I Am Already A Queen
Chapter 135: Being Accused of Pulling Jiang Yanna
Chapter 135: Chapter 135: Being Accused of Pulling Jiang Yanna
The group immediately swarmed Jiang Yanna to help her sit up and check on her. Among them was Jin Zexi. After helping Jiang Yanna to her feet, Jin Zexi immediately whirled around toward Qiao Meixia and glared at her with intense hostility.
"Hey! How dare you push your own twin sister like that? You better apologize to her right now!" Jin Zexi demanded, pointing her finger aggressively at Qiao Meixia’s face..
Qiao Meixia stared blankly at Jin Zexi for a beat before shifting her cool gaze over to Jiang Yanna. She could clearly see a faint, wicked smirk flashing across Jiang Yanna’s lips. It was only there for a split second before being hidden under her tearful facade. However, Qiao Meixia caught it clearly.
"Why should I?" Qiao Meixia asked calmly.
"You actually dare to ask that question? We all saw you push your twin sister to the ground with our own eyes! You can’t deny it!" Jin Zexi barked back angrily.
"Oh... Are you absolutely sure about that?" Qiao Meixia narrowed her eyes slightly.
Jiang Yanna’s heart instantly skipped a beat, a surge of sudden panic washing over her. Alarmed, she immediately reached out and clutched Jin Zexi’s arm.
"Zexi, please stop... There is no need for this. Sister Meixia probably did not mean it that way." Jiang Yanna stammered anxiously.
"But Yanna, we all saw it clearly! She shoved you hard to the floor!" Jin Zexi argued, bewildered by her sudden defence.
"No... No... You are all misunderstanding! Sister Meixia did not push me." Jiang Yanna shook her head frantically, desperate to convince her defensive friends to drop the subject.
"Are you really sure about that?" Jin Zexi asked, thoroughly confused.
"Yes, I am sure." Jiang Yanna nodded hurriedly.
Wu Xiner, who had been quietly observing the entire ordeal from the sidelines, did not miss the subtle shift in Jiang Yanna’s expression the moment Qiao Meixia asked that sharp question.
Wu Xiner narrowed her eyes slightly. The truth was becoming glaringly obvious now. Qiao Meixia was not the one who had pushed Jiang Yanna to the ground at all. Instead, Jiang Yanna had deliberately staged the entire fall to frame Qiao Meixia and trick everyone into thinking she was the victim of a cruel bully.
Wu Xiner had been hanging around Jiang Yanna long enough to instantly recognise when she was putting on a fake act. She had witnessed Jiang Yanna play the helpless innocent in front of others countless times before. This time was no different.
However, seeing how disturbingly calm Qiao Meixia remained under pressure, Jiang Yanna had clearly grown terrified that Qiao Meixia could actually prove her innocence and turn the tables on her. That was the exact reason why Jiang Yanna had suddenly backed off so frantically and tried to convince everyone to drop it. She was afraid that if they pressed the issue or investigated the incident any further, the humiliating truth would come out.
Wu Xiner’s assessment was entirely spot-on.
Jiang Yanna was indeed feeling that exact panic. She had originally intended to use Jin Zexi and the others to brand Qiao Meixia as an abusive bully. She had deliberately timed her fall, waiting until her friends were close enough to witness the dramatic tumble. She assumed that as long as they saw her hit the floor, they would naturally jump to the conclusion that Qiao Meixia was responsible.
However, Qiao Meixia’s reaction was completely off script. She did not panic. She did not get angry. She did not even attempt to offer a frantic, desperate defence.
Instead, she had simply asked, "Are you sure?"
That single, icy question was enough to send Jiang Yanna into a tailspin of anxiety. It made it sound as though Qiao Meixia was holding an absolute trump card and already knew precisely what game she was playing.
"So, can I leave now?" Qiao Meixia asked flatly.
Without waiting for a single reply from any of them, she turned on her heel and casually walked away, leaving Jiang Yanna and her circle of friends standing frozen in the hallway.
The group frowned deeply as they watched Qiao Meixia’s receding back. They wanted to shout something to stop her, but they could not find a single valid excuse to do so. After all, Jiang Yanna herself had just explicitly told them that Qiao Meixia had not pushed her. They could hardly turn around and accuse Qiao Meixia again without looking completely foolish.
Jin Zexi looked utterly perplexed.
She turned to Jiang Yanna with a deep frown. "Yanna, are you truly sure she did not shove you?"
"Yes. I probably just lost my balance when I accidentally stepped backwards." Jiang Yanna immediately nodded her head vigorously.
"But you hit the floor pretty hard..." Jin Zexi stated.
"I know." Jiang Yanna forced a small, fragile smile onto her face. "It was really just a silly accident."
Wu Xiner watched Jiang Yanna’s performance from the side, remaining completely silent. She knew with absolute certainty that it was no accident. However, she also knew better than to foolishly expose Jiang Yanna’s lie in front of everyone. After all, she had her own calculated motives for staying close to the Jiang family’s cherished daughter.
Wu Xiner had never once considered Jiang Yanna a genuine friend. She simply understood that maintaining a close tie to someone from the prominent Jiang Family brought immense social status and practical benefits. As long as she played the role of a loyal companion, she could continue to reap those rewards.
So, she would continue playing her assigned part seamlessly. She would smile warmly whenever a smile was required. She would nod in soft agreement whenever she was expected to agree. And she would quietly, attentively observe from the shadows whenever Jiang Yanna showed her true, ugly colours.
Today was no different.
Wu Xiner lowered her eyelids slightly, hiding a cold, contemptuous sneer in her eyes.
Jiang Yanna might have easily fooled foolish people like Jin Zexi and the rest of her gullible followers. But she had not fooled her for a single second.
Meanwhile, Qiao Meixia had already reached the quiet entrance of her classroom. She did not waste a single thought or effort looking back at the drama behind her. To someone like her, the entire childish spectacle was nothing more than a minor, annoying waste of her time.
She entered the classroom holding the box carefully in her hands.
Shen Meiling immediately noticed Qiao Meixia bringing the box inside. After taking a closer, sharper look, she instantly recognised the signature packaging.
"Meixia, wait a minute. Isn’t that a box from the Not Today, Salad Can Die shop?" Shen Meiling asked, her eyes widening slightly.
"Hmm." Qiao Meixia gave a small nod.
"Where on earth did you manage to get that? Their physical shop does not even open until 12 p.m." Ruan Jiaojiao stated, looking utterly bewildered.
"I placed an order yesterday, and they delivered it directly to me this morning." Qiao Meixia explained plainly.
"What? Wait a second. You custom-ordered it? How? Do you personally know the owner or something?" Ruan Jiaojiao asked, her curiosity instantly peaking.
Qiao Meixia paused for a moment to think. The couple had never mentioned anything about keeping their true identities a secret. Since they had not explicitly told her to keep quiet, she figured it should be completely fine to share the truth with Shen Meiling and Ruan Jiaojiao.
"Yes, sort of." Qiao Meixia nodded.
"Who is he? Is he really handsome?" Ruan Jiaojiao blurted out immediately.
She had always secretly imagined that the mysterious baker behind Not Today, Salad Can Die must be a dashing, handsome man who had a soft spot for crafting exquisite sweets. After all, having never laid eyes on the owner herself, she had naturally constructed a romanticised image of him in her mind.
Qiao Meixia fell silent again as she recalled Xu Chanping’s mature appearance.
Xu Chanping was certainly not bad-looking, but she would not necessarily label him as an exceptionally handsome man either.
When compared to the various men she had encountered before, there was only one specific person who truly stood out in her mind.
Truthfully, she had only caught a brief glimpse of him a single time. Yet, in that fleeting moment, she had already internally classified him the most striking, breathtaking man she had ever seen.
Well, she did not actually know him, and chances were she would probably never run into him again anyway. There was absolutely no practical reason to waste time dwelling on a stranger.
"Meixia?" Ruan Jiaojiao called out gently, noticing that Qiao Meixia had suddenly drifted off into a daze.
Qiao Meixia snapped back to her senses.
