Chapter 877: The Invasion [2]

Yuliya charged like a red comet with an aura of a storm of blood-red lightning and roaring flames.

Wings of lightning unfurled behind her, propelling her forward with blistering speed.

*sleesh* The katana in her grip elongated further, and its edge blazed in a whip of fire-laced plasma that trailed embers.

*SWOOOOSH*

She slashed downward in a vertical arc, and crimson flames erupted in an enormous slash that could incinerate a small moon.

Zhao Tian met her head-on and slashed his sword while condensing his 'space' energy along the blade.

*THOOOM*

The blast wave shattered a nearby cluster of asteroids into fine cosmic dust.

Lirien banked sharply as she dashed through the debris field to keep an eye on him.

The shockwave hurled both of them apart, but neither relented.

Yuliya twisted mid-tumble, and flames coiled around her free hand, condensing into a bolt of searing fire infused with crackling lightning.

She hurled it forward like a comet-tailed projectile that streaked through space, straight towards Zhao Tian.

He dodged with a casual sidestep, and the bolt exploded harmlessly against a drifting meteor far behind him.

The rock vaporized in a bloom of molten slag and plasma.

Zhao Tian counterattacked immediately and thrust his sword at her.

Yuliya crossed her katana in defense and blocked it.

*CLANG*

But the force still slammed into her, sending her spiraling backward through space.

'Huh? Why... is there a 'weight' behind his attack?'

She crashed shoulder-first into a massive asteroid, and the impact cracked the rock in two, sending chunks hurtling in all directions as she burst out the other side.

Red lightning arced from her body, grounding into the debris and turning nearby fragments into electrified hazards that buzzed and sparked.

Seeing this, Zhao Tian's eyes narrowed slightly 'So she has affinities to Fire, lightning and light...'

She dashed forward again, closing the gap in a zigzag pattern that left afterimages of flame in her path.

As she neared, she unleashed a flurry of slashes... horizontal, diagonal, and vertical slashes and each one was backed by bursts of fire that exploded on contact with anything they touched.

*swoosh* *swoosh* *swoosh*

Zhao Tian parried the first slash with his sword, the clash sending another shockwave that pulverized a small meteoroid drifting between them.

Sparks flew as he countered with a punch, slamming into her guard.

*THUD*

The impact connected with her crossed arms as the force rippled through her body, and she was hurled back into another asteroid field.

She smashed through three rocks in succession, exploding the meteors into clouds of rubble and dust.

"Not just blades, then," she murmured, wiping a thin line of blood away with her thumb.

*WHOOSH* Fire swirled around her katana in a vortex of flames, while lightning crackled from her fingertips, forming a net of electrified chains that lashed out toward him.

The lightning chains waved through space, exploding into bursts of red plasma wherever they struck debris as meteors vaporized in chain reactions that lit up the space like a fireworks display.

Zhao Tian dashed through the chaos, his body blurring with speed.

He slashed one chain apart with his sword, but another lightning chain wrapped around his ankle mid-leap.

He yanked the chain toward him, pulling Yuliya off-balance and into his range.

He feinted a high cut, then drove his knee upward into her midsection, cracking her ribs.

*THUD* Yuliya grunted, and flames erupted from her mouth like a fire breath that forced him to dodge sideways.

She followed up with a spinning kick wrapped in lightning, and her boot connected with his shoulder, sending volts arcing through his body.

Zhao Tian rolled with the impact, crashing into a nearby meteor and using the rebound to launch himself back at her.

He punched her face with his offhand, sending her tumbling through another cluster of rocks.

*woosh* *woosh* *woosh*

The fight devolved into a high-speed chase through the asteroid belt as Yuliya dodged between boulders, hurling fireballs that detonated entire clusters into infernos, and Zhao Tian pursuing relentlessly.

*THOOM* *THOOM*

Explosions bloomed everywhere, and Lirien circled the fray from afar, watching the fight.

Yuliya, standing atop a spinning asteroid, raised her katana high, and a massive lightning storm brewed around her.

Crimson bolts forked out in all directions, igniting firestorms on every surface they touched.

*SSWWOOOOOSHHHH*

She unleashed it in a single, devastating wave and a tsunami of electrified flame roared toward Zhao Tian.

He countered with a sweeping slash of his sword, creating a barrier of pure light that split the wave in two.

*SLEESH*

The divided energies exploded against flanking meteors, vaporizing them in twin supernovas that briefly outshone the distant Elven Star.

But in the chaos, Zhao Tian saw his opening.

He vanished and amidst the chaos, he used his teleportation.

'Huh?... my back?' Yuliya's eyes widened in genuine surprise as she spun and whipped her katana around to defend her back.

But it was too late.

He reappeared behind her and cleaved his sword in a vertical slash aimed to tear her from shoulder to hip.

The edge bit deep into her cloth, drawing a spray of blood that froze instantly in the vacuum.

Yuliya staggered forward, and flames erupted from the wound in a reflexive burst that forced him back a step.

She turned to face him and her eyes were trembling with astonishment. "Teleportation?" she gasped, clutching the gash that was already knitting closed with her light energy.

"Now you're fighting like a true Honoured One! So it is true... Honoured Ones can comprehend the law of 'space' and 'time'. "

Hearing this, Zhao Tian was surprised 'How does she know that...'

Swirling the blade in his hand, he uttered "Seems like you know a lot about Honoured Ones."

Yuliya just grinned "Being the leader of the Space Pirate Organization has its perks, you know."

"I have branches all across the High Stars, middle and lower stars too. A lot of information passes through me..."

Gripping her katana, she dashed forward "Lets keep the chit-chat for later..."

"... and continue our fight."
