ship.
