Chapter 157: Chap.154 - Quidditch Tryout - Part.2
The Chasers' test didn't stop because of Rigel, although his goals were beautiful, there were still two more students to try, but both performed very poorly, neither of them scoring a goal.
In the end, it was Alicia and Catia who competed for last place. Catia secured the position by scoring 2 goals, while Alicia only managed one. The girl cried with sadness but was comforted by her friends.
Harry's test was right after that, they had already had their first flying lesson. As Rigel had predicted, Draco didn't mess with Neville, and Neville didn't lose control of his broom this time either, thanks to the training with the twins.
Harry already knew that riding a broomstick was very easy, but this time it wasn't so simple. Harry needed to consider not only catching the Snitch, but also avoiding making a fool of himself in front of the crowd.
There was only one other fourth-year student competing with Harry, so the test was much simpler: catching the Snitch.
There were no other players, just the two of them.
When Wood released the snitch, the other student grinned and darted after him, Harry following close behind, a little dazed by the situation.
However, the difference in talent soon became evident, even with his glasses, Harry could discern the movement of the Snitch, and he could maneuver the broom with great skill. To be honest, Rigel, seeing the boy's talent and quickly taking the lead, felt a little envious again.
Harry had only had one flying lesson, yet he flew much better than several students he had seen, it was as if the broomstick was a part of him.
Rigel even considered testing Harry's talent for wind spells, the boy really seemed to have talent in that area, but it could just be a more physical talent. It remained to be seen if there was any 'magic' involved.
The Seeker test was the last one because there was no way to know how long it would take, in Quidditch, the game doesn't end until the Snitch is caught, meaning it could take minutes, but it could also take days.
The longest game in history took 3 months to finish, of course there were breaks, but it still showed just how crazy Quidditch matches could be.
Fortunately, these were just school games, if the Snitch wasn't caught by the start of classes, the game would simply be ended. There was no way Hogwarts could shut down for three months for a game.
Still, the group was prepared to stay there for at least a few hours, so the surprise came when Harry caught the Snitch in less than 5 minutes.
Wood was stunned again, but the next moment, the boy who thought he couldn't get any happier was the first to run up to Harry, shouting excitedly.
Although the celebration that followed didn't compare to Rigel's, the Gryffindors' excitement was still evident, with all eyes focused on Harry. It was easy to see that it wasn't just luck, but genuine talent, something Wood could see even more clearly.
For him, this year's Quidditch Cup was already theirs.
It didn't take long after that for the team selection to be announced.
Katie Bell, Angelina Johnson, Rigel Black as Chasers.
Fred and George Weasley as Beaters.
Oliver Wood as Keeper and captain.
Harry Potter as the Seeker.
Although Alicia was sad, she could still play if there were last-minute substitutions needed, so she would still train with them.
The Gryffindor group returned excitedly to the castle. Fred and George went to the kitchen to get food from the elves to have a celebratory feast in the Gryffindor dormitory. Even McGonagall, who had been secretly watching the whole time, approved of this, although she herself did not participate. The woman had a slight smile on her lips that she couldn't completely hide.
Rigel didn't go directly to them, instead, he spoke to Calypso.
"You're really very good at playing." The woman hugged him as soon as he approached.
Kreacher, although he still didn't like Gryffindor, was still happy, nevertheless, Rigel actually found his appearance very funny.
"Everything's fine." Rigel shrugged, he was just having fun, especially with the last goal. He knew that even if he missed, he could still compete again, so he decided to 'play around' a bit.
Calypso rolled her eyes, seeing Rigel with that indifferent look, but the corner of his lips turned up still showed that he was happy.
Fortunately, Calypso didn't know the term Tsundere, so she just shook her head, took a box out of her bag, and upon opening it, saw a cake with white frosting and a small figure of Rigel on a broomstick swimming across it, with an N#1 in the middle.
"I did this for you." She seemed proud.
Rigel pursed his lips, pretending not to care, but he still felt touched inside. "Thank you." He said as he took the cake.
"Okay, you can go now, your friends want to celebrate with you." Calypso nodded to him, ready to leave with Kreacher.
"It's all right, no rush, we can eat the cake together." Rigel hesitated a little, but finally spoke.
Calypso smiled, a very wide and happy smile, she sat down again, patting the spot beside her, Rigel sat down there and she began to take utensils out of her bag, plates, cutlery, glasses...
Rigel rolled his eyes, it seems she came prepared.
Soon they were eating together, Kreacher was practically forced by Calypso to participate, the elf ate his piece of cake shedding tears, feeling that he didn't deserve this, but very happy nonetheless, he ate slowly, afraid of finishing the cake quickly.
Jack had already left with the Twins a long time ago, so he didn't participate.
They chatted lightly, Calypso talking about having sorted out Clemens' life, she said she had returned there a few days ago, Clemens and Anna had already moved, and Clemens had already started his studies.
Rigel simply nodded, talking a little about his week, it had been light, the cake was good, not too sweet, just the way he liked it.
In the end, he left after saying goodbye, giving Calypso a light hug, only to be squeezed tightly by the woman, forcing him to roll his eyes and quickly flee amidst her laughter.
When Rigel reached the Gryffindor tower, the Gryffindors roared with excitement and he was launched back into the air, being tossed up and down again.
He found it a little annoying, but not as much as usual. In the end, the party lasted several hours until Percy finally got tired and ended it all.
Percy was still annoyed by the sausage lips, but even he smiled at Rigel, after all, the Quidditch Cup awarded points, giving Gryffindor a better chance of finally being in first place again after several years of Slytherin winning.
Rigel was also somewhat interested in this, there should be a reward for being the first, right?
However, he wasn't really worried about being like Hermione, if the script followed the original, Dumbledore would still put them first.
Still, Rigel was excited, the Adventure Book had already opened the moment Wood classified him as part of the team, and he was eager to see what he had won this time.
