Chapter 155: Chap.152 - Anna and Clemens

[A/N: I'm not going to stick to realism in this chapter because I have no idea how some things work in England, just swallow it and move on, lol.]

The next day, Rigel left early with Calypso, today was going to be a long day.

The chosen location was a small village with about 200 inhabitants, Butterton.

The first thing they did was look for a house. They found a small, isolated house a little way from the village. It was abandoned, the place was practically uninhabitable, and had been since the beginning of the 20th century, which is why they managed to buy it from the owner for £24,000, although they had to change the date of purchase to decades earlier in the public records.

Yes, they paid for it.

After that, Calypso magically repaired the house, then Rigel took the two golden tickets and tore them up. Clemens and Anna appeared at the house, still wondering how the atmosphere had changed so suddenly.

It was going to be a busy day, so he couldn't spend much time explaining the situation. Rigel gave a general overview while Calypso continued to fix the house with magic.

"So, we're in another world, but it looks a lot like ours, only more than 200 years in the future?" Clemens asked, stunned, Anna wasn't much better off.

Rigel nodded. "Alright, now we're creating your identities. To do that, we'll need to change the memories of the Muggles... well, I forgot to mention this, in this world, Wizards live in anonymity, ordinary humans are called Muggles by English Wizards."

Rigel paused for a moment after explaining this, before continuing. "Anyway... we're going to change the memories of the local population so that you appear to have always lived here, you'll be a newlywed couple, is that a problem for you?"

The pair seemed a little embarrassed, but in the end, they accepted, and Anna seemed happier than usual because of it. Rigel didn't really need to do exactly that, but the attitude of both of them was obvious, so he gave them a push.

"Then I'll enroll you at Cambridge. Your medical knowledge is outdated, so you'll need to study everything again. Is there a problem with that?" Rigel asked curiously.

Clemens' eyes lit up, he was very happy with this arrangement. He was a man who loved learning, so even if he had to go to college again, he didn't mind. He nodded excitedly.

"Well, you'll be moving soon, so this house will only be useful for now. You'd better go to Cambridge after that. As for the money, I'll leave you some family heirlooms that you can exchange for pounds." Rigel continued thoughtfully.

Rigel took a little longer to explain everything, with Clemens and Anna asking some questions, but overall, even though they were still confused by the new environment, they adapted quickly.

Calypso finished his work here, the next part was to first alter the memory of each family. To do this, Calypso and Rigel visited every house, adding memories and then erasing their presence.

The most annoying part was changing the records, but luckily magic was very helpful in this process, and by the end of the afternoon, everything was ready, although Calypso seemed quite tired.

Now Clemens and Anna's memories had been augmented with several layers, built to explain their situation.

The last thing Rigel needed to do was a little less ethical.

At Anna and Clemens' house, after everything was done, the four of them were sitting at the dining table having tea.

"I need you to forget about us, about your original world, and about the wizards." Rigel explained, leaving Anna and Clemens confused.

Rigel explained that the wizards here could read memories, for them, who could not protect themselves, their minds were like open books.

Although the adventure book makes it clear that his mind is protected with regard to memories of the Adventure worlds and the book itself, Clemens' and Anna's minds are not, nor is Calypso's, but Rigel doubted that the wizards could get anything out of her, so he didn't care about that.

Rigel didn't want to leave loose ends, he preferred to err on the side of excess.

"I'll keep your original memories." Rigel explained, taking out two glass vials. "When the time is right, you'll remember everything."

Anna and Clemens exchanged glances, and in the end, though a little sad, they nodded understandingly.

Rigel looked at Calypso, who picked up the vials. First, she stored the previous memories. The number of memories stored was immense, their entire lives, but the small vials held everything, after all, memories had no physical 'size'.

Rigel stored the memories in his treasure, keeping them perfectly safe.

After that, she erased or altered everything she could. She didn't just erase everything, which would leave huge holes, but she also altered memories from their past to coincide with this world. This took several hours, leaving Calypso even more tired.

In the end, Rigel and Calypso left almost at curfew time at Hogwarts.

The next day, when they woke up, Clemens and Anna seemed to have had a long dream. Lying in their beds, they felt a prolonged headache, as well as a strange sensation. Although they sensed that something was wrong, having lost a large number of memories, they couldn't say what it was.

Even so, life had to go on.

The positive side was that the ice between Clemens and Anna disappeared, they acted as if they had been married for years, they already liked each other, but there was still a barrier of shyness between them, and that point disappeared.

Even so, they felt that their relationship still seemed new, so on that first day, Clemens and Anna had a lot of fun at home.

Although Rigel had classes, Calypso still had to go to Cambridge to add Clemens as a student, the process was simpler than expected, but she only finished everything in the afternoon.

Now everything depended on Clemens.

Quirrell hadn't been having a very good day.

The Dark Lord seemed quite irritated lately, especially when he approached Rigel, so he had been trying to avoid the boy at all costs.

However, while they were having breakfast at the teachers' table that day, Quirrell overheard McGonagall talking to Flitwick about how good Rigel's transfiguration was, clearly very proud of it.

At that moment, Quirrell, bound to the Dark Lord, didn't feel the rage he expected upon hearing Rigel's name, instead, he felt a trace of pride, though it was short-lived, and the next moment, that headache returned.

Quirrell had no idea what was happening with the Dark Lord, so he just ran away quickly, stammering an excuse.

Voldemort had mixed feelings about this 'son'.

To be honest, he had already forgotten about him.

However, upon seeing him initially, he didn't feel much, he might be useful in the future, but that was it. That was until he saw him enter Gryffindor, Voldemort felt the urge to grab his wand and cast the killing curse on that useless brat.

Fortunately, he could see the bigger picture, the philosopher's stone, that's the goal, so he began to ignore this flaw as if he didn't exist.

It wasn't until he heard McGonagall's comments that he realized the boy wasn't so useless after all, he was his son, it was normal that he was talented. Voldemort felt pride, yes, but not in Rigel, but in himself.

In his opinion, Rigel was merely a product of himself, any achievement Rigel had made was only a small fraction of what he had granted him.

From beginning to end, Voldemort's pride was only for himself.

However, when he thought about the useless boy living a meaningless life in Gryffindor, acting like a spoiled brat, he felt the urge to kill that wretch again.

All the talent that he was given, and yet he wastes it in this way.

Useless! Useless! Useless!

As Quirrell walked down the corridors, ready to dash to his classroom and hide, he overheard a conversation between two passing Gryffindor boys.

"Did you hear? Black is joining the Quidditch team!"

"Isn't that just a rumor?"

"No, I spoke to Wood, it's practically a sure thing."

Quirrell: ...

Voldemort: ...

Quirrell: Aaaaah! My head!
