Chapter 50 - To The Rural West
Eleanor Seymour's expression froze shortly after. She did not expect such words to come out from Albion Black's mouth.
Cedric Doyle recovered from Albion's unexpected answer after a moment and shot him a contemptuous look.
There was a chance that Eleanor was using this person as a shield to force him to give up, but it was impossible for this person to be Eleanor's grandpa!
Cedric Doyle pointed his finger and Albion while facing Eleanor and said, "Look at the person you call your fiancé! He doesn't even dare to admit it! Instead, he is stepping over your head! Who is he to you, really?"
He did not believe the person was Eleanor's fiancé. However, he also believed they at least had some sort of relationship. Considering the person was more handsome than he was, he felt threatened.
"He is…"
Eleanor Seymour was stunned for words.
'Why didn't this person just willingly be my shield? Am I not pretty enough to charm him? Do I really have to admit him as my grandpa? But that would make him my father's…' Eleanor Seymour furrowed her brows.
Klein Seymour smiled wryly.
Since the Young Master did not want to act as his daughter's shield, no one can force him. He should just play along.
Klein Seymour took a few steps forward and greet Albion, "Father, please accept your son's sincerest greeting!"
"Dad!" Eleanor Seymour immediately cried, feeling outraged by what was happening.
At the same time, Cedric Doyle froze. He did not expect Klein Seymour to play along with this charade like this. What kind of situation was this? Who would believe it?
Klein Seymour patted Cedric Doyle on the shoulder and said, "Maybe next time, Cedric boy. Now, if you will excuse, we have a family dinner to attend."
"Come, Ellie."
After Klein Seymour called her, Eleanor Seymour could only dumbly follow along and get into the back of the white car. Shortly after Klein Seymour entered the driver's seat, the car drove off.
Cedric Doyle watched them leave silently for some time with a wrinkled expression. After a moment, he took out his phone and called a number.
Beep.
The call quickly connected before a man with a deep voice was heard on the other side.
[Is there something you need of me, Young Master Cedric?]
"There's a person that has been recently hanging around Eleanor Seymour and her family. I want you to dig up every piece of information you have on this person. He looks like…" Cedric Doyle began describing Albion's look appearance in detail.
[Understood, Young Master Cedric. Just leave it to me. Even if this person's information is buried deep into the depths of the earth, I'll make sure to dig it all up for you, Young Master.]
The person on the phone said.
"Good. Then I will be awaiting your news." Cedric Doyle said.
[Yes, Young Master.]
The call shortly ended. Afterward, Cedric Doyle glanced at the flower bouquet in his hand and felt a wave of frustration. However, he frowned and did not throw it away.
He flipped out his phone again and began scrolling through his list of contacts before making another call.
This time, a young lady with a coquettish voice picked up.
[Oh, my~ How rare it is for Young Master Cedric to call me. It seems you still remember this little lady~!]
"What are you doing right now? Let us hook up tonight." Cedric Doyle said bluntly without mincing his words.
[How brash~! Young Master Cedric is quite demanding. Fine, this lady happens to be free right now. When? And where?]
…
Meanwhile, Klein Seymour continued to drive within the other two seated quietly in the car as they headed home. The atmosphere in the car was rather stiff and silent.
Eleanor Seymour sat directly behind Albion and glared at his seat with an unhappy look while Albion remained unaffected. He simply scrolled through his phone with a nonchalant look.
After some time, Eleanor Seymour spoke, "I thought men are supposed to be happy to help beautiful women in trouble or am I attractive enough for you? Why were you unwilling to be my shield?"
"Don't you think you sound a little self-entitled just because you are pretty and were born into a relatively better household? Why do I have to be your shield? What's in it for me?"
Albion retorted.
After a moment, he shrugged nonchalantly and added, "I live to disappoint others and break their expectations of me."
He was a disappointment in his past life anyway.
"You…"
Eleanor Seymour was struck speechless by his words.
At the same time, Klein Seymour guffawed and said, "Young Master Albion is right, Ellie. You cannot expect men to do things for free. If you want him to be your shield, you have to at least make him your real fiancé!"
"In her dreams."
"No way!"
Albion and Eleanor denied simultaneously, causing Klein Seymour's expression to crumple awkwardly with a wry smile.
Klein Seymour shook his head disappointedly, thinking it might be impossible for romance to sprout between these two.
Since that is the case, he would not try to force it to happen. But how could he strengthen the relationship between his family and Young Master Albion?
Sometime later, they arrived home safely without mishap.
Anya Seymour had arrived home much earlier than them after finishing her classes in college for the day.
At that moment, she was sitting in the dining room while the scent of Jun Seymour's delicious cooking wafted outside from the opened kitchen windows.
Klein Seymour's appetite was immediately whetted, but he did not forget about Albion.
"Young Master Albion, would you care to join us for dinner?" Klein Seymour asked with considerations.
Eleanor Seymour raised an eyebrow, but she did not say anything.
Albion noticed her displeased expression and thought for a moment. Shortly after, he smiled slyly and asked, "Do you mind if I use your toilet?"
"Absolutely not!" Eleanor Seymour immediately cried out in objection.
Seeing Klein Seymour's frozen expression also, Albion chuckled and said, "I thought not."
"It's fine. I have things to do, so I will leave now. Remember to practice your Earth-Shattering Fist diligently." Albion left his words with a wave of his hand before departing the place on foot.
He did not really need to go to the toilet. He just wanted to make Eleanor angry as payback for her attempt to make him shield her. This was not him being petty. At most, it was a playful jab.
After Albion was gone from sight, Eleanor complained, "Dad! Can this person really help our family? Why does he seem so unreliable?"
Klein Seymour's smile slowly disappeared before he said to his daughter, "Take a look at this."
Boom!
He threw out an Earth-Shattering Fist at the stone mailbox and blew it into pieces, causing Eleanor Seymour to widen her eyes in shock at her father's impressive display of strength.
"What do you think this was?"
"An ancient martial art technique?"
Eleanor Seymour answered.
Klein Seymour nodded and continued, "Now, do you think someone who can freely give away an ancient martial art technique, be unreliable?"
Eleanor Seymour quickly shook her head.
"Dad, you're saying that person gave that ancient—"
Before Eleanor Seymour could finish her words, the front doors were swung open loudly as Jun and Anya rushed out to check the situation.
"What happened? I heard a loud noise just now…" Jun Seymour queried before her eyes became fixated on a specific spot.
"What on earth happened to our mailbox?!"
"It was dad's fault, mom! He broke it!"
Eleanor Seymour quickly sold him out faster than the speed of light, causing Klein Seymour to be stunned for words. He watched in horror as his wife walked over and pulled on his ear angrily.
"Why are you always breaking everything, Klein?! Don't you know it costs money to fix these things? Are you unhappy with the way I live? Is this your way of showing it, hmm hmm?"
"Jun, my dear wife. It's not like that at all…"
Klein Seymour did not know whether to laugh or cry. He needed to quickly explain before she makes him kneel on the washboard.
In the end, he was going to kneel on the washboard.
"Big Sis, you could check this out; Albion and dad are all over the local news today." Anya Seymour pulled on Eleanor's hand and dragged her inside the house to watch the old stream on her tablet.
Neither of them concerned themselves with their parents like it was a regular household drama in their home.
…
Meanwhile, Albion flagged a taxi after finding one passed by.
"Where to, Sir?"
"Hmm…"
Albion glanced down at the GPS map on his phone and said, "Take me to the rural west side of the city."
"Certainly, Sir.. Please buckle your seatbelt, and we will be on our own way immediately!" The taxi driver said enthusiastically.
