Hogwarts: This Dark Lord is Good?
Chapter 484: Miravia: Wade Must Understand What Love Is!
Wade stood on the balcony, looking down at the white clouds below.
No matter how long he looked at such a strange and magnificent sight, he never seemed to tire of it.
So far, the castle had been operating very steadily, with nothing out of place at all.
That alone showed that the magical network he and the Diadem had jointly designed and improved during the final stage was extremely successful.
“Castle structure stable. Oxygen generation system stable. Energy core operating normally. Wind barrier functioning normally…” Lucifer reported a long string of stable readings from the fireplace.
Wade nodded. With an intelligent magical flame like Lucifer around, even if something went wrong with the castle, he would be able to detect it immediately and deal with it before it spread.
“Stay alert. If any Muggle aircraft appear nearby, move the castle out of the way at once,” Wade said.
“Got it! I specifically chose a place with no Muggle flight routes!” Lucifer said cheerfully.
“How do you know there aren’t any flight routes?” Wade asked.
“If planes flew over here often, they’d leave behind their scent. But I can’t smell anything at all right now,” Lucifer said proudly.
“You really do know quite a lot,” Wade said.
“Of course!”
Wade turned and walked back into the room. After sitting down at his desk and thinking for a while, he suddenly pulled over a sheet of parchment and wrote out a long letter.
“Toby, bring me an owl,” Wade called.
Toby Apparated into the room carrying an owl cage. Inside was Tom’s beautiful owl, Dawn.
Tom had casually left it inside Wade’s suitcase because the environment there was much more suitable for an owl than a cage in the dormitory.
But after the holidays began, Tom had forgotten to take it back with him, as usual.
Wade handed the letter to the owl.
“After you deliver this, go find your owner.”
The owl tilted its head and looked at him. After confirming that Wade had no letter for Tom, it flew out through the balcony and disappeared into the clouds.
Wade watched the place where it vanished and murmured, “André should have started by now…”
…
Department of Mysteries.
Miravia was currently in an extremely bad mood, pacing back and forth across the small office without pause or any sign of settling.
Affected by the oppressive aura around her, Nagini sat timidly to one side and did not dare speak at first.
She flipped through the Department of Mysteries books in her hands again before finally saying, “Teacher… we can take our time and think of another way.”
Miravia sighed helplessly and sat down beside Nagini, spinning the beech wand in her hand like a windmill.
“Tell me, why can’t I open that door?”
Nagini hesitated before saying, “Didn’t Mr. Hoffman say that you have to completely understand that power before you can…”
“You actually believe him?” Miravia frowned.
“But… he’s already under your control. He couldn’t lie to you,” Nagini replied.
“That’s true…” Miravia leaned back against the sofa. “Still, if I can’t open that door, then coming to the Department of Mysteries was pointless.”
“Actually… the research behind the other doors is interesting too. Even if we really can’t open that one, the trip still wouldn’t be wasted.” Nagini continued reading the book in her hands.
“But I came specifically for whatever is behind that door. And I still think Hoffman’s explanation has to be wrong. He said he’s never seen anyone open that door since joining the Department, so how does he know the power behind it is… love? Can love even be considered a kind of power?” Miravia said, clearly unconvinced.
“But… I have seen the power of love before,” Nagini suddenly said.
“You really have?” Miravia asked in surprise.
“Yes… Back then, I was still in my snake form, always wrapped around Wade’s wrist. I personally watched him teach Tom how to use the power of love to perform magic…” Nagini recalled.
She had personally witnessed Tom change from a bad child into a good one, and after understanding the magic of love Wade had taught him, his strength had increased rapidly.
There was also Dumbledore.
Nagini often heard Wade say that Dumbledore was so powerful precisely because he had always believed in and used the power of love.
“Then… do you understand what love is?” Miravia asked with a frown.
“I… I don’t understand either,” Nagini said quietly.
She was a Maledictus. Barring some miracle, she would probably never have the right to talk about what love truly meant in this life.
Miravia seemed to realise, a moment too late, that her question had touched on a painful subject for Nagini.
“I’m sorry, Nagini… Wade and I will definitely find a way to cure you completely,” Miravia said apologetically.
“It’s all right, Teacher. I’m already very satisfied that I can return to human form now,” Nagini said with a smile.
Miravia patted her shoulder in comfort and did not press the point.
“Still, speaking of Wade… if what you’re saying is true, then he must understand what love is. Why don’t we ask him?”
“What about this place?” Nagini asked in surprise.
“It’s fine. We can just leave. Don’t tell me you actually intend to work here properly?” Miravia took out a small booklet, glanced at it, then stuffed it back into her pocket. “Still, having the identity of an Unspeakable is quite useful. At least it gives us an official status when we’re moving around outside.”
The work of the Department of Mysteries was classified at the highest level within the Ministry, and almost nobody outside it knew what went on there.
With this identity, no matter where they appeared in the future, no one outside the Department of Mysteries would have the authority to question them.
And as for the people inside the Department of Mysteries…
None of them were capable of questioning the two of them anymore either.
“Teacher, you really are amazing…” Nagini said sincerely.
By now, everyone in the Department of Mysteries knew that the two of them were researchers from the Death Chamber, or at least believed they were.
Yet not a single person realised that they were complete impostors.
Confusing the entire Department of Mysteries, skipping work without anyone noticing, and still collecting a salary as usual was something only Miravia could manage.
Suddenly, a paper aeroplane flew in through the gap beneath the door and landed on the coffee table in front of Miravia.
“Someone sent you a letter,” Nagini said.
