Chapter 137 - Cao Wudi's Plight
Silvercove City's central district
Hunter Association Building
"Easy on the goods… Yes… That spot will do. Yep, place it right there…" Branch Leader Johnson personally directed as the workers carried a porcelain vase and placed it in his desired spot with care.
"Perfection!" He exclaimed with an 'ok' gesture.
Looking at the completely refurbished lobby without a trace of damage, Branch Leader Johnson let out a sigh of satisfaction, "It's finally done."
"Is there anything else you need from us, Branch Leader?" One of the workers asked respectfully, patiently awaiting Branch Leader Johnson's confirmation that their work is done.
"No, that is all." Branch Leader Johnson shook his head and said, "Thank you for the hard work. The two of you can leave and take your well-deserved breaks."
"Thank you, Branch Leader." The two workers expressed.
"Since the refurbishment is completed, please have a look at these documents, Branch Leader," Secretary Jane spoke on the side before passing a black folder over, "After calculating the cost of refurbishment, we still have $1,480,500 in excess funds from what Emperor Polemos sent us."
"Should we send the rest back to Emperor Polemos or invest in one of our departments? Also, there's been a large increase in applications for the Hunter Exam. I'm afraid the Hunter Exams will be overloaded with participants if we continue holding it once a year."
"Hmm…" Branch Leader Johnson hummed while perusing the documents in the black folder.
After tapping his feet for a moment, Branch Leader Johnson spoke, "Although the amount of excess fund is only a minuscule sum for Emperor Polemos… Out of courtesy, we should send it b—"
Rumble!
The ground suddenly shook from a heavy impact that occurred outside the Hunter Association Building!
More precisely, the impact seemed to have come from the exact location that Emperor Polemos arrived in his spaceship last time.
Crack!
The sound of something shattering behind Branch Leader Johnson made his expression freeze in that next moment!
"That was the sound of the porcelain vase breaking, wasn't it?" Branch Leader Johnson asked without looking back.
After Secretary Jane took a peek, she nodded, "Yep. That $1,000,000 antique you bought with money from your own pockets."
"Grrrr—arghhhhh!"
Branch Leader Johnson closed his eyes painfully for a moment before growling like an angry beast to release his pent-up frustration.
"Okay, I'm good now. Let us head out and see what caused the disturbance," Branch Leader Johnson said calmly shortly after.
…
Inside of Polemos's private spaceship parked outside of the Hunter Association Building, Cao Wudi was seen squatting in a corner before shortly realizing everything fine.
"The spaceship didn't crash?"
Cao Wudi glanced outside the thick tempered glass window before realizing where the spaceship had auto-piloted to the second last trip that Emperor Polemos made.
"Phew… I thought I was going to die…" Cao Wudi patted his chest with relief.
Shortly after, he opened the hatch to exit the spaceship.
However, not long after he left the private spaceship, he was immediately hustled by a group of angry road workers.
"Oi, you! What the hell are you doing?! How dare you parked your spaceship here and ruin the road again after we just patched it up! Do you think this is funny?! Is this some sort of joke to you?!"
"I—Ugh… I didn't…" Cao Wudi was stunned.
"You didn't, what? You didn't park this spaceship here? Is that what you want to say?!" One of the road workers barked.
"Y-Yes! You're exactly right!" Cao Wudi nodded vehemently and stated firmly, "It wasn't me!"
However, the road workers did not easily believe him and immediately thundered, "Bullsh*t! If it wasn't you, then who was it?!"
"It was my… my… "
Cao Wudi wanted to say it was his master that piloted the spaceship, but he immediately wanted to cough blood from excessive frustration.
His master was not around.
"Brother Cao, I just checked. There is no one else in the spaceship! This person was definitely the pilot who destroyed our hard work!" Another road worker spouted after exiting the spaceship.
"Now, what do you have to say for yourself?! You better compensate us for the damages!" Brother Cao thundered before he suddenly frowned, "Come to think of it, you look a little familiar…"
"Mister Wudi! You're back!"
Branch Leader Johnson strolled over from the Hunter Association Building before noticing the plight Cao Wudi had found himself in.
"Is everything alright here? Do you need my help, Mister Wudi?" Branch Leader Johnson inquired before throwing Brother Cao and the other road workers a glance.
At the same time, Brother Cao realized the reason for Cao Wudi's familiarity before he spoke enthusiastically with a friendly smile, "So it's Hero Wudi! No wonder you looked familiar!"
"Don't worry about the compensation, Hero Wudi! We won't make you pay it!"
"About this, It's—"
"This will not do," Branch Leader Johnson interrupted Cao Wudi with a shake of his head before speaking to the road workers, "Life is not easy for humble road workers. I will pay for the road damage."
"Jane, please use our excess funds and settle the details with these gentlemen for me."
"Yes, Branch Leader." Secretary Jane complied.
Shortly after, Branch Leader Johnson patted Cao Wudi's shoulder and said in a friendly manner, "Come, Mister Wudi. You came back just in time. Let us talk back in my office."
"This… Well, alright." Cao Wudi nodded.

Southern Suburban District
Inside the abandoned gym, the gang members gathered around Albion shortly after Reagan Declan finished knocking Michael Dao into shape.
"Boss, what are your plans? What should we do about the Metti Gang?" Meng Yan inquired.
"Plans, huh? I can just retake everything by myself… but if none of you are strong enough to keep, then there is no point in wasting my effort…" Albion contemplated before asking, "How strong are you now?"
"Most of us have achieved Level 15 Hunter or higher, boss."
"Level 15 Hunter? Hm, not bad. Guess you all just need to improve your martial arts now…" Albion muttered.
Suddenly, he recalled many martial art manuals were stored in the Ashura Ring, among numerous other things.
"Reagan!"
"Yes, boss?"
Reagan Declan quickly answered after being called before Albion withdrew a martial art manual and passed it over, "This is for you to learn."
"This is… Jeet Kune Do? I've never heard of this martial art before…"
"Whether you heard of it or not, does not matter.. What's important is that I believe this martial art is very suitable for you," Albion stated with a profound smile.
