Chapter 212 - Maverick Cohen
"You came to the right place?" Reagan Declan repeated with a frown before he said, "Speak! Who are you? And what business do you have with our gangs?"
"You don't know me?" the middle-aged with sharp, intimidating brows casually asked.
Reagan Declan scrutinized the middle-aged man's face before he snorted, "Hmph, how am I suppose to know every Tom, Dick, and Harry that randomly pops up?"
The middle-aged man's eyes narrowed slightly with coldness.
Shortly after, he introduced himself in a low but grim tone, "I am the right-hand man of Emperor Polemos, second-in-command of Damocles, and chief instructor of special recruits, Maverick Cohen. Do you understand?"
"Hmph, just the right-hand man of… of… oh…" Reagan Declan began sweating profusely before he fixed his attitude and greeted humbly with a forced smile that looks like he was crying, "Well met, Sir Maverick…"
The right-hand man of Emperor Polemos! Second-in-command of Damocles!
Any of these two statuses were enough to give Reagan Declan and every one great scare, shock, and alarm. Obviously, the person had a humongous status!
But what was someone like that doing here?!
While the gang members silently wondered in shock, Meng Yan furrowed his brows thoughtfully for a moment before asking, "Sir Maverick is someone with an esteemed status, revered by many, and envied by all."
"Sir Maverick shouldn't have any business with small gangs of nobodies like us. For what reasons have you come to this rundown place? Surely, we have not done anything to catch the eye of Emperor Polemos," Meng Yan spoke.
"Maybe not the eye of Emperor Polemos, but you are connected to the one stands above His Majesty, Emperor Polemos, and all others," Maverick Cohen stated coolly.
Shortly after, he narrowed his eyes and said, "I've been tasked to fix you all into people worthy of being a part of the new Blackthorne Group established by the Lord who stands above all and reclaim sovereignty of this city. Even if you are nobodies, you'll all be somebodies after I'm done with you all."
The three gangs immediately looked at each other with startled looks but not so much shock as one would expect.
The state was too unbelievable that none of them believed it.
"The Lord… who stands above all?" Ah Zhen muttered before asking disbelievingly, "Perhaps, you are mistaken? We are not aware of being connected to such a great person—at least, I'm not."
"What about you guys?" Ah Zhen turned to the others and asked.
Everyone all shook their heads and voiced their lack of knowledge before Reagan Declan said, "If I knew such a person, I would have already boasted about it in front of everyone."
"The Lord above all is the one you call boss. Otherwise, why would I come here?" Maverick Cohen stated solemnly with a grim look.
He was the second-in-command of Damocles. It was beneath him to come to such a backward place and train the local thugs.
Nevertheless, orders from above were absolute. Therefore, Maverick Cohen will have it done even if he did not want to.
Shortly after his statement, Maverick Cohen cracked his knuckles and said with a cold smile, "Listen up, maggots. Your training will begin, effective immediately!"
"W-Wait a minute! This is too much to digest. What you said is simply too astonishing. Allow us to make a call and confirm with our boss—"
"No waiting!"
Maverick Cohen stated firmly with a non-negotiating tone before shifting his gaze to Reagan Declan with a cold glint.
"Let's start with you. Spar with me. I will gauge your martial arts progress and list all your shortcomings before devising an effective training plan for you," Maverick Cohen said with a cold smile.
Reagan Declan immediately felt his scalp tingled.
The person was definitely not going easy on him after he offended the person with his careless remark earlier.
"Can we talk about this?" Reagan Declan asked ruefully.
"No!"
"Oh, mummy…"

"Oh right." Albion suddenly paused his steps and called, "Fenriri."
"Yes, Master?" Fenriri hurried over with re-ignited excitement and enthusiasm before she asked, "Did you change your mind and wanted to bring Fenriri along?"
"No, that wasn't it…" Albion rubbed his head and said, "I'm leaving the equipment and weapons in your hand to distribute to the wolf-people as you see fit."
Fenriri was disappointed once more, but she quickly got over it and asked with surprise, "You're handing those over to me, Master? I can understand the weapons, but I'm not sure if the tribesmen are willing to wear used goods worn by humans."
"It seems you haven't noticed the value of these sets of equipment. The equipment of B-rank and A-rank Hunters are some of the best you would find in this world. Their defensive capabilities cannot be compared to common armor," Albion stated.
Even if he had the money to make the purchase, he would not be able to equip the wolf-people immediately.
These were quality sets of equipment in demand without a steady supply.
Even if Albion was not aware of such facts, it was easily guessed by how reluctant the hunters behaved when parting with their sets of equipment despite being quite willing when it came to their money.
"These silk and fabric clothes are also not common either. They have been enchanted and provides some special effects on the wearer," Albion added.
"Eh?" Fenriri softly exclaimed before she muttered, "Now that you mention it, Master, I do feel a sliver of Life Aura from this clothings. What kind of special effects does it have?"
"Well, I suppose you will only find out after you wear it. Just give it a wash, and it will be sparkling clean like brand new clothes," Albion stated with a smile.
Come to think of it, not all brand new clothes were spotless either.
There was always that one douchebag that scratches their balls or rubs their greasy hands on items while browsing the stores.
After passing several dozens of customers, the items would accumulate their germs and dirt.
As such, one should never pick the top item on display but the second or third item below it when they are shopping.
