Kael fell.

The air trembled around them.

There was no ground beneath him, no sky above, only endless blackness.

Lena’s hand found his.

“Kael!”

“I’m here!”

Azael appeared through the darkness. Elias followed, golden light blazing. The fifth child descended, black wings folding.

Then everything stopped.

Kael looked ahead.

A massive black eye floated in the darkness.

Inside it, the sixth child remained trapped.

Black chains wrapped around him.

“Help me,” he whispered.

Kael stepped forward.

The eye trembled, as though it recognized his blood.

A voice filled the void.

“YOU CAME.”

Kael raised his sword.

“Release him.”

The darkness laughed.

“YOU STILL BELIEVE YOU CAN COMMAND ME?”

Lena moved beside Kael, red energy gathering.

“We have faced worse.”

The darkness answered with silence.

Then the chains around the sixth child tightened.

He screamed.

Kael charged.

His sword struck the first chain.

A shockwave threw him backward.

Azael caught him.

“Your blade cannot cut those chains.”

“Then I’ll find something that can.”

The fifth child approached the floating eye.

“I remember this place.”

Everyone turned.

“This is not a prison.”

He touched his chest.

“It is a memory.”

Elias stared.

“What memory?”

The fifth child closed his eyes.

“The memory of our first division.”

The world changed.

Kael saw himself as a child, standing beside Azael and the others before a gigantic white door.

The sixth child stood behind them.

But something was wrong.

There were six shadows.

One shadow belonged to a creature standing behind the children.

It had no face, crown, or eyes.

Only a mouth filled with countless white teeth.

Kael felt cold.

“That thing...”

The fifth child whispered,

“It was there before the First Shadow.”

Azael remembered.

“I saw it.”

“In my dreams. It was watching us.”

The creature opened its mouth.

The same voice echoed through the darkness.

“I WAS THERE WHEN YOUR FIRST SOUL OPENED ITS EYES.”

The sixth child cried out.

“Don’t listen!”

The creature smiled.

“HE REMEMBERS ME.”

Kael looked at the prisoner.

“Who are you?”

The sixth child lowered his head.

“I don’t know.”

The darkness whispered,

“His name was erased.”

Kael stepped closer.

“Then we will give him one.”

The sixth child looked up.

Hope appeared in his silver eyes.

Kael extended his hand.

“Come with us.”

The chains cracked.

Azael raised his weapon.

Lena summoned red fire.

Elias released golden light.

The fifth child spread his wings.

Their powers joined.

The chains shattered.

The sixth child fell forward.

Kael caught him.

But behind them, the faceless creature screamed.

“YOU HAVE BROKEN THE FIRST SEAL.”

The darkness began collapsing around them.

A gigantic crimson doorway appeared ahead.

Beyond it stood an ancient throne.

And sitting upon it was someone wearing Kael’s face.

The stranger smiled.

“Finally,” he whispered.

“All six have awakened.”

“Who are you?”

The stranger slowly stood.

“I am the one who remembers what you were before you became brothers.”

The throne cracked.

And behind it, something enormous began to rise.
