I Am Already A Queen

Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Bet On That Purple Superbike
Qiao Meixia nodded, her eyes tracking the sleek machines lining up on the asphalt.
"The betting pool is open right now if you want to place a wager on who takes the checkered flag. Want to jump in?" Yin Junjie asked casually.
Standing nearby, a heavily made-up girl chuckled mockingly. "Young Master Yin, I heard she grew up in some backwater countryside. Does she even have the cash to drop on a bet like this?"
Yin Junjie’s expression darkened instantly as he fixed a freezing glare on the young heir who had brought the girl along.
The young man caught the sharp look and instantly understood the grave danger he was in. Without a second thought, he whirled around and delivered a sharp slap straight across the girl’s face.
"Keep your trap shut! Who asked for your input?!" The guy barked at her harshly before turning back to Yin Junjie with an apologetic bow. "Brother Junjie, please forgive her! She is clueless and did not mean anything by it!"
The girl clutched her stinging cheek in absolute shock, but under the heavy pressure of the room, she did not dare utter another peep.
Yin Junjie did not even bother acknowledging the couple. Instead, he turned back toward Qiao Meixia, softening his tone.
"Don’t worry about it. You don’t have to place a bet if you don’t want to." Yin Junjie said easily.
"Put 100,000 yuan on that dark purple superbike." Qiao Meixia stated flatly, as if ordering a cup of coffee.
Yin Junjie blinked, utterly caught off guard.
"Are you sure about that one?" Yin Junjie asked, double-checking.
"Hmm." Qiao Meixia nodded with absolute composure.
The girl who had been put in her place earlier snorted softly under her breath when she heard that. She could not bring herself to believe that a country bumpkin like Qiao Meixia would actually dare to wager such an enormous sum of money. In her mind, she was convinced the girl was just putting on a show and would inevitably turn around to beg Yin Junjie to cover the bill for her.
Yin Junjie gestured for an attendant to formally register the bet under Qiao Meixia’s name. Since the transaction required full payment upfront, he leaned in slightly and lowered his voice so only she could hear.
"Do you have enough on you right now? If you are short, I can easily cover it for you." Yin Junjied asked.
"No need." Qiao Meixia replied casually, pulling a sleek card from her pocket.
The staff member promptly brought over a portable card reader. Qiao Meixia tapped her card against the machine, which gave a sharp, single beep before displaying a green confirmation screen indicating that the 100,000 yuan transfer had gone through smoothly.
The haughty girl’s jaw dropped in sheer disbelief. She had never imagined that a girl from the countryside could casually throw around that kind of wealth. She bit her lip until it bled, her chest burning with bitter envy.
High above the arena, the massive LED scoreboard updated to display the current wagers placed on each contender.
Down in the pit lane, the dark purple rider looked up in genuine surprise when he noticed his bike number flashing on the big screen next to a remarkably high bet. He could not help but wonder what kind of wild gambler had placed so much faith in him.
’Well,’ he thought with a grin, adjusting his helmet, ’I definitely won’t disappoint whoever backed me tonight.’
A horn blared, and the race officially kicked off.
At the start, the dark purple rider got off to a sluggish, rocky start, quickly falling behind into dead last place.
Up on the viewing platform, the snobbish girl could not contain her glee. Seeing the purple bike trailing at the back of the pack, she turned toward Qiao Meixia with a triumphant sneer.
"What a tragic waste of money! That’s precisely why backwater people should not try to show off in front of real upper-class society." The girl mocked openly.
Qiao Meixia ignored the girl completely, her calm, impassive gaze remaining glued to the track below.
However, as the laps ticked by, the girl’s smug smile slowly began to falter and wither away.
The dark purple rider was picking up terrifying momentum. Swooping through the sharp turns, he began executing impossible overtakes, cutting past the competition at mind-boggling speeds.
The stadium spectators erupted into deafening cheers every time the purple machine zipped past another competitor. By the end of the third lap, he had miraculously seized the lead, carving out a massive, untouchable gap between himself and the runner-up.
Crossing the finish line with a dramatic flare, the dark purple rider officially took the checkered flag as the undisputed champion.
The entire arena exploded into wild applause and cheering. Down in the spectator stands, however, a few bitter gamblers began cursing at the top of their lungs, having lost a fortune on the former favourites.
"Meixia, do you actually know that guy personally?" Yin Junjie asked, genuinely curious.
"No." Qiao Meixia shook her head.
"Then why on earth did you drop a hundred grand on him?" Yin Junjie pressed, raising an eyebrow.
"Dark purple is my favourite colour." Qiao Meixia stated casually.
"Just because of that?!" Yin Junjie was left completely speechless by her sheer nonchalance.
Qiao Meixia gave him a simple, serious nod.
Down below, the grid was already cleared for the night’s second race, and the betting window opened once more.
Yin Junjie turned back to Qiao Meixia, asking if she wanted to place another wager.
Several wealthy young men in the VIP room paused, eagerly waiting to see who Qiao Meixia would pick so they could blindly follow her lead. However, their faces fell in disappointment when she merely shook her head.
Qiao Meixia glanced over the lineup of riders on the track, but none of them sparked even a flicker of interest. The gut instinct simply was not there. Since nothing caught her eye, she was not about to waste her money.
Seeing her sit out, the haughty girl could not resist scoffing out loud, seizing what she thought was a prime opportunity to humiliate Qiao Meixia again.
"Or maybe she just blew through all her savings and does not have a single cent left." The girl sneered.
Yin Junjie’s eyes narrowed dangerously as he cast a chilling sideways glance in her direction. "Hey. If I hear your voice echo in this room one more time, don’t blame me when I smack you across the face myself."
The girl froze, a wave of genuine terror washing over her. She suddenly remembered the terrifying rumors surrounding Yin Junjie’s ruthless temperament.
The young heir who had brought her along glared at her with pure fury, his hands trembling.
’Can’t this brainless woman keep her mouth shut for five seconds?! Why does she insist on provoking the one girl Yin Junjie is actually treating with respect?!’ He felt a deep, immediate regret for ever bringing such an embarrassing date to an exclusive event.
Seeing that Qiao Meixia was visibly losing interest in the track, Yin Junjie remembered her soft spot for sweet treats. He subtly motioned to one of his personal assistants and whispered a quick command into his ear.
The assistant bowed politely and slipped out of the VIP suite.
A few minutes later, he returned carrying an elegant platter filled with an array of artisanal cake slices in various rich flavours.
The moment Qiao Meixia spotted the spread, a subtle sparkle lit up her eyes, though her facial expression remained as cool and stoic as ever.
"These are all for you." Yin Junjie said with a relaxed smile.
"Really?" Qiao Meixia asked, her gaze fixed on the desserts.
"Really." Yin Junjie confirmed with a nod.
Qiao Meixia reached out, picked up a small cake fork, and took a bite. A tiny, satisfied nod showed she thoroughly approved of the taste.
Assuming the lavish spread was open to everyone, the haughty girl tried to save face by reaching out to grab a slice for herself.
However, just as her fingers were about to touch the plate, Yin Junjie’s icy voice cut through the air.
"What do you think you are doing?" Yin Junjie asked sharply, adding, "Did anyone say those were for you?"
Panicking, the young heir grabbed the girl’s arm and violently yanked her back.
"We are so sorry, Brother Junjie! She did not mean any disrespect!" The young heir stammered out, bowing repeatedly.
Deep down, though, the young heir could not help but feel that Yin Junjie was being absurdly petty. There were at least eight large slices of cake on that platter.
