Jiang Pingle and Marina didn’t immediately join the battlefield. Instead, they looked around, seeming to search for someone.

They searched the area surrounding the battlefield, as well as the front and rear of the Blue Star Party’s formation, but they couldn’t find their target.

"We couldn’t find that Su Ze kid," Jiang Pingle said with a frown.

"He might be in the spaceship." Marina’s gaze shifted to the Emerald Spaceship hovering in the sky above.

However, breaching the ship by force would be difficult.

"This is a Moon God-level Spaceship. Even if it’s damaged, we can’t breach it by force right now," Jiang Pingle said.

As Legendary-level experts, even wielding God-level artifacts, the power they could unleash couldn’t match that of a normal Star God. They posed no threat to a Moon God-level Spaceship.

Marina nodded, her beautiful face twisting into a ferocious smile. "Then let’s target these Overlords and Supremes first. Once we kill enough of them, the people inside the ship won’t be able to sit still."

The two of them shot toward the Saint-level experts of the Blue Star Party.

Against Legendary-level experts, even Supremes couldn’t withstand more than a few attacks, to say nothing of Overlords.

In an instant, several of the Blue Star Party’s Overlords had fallen.

And that was without the two of them even using their God-level artifacts.

The pair targeted Chen Suifeng in the crowd. Knowing his special status within the Blue Star Party, they decided to kill him first to strike a blow against their morale.

Just as the two were about to strike, the main door of the Emerald Spaceship above slowly opened.

Jiang Pingle and Marina stopped in their tracks. They looked up toward the figure standing silhouetted in the ship’s entryway.

It was an old man in a wheelchair.

His body was hunched and steeped in the aura of old age. His head, covered in liver spots, had only sparse white hair, and his clouded eyes reflected no light whatsoever.

Mr. Ke!

As if on cue, the fighting below gradually ceased at the old man’s appearance. Both sides pulled back, creating distance between them.

All eyes were fixed on the old man in the wheelchair.

There wasn’t a single person present who didn’t recognize Mr. Ke.

On the Alien Party’s side, the "traitors to their race" lowered their heads, not daring to meet his gaze, as if they feared Mr. Ke’s clouded, weary eyes would burn them.

On the Blue Star Party’s side, the eyes of the high-ranking members grew moist, and some began to tremble slightly, as if they realized what was coming.

Chen Suifeng quietly clenched his fists. In a daze, his mind drifted back to a past he refused to revisit, from when he was in his fifties.

Back then, he had watched the soldiers under his command die one by one, and he had been powerless to stop it.

Now, watching his most respected senior prepare to fight at the cost of his own life, he was still just as powerless.

It seemed everything had changed, but the one thing that remained the same was that feeling of helplessness.

’There’s still nothing I can do!’

When one’s sense of responsibility exceeds the limits of one’s abilities, one is plunged into endless torment.

He left the military of Lin Hua Country and devoted himself to education, wanting to accomplish something, but he had achieved nothing.

His enthusiastic enjoyment of life was a compromise with his own limited abilities.

Until he met Su Ze. In Su Ze, he saw hope.

He believed Su Ze could do the things he wanted to but couldn’t, so he spared no effort to help him.

He had tried time and again to awaken Su Ze’s sense of responsibility, even being willing to sacrifice himself to do so. His hope was for Su Ze to inherit the responsibility that he himself was too weak to bear.

But now, looking at Mr. Ke in his wheelchair, at the serene smile on his wrinkled face, Chen Suifeng suddenly understood. His past actions had been nothing but a form of escape!

The responsibility Mr. Ke shouldered could only be heavier than his own, but the old man had never been crushed by it, nor had he ever run from it.

He had even forsaken the temptation of godhood for the responsibility he carried in his heart.

Even in his twilight years, confined to a wheelchair and barely clinging to life, he had preserved his body, waiting for this very moment.

’What would the outcome be? Who knew?’

But it didn’t matter. Those who bear responsibility simply do their best, so they can live without shame before heaven or earth.

Sitting in his wheelchair, Mr. Ke strained to lift his head and look at the clear sky above. It was cloudless for miles, yet he seemed to see an infinite starry expanse, and on a particular star in a corner of the universe, a particular person.

"Marshal, I’ve done my best!"

He muttered to himself, sighing softly. His voice held nostalgia and undisguised reluctance, but more than that, it held the frankness of a clear conscience.

The next moment, he shakily rose to his feet. A fire ignited in his gaze, burning away the cloudiness in his eyes.

"Today, with this broken body of mine, I shall protect the Human Race one last time."

"With the fire of my life, I shall light one more lamp for the future of the Human Race!"

As his words fell, the flames in his eyes seemed to spread, engulfing his entire being. Mr. Ke was bathed in an invisible fire.

The flames burned away his decrepit shell. His wrinkled skin cracked, inch by inch, turning to ash that scattered in the wind.

BANG!

A strong, young arm burst out from the aged husk, shattering its confines.

It was followed by a second young arm.

The two hands gripped the chest of the decrepit form and tore it open. A handsome, tall, and powerfully built man who looked to be in his twenties emerged from within.

He looked young, but his eyes carried the weight of countless years.

Below, the hearts of the experts trembled.

They all recognized him. This was exactly what Mr. Ke looked like in his youth!

After calling him "Mr. Ke" for hundreds of years, many had long since forgotten his real name. He was Ke Xiuyuan. He too had once been dashingly handsome, young, and strong. He had been the dream of countless young women, a role model for countless youths, the Guardian God of the people of Lin Hua Continent.
