Chapter 210 - False Alarm
"Within a few minutes, the package should arrive."
Albion's nonchalant and calm attitude made the matter seemed very simple, but how could such a large project like connecting the strongholds possibly be simple?
Jeffrey gazed at Albion, unconvinced.
Nevertheless, Albion no longer bothered with the mechanic. He had said enough, and actions speak louder than words.
Jeffrey did not have a single idea regarding where the boss would procure the material and labor force.
Even with the fastest airship available, no location came to mind, not to mention it would take several airships to deliver even a decent quantity of material for the project.
"Where would the mineral and labor force come from?" Jeffrey muttered to himself with a frown.
"Keep an eye on the sky to find out." Albion smiled lightly.
…
Outer Space, Damocles
Meanwhile, shortly after Albion's called ended, Emperor Polemos turned to a subordinate.
"The Lord has ordered. I want 5000 droids, 20000 tonnes of Phantasmium-Steel, and 50000 tonnes of meteorite iron sent to Glacia Continent's Stronghold 01," Emperor Polemos stated.
"Yes, Your Majesty!" the subordinate answered.
However, the subordinate spoke shortly after checking the storage reserves, "Your Majesty, we have a problem. We do not have enough mineral in our reserves."
Emperor Polemos paused briefly with a frown.
Damocles certainly have the resources to send out the designated amount of minerals. It just had many ongoing projects that also required it.
"The next batch scheduled for the Mars Colonization Project; cancel it and send it to Stronghold 01 with the droids," Emperor Polemos ordered.
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
The subordinate complied before relaying a set of orders to the droids through his communication tablet in hand.
Nevertheless, after the subordinate completed his task, he could not help but ask, "Your Majesty, are you sure it is alright to delay the Mars Colonization Project? Isn't it very important?"
"The Lord's orders are absolute," Emperor Polemos stated with an irrefutable tone.
"This subordinate understands," the subordinate bowed after a brief moment of surprise.
Poom, poom, poom!
Sometime later, a single starship containing 5000 droids departed Damocles's docking bay before several black rods were fired, quickly overtaking the starship within moments before shooting ahead.
Although they were called rods, they were comparable to the starship's size.
…
River City, Earth Federation Headquarters.
A world government official suddenly burst into the president's office in a rush and hurriedly informed, "President! We've just received word from the satellites! Damocles has fired!"
Before the president could reprimand the official for barging into his office, his expression quickly froze after hearing the person's words.
"The Swords of Damocles have been dropped? Is it heading?" the president quickly asked before muttering with concern, "Is Emperor Polemos waging another war against the other three?"
His forehead was filled with wrinkles.
"According to the satellite image capture, the objects did not look like the Swords of Damocles. However, they were many times larger than the Swords of Damocles! I'm afraid the destructive force generated from their impact will be even greater than the Swords of Damocles!"
"Even greater than the Swords of Damocles?" the president's expression turned horrific before he cried with alarm, "Does Emperor Polemos want to destroy the world?!"
"I want you to gather all information on Emperor Polemos's intention and come up with countermeasures, effective immediately!"
"I'm afraid it's too late, President," the official replied wryly before he said helplessly, "If Emperor Polemos truly wanted to destroy the world, no one will be able to stop him."
"Are you saying we should just wait for our deaths?" the president fell back on his seat.
…
The news of Damocles firing large objects into Earth's atmosphere could not be contained and quickly alarmed the world.
The giant rods were like brightly lit shooting stars as they shot across the night skies of the Aurora continent.
Multiple news outlets mentioned the end of the world, and people began saying their prayers while holding loved ones close.
All conflicts of interests and differences across the globe were put aside.
For an instance, the world was the most awake and united it had ever been as they welcomed the coming death stars in the skies.
The death of the world would put an end to all life.
…
Back in Stronghold 01, Jeffrey's knees began trembling after realizing the shooting stars were headed straight for the Glacia continent.
"Holy sh*t… We are all going to die…!" Jeffrey muttered.
Nevertheless, the expected doomsday did not arrive.
After reaching a certain distance from the ground, the several giant black rods suddenly activated their heavy braking system to decelerate their descent.
BOOM!
Several destructive impacts occurred as the giant rods landed in the waters off-shore from Stronghold 01, a few miles away!
However, the destructive force was only a minuscule fraction of its initial estimate, not enough to threaten the world.
Still, it was more than enough to swallow Stronghold 01!
Columns of freezing water rose to the skies in large tsunamis, threatening to sweep across the Glacia continent!
"Crazy bastard. I did ask for quick delivery, but I didn't expect Polemos will send it like this…" Albion muttered while gazing at the incoming tall body of water.
"Master!"
Fenriri and Fenrira came running back with alarm before Fenrira cried, "We need to evacuate everyone and get out of here quickly! The tsunami is coming!"
"No need," Albion shook his head before stating calmly, "I am here."
Shortly after, he took a giant leap into the sky and clenched his fists.
"Take this, Serious Gattling Punches."
Albion threw out numerous punches in quick successions like a certain rubber-man. Each punch ripped through the air and blew holes in the wall of water like powerful air cannons.
Within moments, the tsunami was dispersed into light showers that sprinkled down on Stronghold 01 from the sky
The tsunami was shocking, but Albion's display of brute strength was even more shocking!
"The Lord's strength is unparalleled!"
The wolf-people prostrated in worship while the five human subordinates widened their eyes with great shock and disbelief.
Such strength had only been seen in movies, and it was only through special effects—never actually realized.
"The boss was actually this strong…?!" Jeffrey exclaimed before muttering to himself, "To think humans can have such brute strength… What level did the boss reach exactly to achieve this sort of unimaginable strength?"
…
Meanwhile, the people worldwide waited and waited; some embraced death calmly while others remained on tenterhooks.
However, the anticipated end of the world did not occur.
On live news, a male anchor prayed with his fingers interlocked and eyes closed for some time before the silence became awkward.
Shortly after, the male anchor received a piece of information from his earpiece before he opened his eyes and cough awkwardly, "Ahem, it seems like it was a false alarm."
"I just received word that the giant rods launched from Damocles have landed in the Glacia continent, and the destruction level of the impact is only regional, not enough to threaten the world. We're safe, everyone."
The forums quickly became lively at once.
[SteadyAsMountain301: It seems like Emperor Polemos was trying to reclaim the Glacia continent from the beast-people… We have all misunderstood him.]
[ICan'tRun427: Your Majesty, Emperor Polemos, I am sorry for calling you a madman! You are a real man and a hero!]
[GreatSageEqualHeaven02: Right! With Emperor Polemos's intervention, humans will surely reclaim the sovereignty of the Glacia continent from the hands of those beast-people!]
[CuriousReader49: Haiz, it seems like everyone is already here. I am also sorry to Emperor Polemos for cursing him before… He won't hold a grudge against me, will he?]
[GreatSageEqualHeaven02: He will. You're f*cked, bro. Better count your days.]
[CuriousReader49: Sh*t.]
[SunWuDong541: Hahaha, don't scare him.]
[GreatSageEqualHeaven02: @SunWuDong541, I see you have also come to be made fun of again.]
[SunWuDong541: @GreatSageEqualHeaven02, please don't… enough of that already.]
…
After Albion landed back on the ground, Fenriri rush up to him before she chimed excitedly, "Master, that was so awesome! You were so powerful just now!"
"Naturally." Albion smiled slightly.
Fenrira arrived not long after and mentioned with lingering fear, "But what were those things just now? Were they meteors from outer space?"
"No, those were packages sent from Damocles,"
"Those were the packages holding materials for the project?" Jeffrey's lips twitched before he inwardly thought, "Well, I'll be damned. That was like some world-destruction packages!"
Nevertheless, Jeffrey looked at Albion with newfound respect. With such a powerful boss, his future seemed bright following the person.
"For the boss to be able to ask someone to send such large packages from Damocles, your status there must not be simple," Francis's eyes flickered thoughtfully before shifting his gaze upon the spaceship.
"I thought it was just my imagination, but now that boss mentioned Damocles, that spaceship does look quite similar to Emperor Polemos's private spaceship."
"Not similar. It is Polemos's private spaceship," Albion corrected calmly.
Suddenly, Francis and Jeffrey's eyes flickered as if they had come to a realization before Jeffrey slowly assumed, "Boss, doesn't that mean that you are Emperor Polemos's…"
"That's right," Albion nodded calmly and admitted, "I am his—"
"Grandson, right?!" Jeffrey interrupted before Albion could finish and said with excitement, "How incredible! To think our boss has such a big status! What luck I have, hahaha!"
Albion nearly staggered.
Shortly after, he gave Jeffrey a resounding smack on the head before he cussed, "You're his f*cking grandson! Your whole family are his f*cking grandsons!!"
"Jeffrey, you are a big idiot at times, you know that?" Francis shook his head and said, "You have seen the boss's strength for yourself just now."
"Ask yourself, do you think any of the four emperors' strength is comparable to this?"
