Chapter 2765: Story 2766: The Voice Beyond Creation
The golden eye stared at Ronan.
Every heartbeat in the corridor stopped.
Elias froze with one hand pressed against his chest. Aren’s silver chains fell lifelessly to the floor, while Darian’s violet flames disappeared as though an unseen hand had extinguished them.
Even the ancient Father bowed his head.
Only Ronan remained standing.
“Who are you?” he demanded.
The eye blinked.
The golden sea trembled, and a voice rolled through the darkness.
“I am the silence that existed before your first breath. I am the hunger your ancestors named a monster. I am the reason your Firstborn brother was imprisoned.”
The Firstborn staggered backward.
“Liar,” he whispered. “You were sealed before creation.”
“By whom?”
The question struck him harder than any weapon.
The Firstborn opened his mouth but produced no answer.
Behind the golden door, something enormous moved. Its shadow stretched across the luminous sea, revealing limbs too numerous to count and a crown that resembled a forest of broken spears.
Ronan’s sword began to bleed.
Red drops slid along the blade and floated upward, transforming into tiny images: a burning kingdom, five cradles, and a sixth cradle wrapped in chains.
Lyra stared at the visions.
“Six,” she whispered. “There were six children.”
Their mother appeared beside the golden door, struggling against her restraints.
“No,” she cried. “Do not let it show you!”
But the images had already changed.
A newborn lay inside the sixth cradle. Unlike his brothers, he possessed no crown, no glowing eyes, and no visible power.
He was ordinary.
Then a shadow descended over him.
The newborn opened his eyes and smiled.
The golden sea turned black.
Ronan stumbled as a memory struck him—not his own, but something ancient buried beneath his blood. He saw their mother carrying the Firstborn toward the cradle, whispering promises she could never keep.
Then he saw the truth.
The Firstborn had not been imprisoned to protect creation from the creature behind the door.
He had been imprisoned because he alone could command it.
“You feared me,” the Firstborn shouted at the golden eye. “You needed my power!”
“I needed your obedience.”
The voice shook the corridor.
“You mistook power for purpose. Your mother mistook sacrifice for salvation. And your Father mistook imprisonment for victory.”
The ancient Father raised his head.
“What do you want?”
The golden eye slowly turned toward him.
“To collect what was stolen.”
The golden door cracked from top to bottom.
Their mother screamed as one chain snapped, then another. She fell to her knees, clutching the final chain around her throat.
Ronan rushed forward, but Lyra caught his arm.
“Wait. Look at the Firstborn.”
The silver-haired man was weeping.
For the first time, he looked not like a king, but like a child who had finally understood his punishment.
“What was stolen?” Ronan asked.
The golden eye narrowed.
“My name.”
The door exploded.
A hand made of living darkness reached through and seized the Firstborn by the throat.
As he was dragged toward the abyss, he screamed one final warning.
“RONAN! NEVER LET IT REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE!”
The darkness swallowed him.
Then the voice whispered directly inside Ronan’s mind.
“My son, tell me your name.”
