I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate
Chapter 730 - 394: Setting a Trap
"Using this bloodline connection, is it possible to track the other descendants of the Daman Ancestral God regardless of distance?" Su Ze asked.
He needed to understand the function of this bloodline connection to get a rough idea of the value of these two Divine Artifacts.
The Pope pondered for a moment before answering, "Even a bloodline connection has its limits. The universe is boundless, so it’s impossible to track every individual with a bloodline connection, regardless of distance.
"The effective range of the bloodline connection depends on the degree of bloodline similarity. Using the Daman Ancestral God’s bloodline in this ninth-rank Divine Artifact to track other ninth-rank Divine Artifacts containing the same Bloodline Power provides the greatest range; spanning dozens or even hundreds of Star Realms is no issue. However, its effectiveness drops considerably when used to directly track the Daman Ancestral God’s descendants.
"After all, even his own children would only share about half of his bloodline, so the tracking effectiveness is cut in half."
Su Ze then looked at Dou Er and the others and asked, "I heard the Daman Ancestral God had over ten thousand descendants. Doesn’t that mean there are a lot of these Bloodline Divine Artifacts?"
’Rarity determines value. If there are too many of these Bloodline Divine Artifacts, they naturally won’t sell for a very high price.’
Dou Er answered, "While the Daman Ancestral God had many descendants, he himself was an ancient being who lived for several hundred million years. Over such a long time, having over ten thousand descendants isn’t that many. Besides, not all of his descendants could become gods. Some died of old age before reaching godhood, and others perished after becoming gods.
"He recovered the Bloodline Divine Artifacts from almost all the descendants who perished in the past. For the few he couldn’t recover, he severed their bloodline connections.
"So, the number of Daman Ancestral God Bloodline Divine Artifacts currently in existence is not large—perhaps a little over a hundred. Even fewer are circulating out in the open."
’So the Daman Ancestral God could proactively sever the bloodline connections between Bloodline Divine Artifacts. But thankfully, he’s already dead and can’t do that anymore.’
The Pope analyzed, "From the looks of it, the Holy Race may already have a few of these Bloodline Divine Artifacts in their possession. After all, when they attacked the Dou Race, it’s impossible that all of the Daman Ancestral God’s descendants escaped. Some must have fallen into their hands, and the Holy Race would have naturally confiscated their Bloodline Divine Artifacts.
"But they won’t think they have too many of these. Each Bloodline Divine Artifact has a limited tracking range. Since the universe is vast, if they want to spread out and hunt down the remaining members of the Dou Race, the more Bloodline Divine Artifacts they have, the better."
Hearing the Pope’s words, Su Ze fell into deep thought.
’Although the bloodline tracking has a range limit, compared to the Holy Race searching aimlessly across the entire universe for the remnants of the Dou Race, having the aid of this Bloodline Power is countless times more convenient.’
He understood the benefits involved, and he also understood the dangers.
’Why is the Holy Race constantly hunting down the remnants of the Dou Race? To annihilate the Dou Race, to seize their Origin Gene, and to fundamentally strengthen the Holy Race once more! And while these two ninth-rank Divine Artifacts couldn’t guarantee the Holy Race would achieve their goal, they could absolutely make their operation much smoother and give their campaign of extermination a greater chance of success. Therefore, the Holy Race would definitely be willing to pay a price far exceeding the intrinsic value of a ninth-rank Divine Artifact to acquire these two.’
But the problem was, Su Ze didn’t have the strength or standing to trade with the Holy Race as an equal.
Rashly contacting the Holy Race and proposing a trade would carry a significant risk.
If a powerful member of the Holy Race were to discover his identity as a member of the Human Race, it would be all over for him.
’If I just sold these ninth-rank Divine Artifacts for a slight premium, there wouldn’t really be much danger. I wouldn’t even have to trade directly with the Holy Race; I could just find a major trading company and sell them. There would be plenty of people willing to take them. After those major trading companies get their hands on them, they could turn around and sell them to the Holy Race for several times the price. But there’s no point in doing that. I’m not interested in such a paltry profit; I might as well not sell them at all. But I want to sell them for a high price, which would ideally mean trading directly with the Holy Race. The problem is, I’m not one of those major trading companies or powerful races with the strength and standing to back it up. The higher my asking price, the greater the risk. In the end, it all comes down to not having a backer. If I were backed by some first-rate race, I’d naturally have the confidence to negotiate with the Holy Race.’
’This immense fortune... should I take the risk or not?’
For a moment, Su Ze found it difficult to decide.
Suddenly, his eyes lit up as he thought of something. He asked the Pope, "This Ancestral God Bloodline Power... the Holy Race can’t be the only ones interested in it, right?"
The Pope seemed to guess what Su Ze was thinking and nodded. "That’s right. Given the chance, the other four Dominator Races, and even some of the first-rate Strong Races, would probably want to get involved. Snatching the fruits of victory from the Holy Race’s hands would be an incredible windfall.
"As for the second and third-rate races, they probably wouldn’t dare to offend the Holy Race. They don’t have the guts to compete for these Bloodline Divine Artifacts."
’The Holy Race launched a war and crippled the Dou Race, but they failed to truly annihilate them. If other races obtained the Bloodline Divine Artifacts, it would be easier for them to track the remnants of the Dou Race as well. They might not be able to resist jumping in to fight the Holy Race for a piece of the pie. At the very least, the other four Dominator Races would be tempted.’
"Do you think it’s possible for me to sell these Bloodline Divine Artifacts through an auction?" Su Ze asked.
Since the Holy Race wasn’t the only potential buyer, an auction was obviously the best way to drive up the final price for the Bloodline Divine Artifacts. Moreover, he wouldn’t have to deal with the buyers directly or negotiate a price; he could just let the major races compete among themselves.
"That is indeed a good method," the Pope replied. "However, you need to carefully consider which region to hold it in and which auction house to use. You also have to account for the risks at every step of the process."
Su Ze mused, "The Holy Race undoubtedly wants these Bloodline Divine Artifacts the most, so we absolutely cannot hold the auction in Holy Race territory. For safety, it would be best to choose a Public Star Realm under the jurisdiction of one of the other four Dominator Races."
