Upon hearing Lu Ye’s words, Yu Daiwei gave it some thought and told Dao Thirteen, “You don’t have to enter this house, but whenever he shows up, you have to follow him around without letting him out of your sight!”
“Yes,” Dao Thirteen replied monotonously.
“Just stay here.” Yu Daiwei glanced mockingly at Lu Ye before walking towards the exit. It seemed she was ready to leave.
Lu Ye followed her. Knowing what his intention was, Yu Daiwei never stopped him.
A moment later, the exit opened up, and Yu Daiwei left the place. After she was gone, the exit closed again.
Lu Ye turned to look at Dao Thirteen and thought about how likely he could kill the burly man if he used the Dragon Throne.
Although he had no idea about which Minor Realm in the Divine Ocean Realm Dao Thirteen was in, he was certain the burly man was weaker than Yu Daiwei.
However, looking at the other man’s sturdy figure, Lu Ye gave up on the idea.
It was too difficult for him to deal with a Divine Ocean Realm Master head-on. Moreover, even if he managed to kill him, it wouldn’t help with his plan of fleeing this place. He would still be stuck in this Hidden Realm.
That said, after the Lord and Yu Daiwei were gone, only a dull-witted Dao Thirteen was left. The chance that Lu Ye had been waiting for had arrived.
Previously, Yu Daiwei had always been in this nameless Hidden Realm, so Lu Ye couldn’t carry out his plan. Naturally, he wouldn’t resign himself to fate.
In the past few days, he didn’t just stay idly by and do nothing. He already had a clear plan as to how to escape from this place.
Initially, he thought he couldn’t carry out the plan in a short time, but much to his surprise, the chance came sooner than he had thought.
As he ambled towards the wooden house, Dao Thirteen followed him closely. Just as Yu Daiwei had told Dao Thirteen to do, he would never let Lu Ye out of his sight.
Lu Ye tried to converse with him but received no response, so he could only give up.
In the wooden house, Lu Ye sat down cross-legged and focused on observing the Tree of Glyphs.
In the past few days, he had been activating the Tree of Glyphs and absorbing the power of Fire Spirit Stones. A lot of leaves had been set aflame.
Most of the leaves didn’t carry any Glyphs. Despite that, he had still acquired two new ones.
He hadn’t tried to find out what the two new Glyphs were because he had some expectations. He wanted to acquire more Glyphs first and see if he could get the one he had been longing for.
However, he had used up his Fire Spirit Stones, and Yu Daiwei was gone. Naturally, he couldn’t keep waiting.
He had a feeling that the more he wanted something, the harder it was for him to get it.
As he focused on looking into his soul, the complicated patterns on the Tree of Glyphs magnified before his eyes. Following that, a lot of information streamed into his mind.
Fortunately, he already had a Divine Ego, so he could better resist the impact on his mind. He only felt some slight pain before becoming fine again.
A lot of information exploded in his mind, and he soon figured out what the new Glyphs were for.
[United as One…] It wasn’t the Glyph that Lu Ye had been hoping to get.
After studying the new Glyph for a moment, he was surprised. Strictly speaking, the Glyph was similar to Phoenix Wings. It could be used to draw energy from each other, but it could be applied to more people.
Phoenix Wings could only be used on two people as they could borrow each other’s powers.
United as One worked similarly, but it wasn’t limited to two people. All the people within the Glyph’s coverage could draw energy from each other. As for how effective it was, Lu Ye had no idea as he had never used it before.
In comparison, both Glyphs had their pros and cons. Anyway, United as One was more suitably used to create a formation.
It was difficult to get different cultivators to create a formation. After all, their different auras, cultivations, and temperaments would serve as the resistance to starting a formation.
Only cultivators who were the best of friends or those who had collaborated for a long time had a chance to form a formation. Once a formation was established, the auras between the cultivators would be closely connected, which would allow them to use a power that far surpassed any individual cultivator.
As such, United as One wasn’t merely used to draw energy from each other. It could unite the powers of different cultivators so that they could use a power that was much greater than their own.
It was a wonderful Glyph, but it was useless to help with Lu Ye’s predicament.
He then took a look at the other Glyph, which was called Soul Control. It was a Divine Glyph that had to be activated using Divine Ego.
This reminded Lu Ye of another Divine Glyph he had, which was Charm. Both Glyphs shared many similarities.
When he was in the Lost City of Xianyuan back then, he made use of Charm to enslave a group of insectoids. With their help, he killed many enemies and earned a lot of battle points, which were traded for Soul Cleansing Water.
However, Charm was used to bewitch others. Under the Divine Glyph’s influence, insectoids with low sentience would obey his orders.
On the other hand, Soul Control would allow the user to have absolute control over another person’s Divine Soul. One was used to bewitch others, whereas the other could be used to control another person’s Divine Soul. They were naturally different.
[This Glyph…] Lu Ye’s eyes brightened as he rose to his feet and opened the door.
Dao Thirteen stood outside the house like a log. Although his burly figure looked inflexible, it contained immense power.
“Lift your head,” Lu Ye ordered.
Dao Thirteen simply ignored him.
A helpless Lu Ye secretly activated his Divine Ego and used Soul Control on Dao Thirteen.
After several encounters, Lu Ye discovered something was wrong with Dao Thirteen’s sentience. Although he was powerful, he was slow-witted.
Therefore, Lu Ye wanted to find out if he could use Soul Control on Dao Thirteen. If he succeeded, he could easily control the latter.
It would be wonderful if he could just tell Dao Thirteen to open up the exit, after which he could leave.
Nevertheless, Lu Ye could feel some powerful resistance against his Divine Ego. It was an invisible barrier. It was Dao Thirteen’s Soul Power Shield!
Although this guy was unintelligent, he was a Divine Ocean Realm Master, after all. Naturally, it wasn’t easy to break through his Soul Power Shield.
On the other hand, Lu Ye’s mind started buzzing like he had crashed his head into a steel wall. He became dizzy in an instant.
It was a match between their Divine Souls, but it was apparent that Dao Thirteen had gained the upper hand.
Lu Ye shook his head as his vision normalised. Dao Thirteen stared at him with a scowl. He seemed to be furious.
Ignoring him, Lu Ye rested for a while and activated Soul Control again.
With a boom, he felt as if he had hit his head against a steel wall again. The pain was sharper this time as he could hardly retain his balance.
When he finally came to his senses, he felt nauseous as his throat was sore. These were the signs that he had used too much of his Mental Power.
He wouldn’t have reacted this way if he had only activated a Divine Glyph. Nevertheless, since he couldn’t break through Dao Thirteen’s Soul Power Shield, he suffered a huge backlash.
He quickly consumed a drop of Soul Cleansing Water to restore his power.
Then, he lifted his head and saw Dao Thirteen getting more furious. The burly man clenched his fists as his knuckles cracked. His eyes widened angrily, and his breath spurted out of his nostrils. He seemed determined to beat Lu Ye up.
Lu Ye felt his eyelids twitching while feeling guilty. He felt like he was bullying an honest man. He hardened his heart and used Soul Control on Dao Thirteen for the third time.
If he still couldn’t succeed this time, he wouldn’t try it for the fourth time as it would be pointless to keep doing so. He had mentally prepared himself for this. It was an accident that he developed a Divine Ego and nurtured a Soul Body, but he wasn’t a Divine Ocean Realm Master, after all.
Although his Divine Soul could be considered powerful among the Real Lake Realm Masters, it was nothing compared to that of a Divine Ocean Realm Master. It was extremely difficult for him to break through Dao Thirteen’s Soul Power Shield.
A sense of sharp pain shot through him again as he started seeing Stars. He could see a fist magnifying before his eyes before he collapsed to the ground and lost consciousness.
He only regained consciousness a long time later. Thanks to the drop of Soul Cleansing Water he had consumed, he didn’t feel much discomfort. It was just that quite a lot of his Soul Power was gone from his Divine Pool.
He slowly got to his feet and shook his head. When he noticed an anomaly, he wiped his nose and saw that his hand was covered in blood.
As he recalled what had happened before he blacked out, he glowered at Dao Thirteen. “How dare you attack me!?”
When his Divine Soul was in chaos earlier, he only saw a fist magnifying before his eyes. It wasn’t until now that he realised Dao Thirteen had punched him.
Dao Thirteen hung his head low and remained unmoving. Although he was dull-witted, he knew he had done something wrong. It was just that he couldn’t stop his body from reacting instinctively earlier.
Lu Ye snapped. “Your Master only told you to keep an eye on me. Who said you could punch me?”
With that, he charged forward and landed a kick on Dao Thirteen’s chest.
Dao Thirteen only shook a bit, but he was generally fine. On the other hand, a myriad of expressions came over Lu Ye as he slowly lowered his leg, which was visibly trembling.
This guy’s body was indeed as hard as steel. He was fine following the kick, but Lu Ye’s leg had turned numb.
After the kick, Dao Thirteen’s body flinched slightly. He already had a hunched back, and he had now lowered his figure further, looking like he had made a mistake.
“There’s no next time!” Lu Ye glared at him and slammed the door shut before rubbing the back of his calf, which was suffering from a cramp.
He finally confirmed that Soul Control was useless against Dao Thirteen. At the very least, it wouldn’t be effective before his Soul Power surpassed that of Dao Thirteen. Since he couldn’t break through the man’s Soul Power Shield, how was he supposed to control him?
Inside the wooden house, Lu Ye got some rest and activated Spectral Image.
A moment later, a Soul Clone made from his Spiritual Power and vitality took shape. He then cast Twin Lotus Flowers on the Soul Clone.
Following that, the Tree of Glyphs extended a root into the Soul Clone, which soon solidified and turned into a being that was no different from the main body.
