Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Woman, You’re Not Right

If anyone saw Yan Luoxi’s girlish expression at this moment, they’d probably be shocked speechless!

This is insane!

The legendary, unapproachable ice queen president can actually make such a girlish face?!!

"That bastard... I still haven’t settled the score with you for spraying me in the face last night. Just you wait for tonight!"

Yan Luoxi seethed at the memory, grinding her teeth.

"KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK—KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK—"

Just then, a knock came from outside her office door.

Hearing the sound, Yan Luoxi glanced over her shoulder, her expression instantly reverting to that of the aloof President.

"Come in,"

she said, her face devoid of emotion.

Her tone was placid, yet it carried a chill that warned strangers away. The Director of Finance standing at the door couldn’t help but shiver before pushing the door open and cautiously stepping inside.

"President Yan."

The Director of Finance, Han Mei, spoke with the utmost respect.

"Hm?"

Yan Luoxi was a little puzzled to see Director Han.

"Is there something you need, Director Han?"

she asked coolly.

"President Yan, I have an urgent payment request that requires your signature."

Han Mei placed the file she was holding onto the desk with both hands and explained.

Yan Luoxi picked up the file, glanced at it, and then looked up at Han Mei.

She frowned slightly. "Isn’t President Luo in charge of this payment? Why didn’t you go to her?"

"President Yan, President Luo went out this morning. The manufacturer is demanding payment before they’ll ship the goods, so President Luo told me to find you."

Director Han replied cautiously.

"Hm?"

At her words, Yan Luoxi’s brow furrowed deeper.

’Roy, that little rascal, went out?’

’How come I didn’t know about this?’

Yan Luoxi was thoroughly confused.

Little did she know, Roy was currently taking her mother to go raid her home!

"Fine."

Yan Luoxi looked over the document, and seeing no issues, signed her name.

Seeing this, Director Han couldn’t help but breathe an inward sigh of relief.

’Honestly, our President Yan’s aura is just too intense.’

’While the "Iron Maiden," Vice President Luo, also has a strong presence, she at least feels somewhat human. President Yan, on the other hand, is like an ethereal fairy from Guanghan Palace, completely detached from the mortal world. She’s just too cold!’

’In this entire company, pretty much everyone is more afraid of Yan Luoxi than they are of Roy.’

’It can’t be helped!’

’Her presence is just too powerful, too cold!’

’Then again, it makes sense.’

’If Yan Luoxi’s presence wasn’t so commanding, she couldn’t have taken a ten-billion-dollar company and put it on the path to becoming a hundred-billion-dollar one in just a few years.’

Once Yan Luoxi finished signing, Han Mei accepted the document with both hands and said respectfully, "President Yan, if there’s nothing else, I’ll get back to work."

"Mm."

Yan Luoxi didn’t say anything more, just gave a slight nod.

Seeing this, Han Mei turned, her high heels clicking, and walked out of the president’s office, gently pulling the door closed behind her.

Yan Luoxi watched Han Mei’s timid exit and shook her head slightly.

She averted her gaze, then after a moment’s thought, picked up the phone on her desk. She unlocked it, opened her contacts, and made a call.

...

"RING RING—RING RING—"

The sudden ringing of a cell phone startled Roy and Tang Wanfang, who were in the middle of peeking through a peephole.

That’s right!

The two of them had already found their way to Building 7, Unit 3.

Of course, they didn’t know which specific apartment belonged to Yan Luoxi—or Gu Yizhou, for that matter—so they were furtively going from door to door, trying to peek inside.

Maybe it was because their anxiety was making them careless, or maybe they just didn’t want Yan Luoxi to find out.

After all, with Yan Luoxi’s personality, if she ever found out they were investigating and tailing her, things would not end well...

That’s why neither Roy nor Tang Wanfang even considered asking the property management office or using their "superpower"—money—to find out.

Roy pulled her phone out of her bag, glanced at the screen, and her heart skipped a beat.

"Auntie, it’s Xixi calling."

Hearing Roy’s words, Tang Wanfang, who was standing beside her, was also startled.

"This..."

The phone kept ringing. Roy asked in a panic, "Auntie, what should I do? Should I answer it? She can’t have found out we’re secretly investigating her, can she?"

"Answer it!"

Tang Wanfang shot her a look, then said with a straight face, "We haven’t done anything wrong. We have a clear conscience, so what’s there to be afraid of?"

Uh...

’A clear conscience...’

’Auntie, *you* may have a clear conscience, but mine is guilty as hell!’

’If that little rascal Xixi finds out I went behind her back with her own mother to investigate her, she’ll probably beat my ass raw!’

Roy thought helplessly, her face a picture of misery.

But the phone was still ringing, and since Auntie had said her piece, Roy knew she had no choice but to answer.

Steeling herself, Roy gritted her teeth and answered the call.

"Hello~"

She did her best to sound calm. "Xixi? What’s up?"

’Sure enough!’

’Yan Luoxi, on the other end of the line, hadn’t noticed anything unusual in her voice.’

She said calmly, "It’s nothing important. I was just wondering where you went."

"Huh?"

Roy froze.

’She’s asking where I went... Does... does she really know?’

She instinctively shot a pleading glance at Tang Wanfang.

Tang Wanfang’s heart skipped a beat as well!

’Have we really been found out?’

’That can’t be right. Roy and I were so careful!’

She was confused.

After a moment’s thought, she decided to have Roy probe her daughter.

She whispered to Roy, "Just tell her a client needed to meet and discuss something. Then see how she reacts."

Roy nodded and said into the phone, "Oh, uh, a client called me. I’m out at a meeting."

"Hm?"

On the other end, Yan Luoxi noticed Roy’s delayed reply and her stuttering. Her delicate brows furrowed slightly.

For some reason, her woman’s intuition was telling her that something was off.

Back on Roy’s end, Yan Luoxi’s sudden silence made her heart pound with anxiety.

’I’m totally panicking!’

"Um..."

Roy thought for a moment, then braced herself and said, "Xixi, why did you go quiet? Is there a problem at the office?"

Roy’s words brought Yan Luoxi back to her senses.

She replied calmly, "No."

After a moment, she added, "Well, since you’re in a meeting, we can leave it at that. We’ll talk about anything else when you’re back at the office."

"Huh?"

Roy was taken aback.

’Did I really just get away with that?’

Realizing what was happening, she quickly said, "Oh... right, okay! I’ll head back to the office as soon as I’m done here!"

Hearing the panic in Roy’s voice, Yan Luoxi’s suspicions grew even stronger.

’Something’s very off about you, woman.’

Outwardly, however, her tone remained placid. "Mm, let’s leave it at that for now. I’m busy."

Without waiting for Roy to reply, she hung up the phone.
