I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 1027 - 493: Total Monster Kills: 100,000

The Magic Staff in Gauss’s hand flared with a magic halo once more.

Another Dawn was about to strike.

Anticipating the familiar attack pattern, Snaz dared not delay this time. Before the Spell struck, it activated Black Light Tremor, propelling its body through the air to evade.

But the moment it dodged, several Dragon Roar Missiles locked onto it, flapping their Dragon Flame wings as they closed in rapidly.

Forced into a corner, it continued to dodge in mid-air.

Vaguely, it felt a sense of déjà vu. Gauss’s relentless pursuit surprisingly mirrored its own ferocity at the start of the battle.

Compared to Dawn, Dragon Roar Missiles possessed superior tracking capabilities; even Snaz couldn’t evade them completely.

Right before a Dragon Roar Missile struck, it raised an arm, condensing black light energy in its palm and expanding it into a massive black shield before it.

"BOOM!"

A powerful shockwave erupted from the black shield on its arm, sending intense tremors surging through its entire body.

Snaz noticed that the black light energy enveloping its body had weakened slightly from the attack. Though the difference was minute, it was undeniable.

But with no time left to think, Gauss quickly launched a new round of attacks.

***

As a Level 15 Demon, Snaz was undeniably powerful, Gauss analyzed silently.

Its physique was too robust. Even after several hours of high-intensity combat, that steel-like body continued to unleash an astonishing amount of Life Force and endurance.

Gauss felt like a patient hunter. Once he locked onto his prey, he would wear it down through a prolonged chase. He would wait until the beast—unable to dissipate heat fast enough and overheating—suffered physical exhaustion. Only when it was on the verge of collapse would he deliver the fatal strike.

His battle with Snaz raged on.

Perhaps refusing to believe his Magic Power was infinite, Snaz hadn’t fallen into complete despair despite witnessing him unleash such a massive barrage of Spells.

It fought in silence, biding its time for the moment he exhausted his reserves.

However, that moment might never come—or at the very least, it would take much longer to arrive than the Demon imagined.

"CRACK!"

Across the battlefield, dozens of washbasin-sized Clay Spiders remained scattered, tirelessly fulfilling their duties.

Their mobility was exceptional, but more importantly, they were incredibly stealthy. Standing only as tall as a human’s calf, they easily remained hidden.

With a single leap, they could latch onto a goblin’s abdomen, using their razor-sharp legs to disembowel the creature in an instant. After cleanly dispatching their target, these cold little killers would swiftly move on to the next.

In the massive legion, no goblin cared about a comrade suddenly dropping dead. Or rather, too many were falling on the battlefield for anyone to notice. Stray arrows, catapult boulders, and the occasional swooping griffin plucking a comrade up only to drop them from the sky—bizarre and brutal deaths were a constant occurrence.

But under the influence of the Shaman’s Invigoration Spell, they were entirely oblivious to the casualties.

Furthermore, the Red Dragon Team stationed on the city walls was fighting with equal ferocity.

Despite the prolonged battle, many realized that their combat form tonight was exceptionally better than usual. Normally, they would be completely exhausted by now. Yet, simply by gritting their teeth, they could still squeeze out more strength from their bodies.

Moreover, they seemed to share a telepathic synergy with their comrades, often achieving combat coordination where one plus one yielded far more than two.

Even in the face of certain death, many suddenly erupted with a powerful, unfamiliar strength, instantly reversing the tide.

At first, some believed they had experienced a sudden breakthrough. But when they noticed their comrades exhibiting the same traits—while non-Red Dragon Team members showed no such phenomena—they began to suspect it had something to do with Commander Gauss and the Red Dragon Team.

The team buffs provided by the [Heartstrings] Racial Talent far exceeded Gauss’s initial expectations. Specifically, the ability to enhance synergy had been vastly underestimated.

For Adventurers accustomed to fighting in small squads, the boost from heightened synergy was practically exponential.

Not every Adventurer was as well-rounded as Gauss. The Warrior, Caster, Priest, Ranger, Wanderer... every Profession had its own strengths and weaknesses. That was exactly why they needed to fight and coordinate as a unit.

Consequently, the kill count on Gauss’s Monster Atlas steadily climbed.

"98,555"

"98,867"

"99,101"

"..."

As the pressure of battle gradually eased over time, Gauss found himself able to occasionally spare a moment to check the accumulating numbers on the Atlas.

The moment the total monster kill count surpassed 100,000, the familiar prompt arrived like clockwork.

As Gauss opened the interface, he simultaneously activated Future Sight to accelerate his thought speed.

"Total monster kills: 100,000/100,000. Milestone achievement of 100,000 kills unlocked."

"Reward obtained: 6th-circle Transmutation Spell [Bones of the Earth]."

"Reward obtained: 6th-circle Necromancy Spell [Death Array]."

"Reward obtained: Profession Feat [Magic Resistance] upgraded to [Greater Magic Resistance]."

"Reward obtained: agility +1, Intelligence +1, Perception +1."

Strength: 18

agility: 17 → 18

Constitution: 18

Intelligence: 21 → 22

Perception: 16 → 17

Charm: 18

His body underwent numerous changes in an instant.

The first change occurred deep within his consciousness. Next to the two 6th-circle Spells—[Spiritual Prison] and [Splendid Light Ball], which resembled complex spherical networks—two brand-new Spell models materialized.
