Chapter 353 Miserable Fate Weaving Sovereign

— Meanwhile - Immortal Realm —

— Fate Weaving Sovereign Immortal Cave —

At the Immortal Isle of the Fate Weaving Sovereign, his personal chambers had finally been restored to their former glory. The shattered mirror had been reconstructed, the broken furniture replaced with new pieces, and every damaged ornament carefully restored or replaced.

Everything had been brought back into order, just as it had been before the destruction.

Other than this chamber, the entire immortal dwelling also had been restored by hi

As for the Fate Weaving Sovereign himself, he had recovered to more than fifty percent of his peak condition. Although his injuries were no longer as severe as before, he would still need more than a year to fully recover his strength.

To accomplish this much, he had exhausted nearly all the resources he had accumulated over his long lifespan. Those precious treasures, which he had painstakingly gathered over countless years, had been consumed to restore both his body and the Fate Peering Chamber, where he was currently cultivating.

Even for a man of his standing, such a price was hardly insignificant.

Having suffered such a heavy loss, the Fate Weaving Sovereign had become considerably more cautious. He no longer dared to meddle directly with Wei Chen’s fate.Every time he had tried to interfere with that bastard’s destiny, nothing good had ever come of it. If anything, he had ended up suffering one misfortune after another.

It was almost as though Wei Chen were a calamity star, or an entity that brought nothing but bad luck to him.

For now, he had to avoid meddling with that bastard’s fate.

At least, for now...

Unfortunately, as the Fate Weaving Sovereign, his very power came from meddling in the River of Fate. By manipulating the destinies of countless beings, he could siphon off the power he needed to sustain himself and recover from his injuries.

He couldn’t simply stop meddling in the River of Fate.

If he ceased manipulating fate altogether, where would he obtain the power necessary to heal himself?

Sacrificing mortals and cultivators like a typical demonic cultivator?

Of course, he had no qualms about massacring an entire sect or two. Even wiping out every mortal in the lower realm would be an option, provided the investment was worthwhile.

But doing so would undoubtedly attract those idiotic righteous factions, not to mention some Immortal Emperor candidate seeking to gather more followers. He would become a public enemy throughout the Immortal Realm!

He would also lose the luxury of manipulating fate quietly from behind the scenes. Instead, he would be hunted everywhere he went, constantly forced to deal with one troublesome opponent after another.

That was hardly ideal for his cultivation progress.

So... he came up with the best solution.

He would avoid meddling with Wei Chen’s fate specifically while continuing to manipulate the destinies of others. Surely, with so many beings in existence, he could find plenty of suitable targets without touching that bastard’s destiny.

And that worked perfectly well...

For the time being, he would leave Wei Chen alone and focus on safer targets. Once he had fully recovered his strength, he would reconsider his options.

After all, even a Sovereign had to know when to retreat. He wasn’t some foolish, obsessed lunatic who couldn’t let go of his hatred, after all.

While the Fate Weaving Sovereign was in the middle of cultivating to heal his injuries, he suddenly sensed a surge of fate power erupt from within the connection he had tethered between the River of Fate and his soul.

The eruption came without warning, so sudden and violent that he didn’t even have time to brace himself.

BANG!

The immense backlash struck his soul and heart, aggravating his already severe injuries. His heart shuddered violently, and for a brief moment, his life hung by a thread.

The Fate Weaving Sovereign’s expression changed drastically. He immediately channeled the power of fate, desperately redistributing the damage from his heart to other parts of his body. It was a dangerous method, but he had no other choice. If his heart were to suffer any further damage, even he might not survive.

Crack! Crack!

His bones fractured, his muscles tore, and his tendons severed under the transferred damage. The sound of cracking bones echoed through his personal chambers as his body was ravaged from within.

Although he had successfully protected his life, the same could not be said of his already injured body.

"Pfft!"

A mouthful of blood sprayed from his lips as he collapsed to the ground. His face was deathly pale, and his entire body trembled from the pain.

"What... What happened?"

The Fate Weaving Sovereign struggled to comprehend the sudden catastrophe. He had been cultivating peacefully, carefully recovering his strength while avoiding any direct interference with Wei Chen’s fate.

He hadn’t even touched that bastard’s destiny!

So why did this happen?

His bloodshot eyes suddenly turned toward the three Fate Peering Mirrors arranged within the chamber.

He needed to know what had happened.

He had to know!

The Fate Weaving Sovereign gritted his teeth and activated a forbidden technique, burning the power of fate he had accumulated within his body to reconstruct his severed tendons and repair his shattered bones.

The price was steep. Too steep, even for him. With every wisp of fate power consumed by the technique, his cultivation diminished further, undoing a portion of the progress he had painstakingly made over countless years.

Yet he had no choice.

His cultivation plummeted. The power of fate was barely holding his Immortal King-level cultivation together, and now, that cultivation was diminishing at an alarming rate.

Immortal King Middle Stage...

Immortal King Early Stage...

His cultivation continued to fall, dropping out of the Immortal King Realm and into the Golden Immortal Realm.

Golden Immortal Peak Stage...

Golden Immortal Late Stage...

Golden Immortal Middle Stage...

It kept dropping further and further until it finally stopped at the Golden Immortal Early Stage.

Only after he had recovered enough to move did the Fate Weaving Sovereign forcibly suppress his injuries and stagger toward the Fate Peering Platform.

Each step sent waves of agonizing pain throughout his body, his muscles and tendons protesting as though they might tear apart all over again. The short distance between him and the platform felt like an endless journey, and more than once, he nearly collapsed before managing to steady himself.

This... This was not normal. Whatever had happened in the River of Fate must have interfered with his recovery as well!

Finally, he arrived at the Fate Peering Platform.

With trembling hands, the Fate Weaving Sovereign channeled what remained of his power into the three Fate Peering Mirrors. He desperately needed to peer into the River of Fate and discover what had caused the sudden backlash.

Whatever had happened, he had to find out.

Even if the answer was the last thing he wanted to see.

Within the River of Fate, countless strands of destiny belonging to trillions of beings flowed through the vast river as they always had. At first glance, everything appeared normal. The Fate Weaving Sovereign could not detect anything unusual.

His avatar carefully waded through the strands of fate, moving cautiously and selectively avoiding any strand that had come into contact with Wei Chen. After everything he had suffered, he had no intention of provoking that calamity star again.

But then, he felt a tremor.

It came from ahead of him, from the very source of the River of Fate.

A colossal surge of changing fate was rushing toward him, sweeping through the river like a tsunami. Its overwhelming force surged toward the artificial construct he had built within the River of Fate, the very structure that allowed him to passively manipulate the strands of fate and siphon away their power.

It was like a tsunami rushing toward the Golden Gate Bridge, a structure daring to obstruct the unstoppable force of nature.

"Oh no..."

The Fate Weaving Sovereign could only utter those words in despair before the tsunami of changing fate crashed into his avatar and the artificial construct he had painstakingly built.

"ARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHH!"

Agonizing pain tore through his very soul as the artificial construct began to crumble. The structure he had spent countless years building was reduced to fragments, like a small building being swept away by an overwhelming force of nature.

Yet, amidst the destruction, the Fate Weaving Sovereign finally understood.

He had seen the truth behind the sudden and drastic changes in the River of Fate.

Billions upon billions of strands of fate had been stabilized. Countless lives had been saved. Deaths that should have occurred had been prevented, and countless beings who should have perished had been given another chance to live.

The changes were immense, spreading across the River of Fate like ripples from a stone thrown into an endless ocean.

And the cause...

It was all connected to Wei Chen.

"WEI CHENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!"

The Fate Weaving Sovereign’s scream of hatred and agony echoed through the River of Fate as his avatar shattered beneath the merciless tide of changing destiny.
