I Am Not A Goblin Slayer
Chapter 1022: Second Stage Enhancement and Severed Limb Regeneration
Chapter 1022: Chapter 491: Second Stage Enhancement and Severed Limb Regeneration
The entire battlefield was like a giant meat grinder; with every passing second, countless lives were lost.
BOOM! BOOM!
High above the massive goblin legion, a beam of black light and a beam of white light clashed at breakneck speed. Snaz’s ferocious gaze was locked tightly onto its opponent.
Although its opponent’s speed wasn’t as frantic as its own, compared to other Casters, it was still terrifyingly fast. Even Snaz, if its focus slipped for a moment, could easily be briefly shaken off by him. Its straight-line speed was faster, but the opponent was much more agile.
“You can’t escape!”
Although it grew more frustrated as the fight dragged on and its attacks continually failed to heavily injure the opponent, Snaz still believed the advantage lay with it. It just needed to be more patient. Its speed was faster, its destructive power was stronger, and the Magic cast by the opponent couldn’t harm its body. It could fail countless times, but if the opponent was heavily injured by it even once, it could use that as a breakthrough to launch a continuous flurry of high-intensity attacks and ultimately kill him.
After being dodged by Gauss several times, Snaz once again appeared right in front of him.
BANG!
Snaz’s thigh, wrapped in deep black light, whipped out like a lash. Seeing Gauss repeat his old trick, gathering his wings to block the attack, a hint of coldness flashed through Snaz’s pupils. Sure enough, when this ultra-heavy blow landed, the opponent’s wings erupted with an intensely oppressive power.
“Is that the power of a dragon? It also has a very strong regenerative ability…” Snaz thought.
Throughout the battle with Gauss, it had been constantly analyzing its opponent’s intelligence without a moment’s pause. If someone assumed it was a mindless idiot just because it was a goblin, they would be dead wrong. Many creatures could grow wings, but the only ones strong enough to reach this level and exert such a powerful suppressive effect on it should be true dragons.
Although this human’s aura was very bizarre, it still managed to capture that troublesome power, identical to Her Majesty Aiselas’s.
“Is he a Dragon Descendant among humans? Or does he possess some special bloodline?” it wondered.
It naturally mistook the deterrent suppression of Gauss’s [Goblin Expert] for bloodline power. However, this wasn’t entirely wrong; Gauss’s weakening effect on it was multifaceted. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to bridge such a massive level gap to endure its attacks head-on.
Kicked by it, Gauss flew backward at an extreme speed. In the process, he activated a brief burst of his [Future Sight] ability once again. Utilizing the buff of extreme thought acceleration, he quickly mobilized the Magic Power in his body, surging it toward his wings to replenish them. It was exactly through this ability that he managed to frequently and ultra-fast heal the “injuries” to his dragon wings. Because, essentially, he wasn’t injured; as long as his Magic Power was replenished fast enough, his Solidification dragon wings could completely recover. He was essentially trading his own Magic Power to exhaust the Goblin Lord.
For the vast majority of Casters, this would be a losing bargain. Magic Power was an incredibly precious force, the very foundation of all a Caster’s skills. In battle, they had to ensure their Magic Power remained as plentiful as possible. But Gauss was no ordinary Caster. For him, recovering Magic Power was as simple as breathing. He had far too many ways to recover it—not just one, not just two. If drawn into a war of attrition with him, even a mighty Demon Lord would fall at a disadvantage. This was his greatest asset. The longer the battle dragged on, the more beneficial it was for him; the scales would gradually tip in his favor.
“Hmm?”
Just as Gauss finished mobilizing his Magic Power to restore his wings and prepared to cancel Future Sight to save Spiritual Power, the next scene suddenly flashed before his eyes. After capturing the Goblin Lord’s next move through Future Sight, Gauss felt a bit more settled. He couldn’t help but marvel once again at how utterly broken the [Future Sight] ability was. When every action of an opponent could be known in advance, the preemptive advantage brought by such intelligence was simply too massive.
“Magic Particle Conversion!”
The next moment, a sudden change occurred in his upper body. His form gradually became ethereal. His skin, muscles, and blood seemed to be deconstructed by a miraculous force, turning into a special, semi-transparent Platinum Magic Power.
BOOM!
Having just finished its attack, the Goblin Lord’s body shrank once again. Like a water-logged sponge suddenly squeezed tight to wring out all moisture, it became even more compact. Its size compressed from over two meters tall down to just over one point seven meters, making it even shorter than Gauss in his human form. However, as it shrank again, the black light coiling around its body solidified to a terrifying degree. That layer of black light encased its entire body like some sort of metal, releasing a powerful, soul-shaking energy.
Clearly, this Goblin Lord’s greatest trump card came from this “transformation” ability. In truth, similar methods weren’t rare among monsters. Berserk, beastification, and blood-boiling were all similar means of elevating combat power in a short amount of time. But the biggest difference with this Goblin Lord was that its transformation had multiple stages, running much deeper and being far more controllable. Its speed had reached an absolute peak after the second compression of its body size. With a flash of black light, having originally been hundreds of meters away, it suddenly flickered and appeared right in front of Gauss in an extremely illogical manner. It was like spatial teleportation, and an incredibly fast one at that.
It was completely impossible for an ordinary person to track the trajectory of its movement. Even in the ultra-slow motion of Gauss’s [Future Sight], the Goblin Lord’s speed was by no means slow. By stimulating the black light energy on its body, it propelled its frame into a series of rapid, continuous vibrations, forming a terrifying driving force. Then, with a few mid-air turns, it arrived right in front of him.
Snaz stared dead-on at Gauss, whose wings were still drooping. He looked incredibly weak, his fragile body completely exposed before it. Looking down from above, Snaz exhaled a breath of air.
“Hah!”
It raised one of its thighs high into the air. At the same time, the black light on its leg, which previously had only wrapped around the skin, instantly changed shape. It continuously extended, becoming sharp. Ultimately, that leg transformed into a sharp, narrow Leg Blade.
BANG!
In an instant, the impact from hundreds of black light vibrations turned into a mighty propulsive force, driving that incomparably sharp Leg Blade to slash toward Gauss’s chest.
BOOM!
This enhanced state granted it extraordinarily powerful dynamic vision. Thus, even in this split second, it noticed Gauss’s movements. The opponent’s body language didn’t show any intention of defending. It was just that, for some unknown reason, the opponent’s body seemed to grow fainter and fainter in its field of vision. However, it had no time to overthink things now. The next instant, its pitch-black Leg Blade slashed down.
SLASH!
The Leg Blade fell, cleanly and neatly tearing through the opponent’s body. It watched with wide eyes as its leg, which had transformed into a massive blade, cleaved the opponent in two from the chest up. The most vital organ, the heart, was directly in the path of this slash. The Leg Blade passed right through Gauss’s body. Due to the sheer explosive force, Snaz plummeted straight down like a black blade and plunged into the earth, leaving a massive fissure dozens of meters deep on the ground.
BOOM!
Where Snaz landed, a massive cloud of dust was kicked up. But amidst the dust, Snaz frowned. Everything had happened in a flash of lightning, but upon landing, it suddenly realized it hadn’t felt the sensation of hitting a solid body. With a few explosive steps, it dashed out of the smoke and dust. At the same time, it looked toward the spot where Gauss had just been. Gauss was no longer there; he had flashed to a spot much further away.
Yet, its gloomy gaze still managed to clearly see Gauss’s current state. The opponent’s body, which should have been cleaved in two, was now in a very bizarre state. He floated in the sky, his upper body taking on a semi-transparent Platinum energy form. Looking closely inside, it was no longer a body of flesh and blood, but one composed of countless Platinum energy particles. At the wound on the upper half of his severed chest, tens of thousands of threads were weaving and repairing his broken body back together. In the brief moment it observed, the split body had already been reassembled, looking as if it hadn’t suffered the slightest bit of damage. He looked both sacred and uncanny.
Snaz’s mouth fell slightly open, and its eyes couldn’t help but twitch.
“Is this a human?” it thought.
Even Snaz, who had always been extremely confident in its own physique, knew very well that if it were to suffer an injury of the same caliber, it would most likely not survive. It was absolutely certain that it had struck the opponent’s actual body just now, rather than some clone formed by Magic or an Illusion Technique. Since when were humans—especially Casters, who were infamous for their frail physical bodies—so difficult to deal with?
