Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard
Chapter 1223: The Plan Begins
The Forgetfulness Charm is not the same as the Stunning Spell, and after Kael brought Abeforth downstairs, he quickly woke up.
But the awakened Abeforth had clearly forgotten what had just happened. He rubbed his forehead, not understanding why he was on the living room floor and why his legs hurt so much, as if someone had dragged him down the stairs.
But how could that be possible? Apart from him, only Arianna, who was no different from an ordinary girl, was in this house. It couldn’t be Arianna who dragged him down, right?
Abeforth shook his head, thinking he had fallen asleep on the sofa and accidentally fell off, hitting the wound he had gotten earlier in the woods.
These past few days, because of the disturbances at night, he hasn’t been sleeping well. It’s not surprising he would suddenly fall asleep on the sofa.
Abeforth stood up and staggered towards his room upstairs, while quietly cursing his irresponsible brother. If Dumbledore were here, he wouldn’t have to work so hard… at least he wouldn’t have to take care of Arianna both day and night.
Thinking of this, Abeforth’s curses grew louder.
During this process, his voice was recorded by a small ear-shaped object in the corner.
Kael sat outside in a secluded spot, holding the other half of the Extendable Ears, hearing his cursing of Dumbledore in entirety.
It’s undeniable that the resentment was really strong; if it weren’t for sharing the same surname limiting Abeforth’s insults, he probably could have cursed even more crudely.
Not until he saw through the window that Abeforth had entered his room and started doing homework with a quill did Kael put away the Extendable Ears.
Luckily he wasn’t planning to go to the attic; otherwise, he would have had to make another trip.
Afterwards, Kael released the Billywig, letting it head towards the southern entrance of the valley, while he went to the barn to wait patiently.
Time passed unknown; the Billywig returned first, hovering up and down around Kael, making a gentle buzzing sound.
“You saw two wizards, didn’t you?” Kael asked.
The Billywig began flying up and down again, seemingly nodding.
Indeed, it was nodding; only its wings were atop its head, making the movement slightly exaggerated.
Without a doubt, the two wizards coming from the south at this time were most likely Grindelwald and Dumbledore.
Kael stood up, ready to inform Dumbledore, but just as he left the barn, he saw Dumbledore standing outside.
“Professor, I was about to find you.” Kael said, “They are almost back; did you get any results?”
While speaking, Kael instinctively glanced towards Dumbledore’s left.
Although Dumbledore appeared alone outside, he sensed that Arianna was also present, right beside him.
Sure enough, the air beside Dumbledore suddenly rippled, Arianna’s face emerging from under the Invisibility Cloak.
Her eyes were red, clearly just having cried.
“Since you have made your decision, that’s good.” Kael then took out a small bottle filled with Magic Potion, stepped forward, and gently plucked a hair from Arianna’s head, placing it inside.
“According to the plan, it’s time for the fake Arianna to make an appearance.”
The potion in the bottle began to churn, gradually changing from a brownish color to a clean sky blue.
“Hmm… the taste shouldn’t be too bad.” Kael muttered quietly.
But just as he was about to drink it, the potion was suddenly snatched away by someone.
“Professor?” Kael looked at Dumbledore in confusion, “Are you having second thoughts?”
“No.” Dumbledore shook his head, “The plan must continue, but the roles need to be swapped; I must stay here, and you will take care of Arianna.”
“I disagree.” Kael frowned.
To deceive the young you and Grindelwald is no easy task; being careless or unrealistic won’t work.
In other words, the person acting as Arianna must genuinely endure a Charm, one that could be fatal to an ordinary person.
With a special Iron Armor Spell, Kael had confidence he could get through without a hitch, but Dumbledore… given his current condition, scarcely could manage to handle a strong Charm.
“I understand your point.” Dumbledore quietly explained, “Arianna is my sister, and this decision is mine, so whatever risks, I should bear them instead of letting you risk for me.”
“But…”
“Also.” Dumbledore interrupted Kael, “The people appearing soon are unknown to you, but I know them well, especially Abeforth; any minor mistake might arouse his suspicion, and you cannot do it perfectly.”
“But the upcoming scene is engraved in my memory like a carving, every detail repeated for decades, so only I can impersonate Arianna without showing any flaws.”
“This…”
Kael fell silent.
Dumbledore was right; the most crucial step wasn’t simply letting ‘Arianna’ die, but deceiving everyone present, and in this aspect, Dumbledore was indeed more suitable than him.
