Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard
Chapter 1217: Get Out of My House
In the abandoned barn, Dumbledore, who had lost part of his memory, and Kael, who decided to stay, reached a preliminary cooperation intention just like that.
They decided to give it a try, to see if they could save Arianna.
“We still have some time now.”
Dumbledore said, “We can discuss how we want to do it.”
“No rush.” Kael pushed the barn door open and walked out.
However, his action startled Dumbledore, “Come back quickly, what are you trying to do?”
As a Wizard who had studied the Time Turner, upon returning to the past, Dumbledore instinctively thought about hiding himself in advance, not contacting anyone outside the target, and minimizing his presence.
That was also why he had been prioritizing protecting the barn just now… this is a great hiding place, Dumbledore did not want any unforeseen changes to disrupt his upcoming plans.
So he equally did not want Kael to be exposed to others.
Dumbledore wanted to pull Kael back, but his body was too weak, and on top of that, he had frequently used Magic just now, and fell back onto the chair the moment he stood up.
“Of course, to get something to eat.”
Kael turned his head and said matter-of-factly, “I’ve been busy all night and I’m already hungry. Even if we’re saving someone, we need to fill our bellies first, right? Come along, Professor, the food here doesn’t taste great, but it can barely suffice.”
“I’ll pass.” Dumbledore shook his head, “I don’t want to be recognized, it might affect the subsequent plans, you go and come back quickly.”
“Recognized?” Kael raised his eyebrow, waved his hand, and conjured a large mirror in front of Dumbledore “Professor, you don’t seriously think anyone can recognize you right now.”
Dumbledore instinctively raised his head.
He saw a face full of fatigue, aged, with hair and beard both gray, even those blue eyes were much dimmer.
“I guarantee, no one can recognize you as Dumbledore.” Kael assuredly said, “Your current appearance differs too much from that spirited youth, even if you tell someone you’re the same person, no one would believe it.”
“Yeah, you’re right.” Dumbledore smiled bitterly and shook his head. He stopped insisting, and with Kael’s support, left the barn together.
The two followed a path to the bar.
Because it was morning, there were not many people here yet, Kael brought Dumbledore to the bar counter, sat at his most familiar spot, and ordered two breakfasts.
So-called breakfast, but it was just two pieces of bread dry enough to drive nails and a cup of pumpkin juice, not even a slice of fried ham.
But the price was very cheap, only one Knut.
Truth be told, Kael hadn’t spent a Knut individually for years, he’d almost forgotten this thing could still be used as an individual currency for consumption.
“Eat as you can, there’s nothing else here, or you could ask for a boiled potato.”
Kael skillfully broke the dry bread, soaked it in the pumpkin juice, and whispered while the owner wasn’t looking, “But I suggest you don’t ask, Brown Senior doesn’t wash the potatoes when boiling, and they’re not even boiled that day, the taste is like biting into a muddy rock.”
“No need, this is fine.” Dumbledore said absent-mindedly.
He didn’t care what he ate, or even if a delicious grilled steak was placed in front of him, he wouldn’t taste anything.
“We should hurry; they’ll be back soon.”
“No rush, there’s still time.” Kael waved his hand, lazily soaking his dry bread, “Actually, I already have an idea in mind, perhaps it might work.”
“You came up with a solution that quickly?” Dumbledore asked in amazement.
“Not a recent thought.” Kael shook his head, “A few days ago, I met Arianna on the attic, that’s when I got the idea.”
Hearing Kael call Arianna by her name, Dumbledore once again became tense, instinctively looked around.
“Don’t be nervous, Professor, they can’t hear us.” Kael said with a smile.
He sensed that anything involving Arianna would make Dumbledore lose his judgment.
“So, you want to save her too?” Realizing no one noticed them, Dumbledore relaxed a lot.
“You could say I had the thought.” Kael explained, “Logic tells me going back with you then was the best choice. But I also thought about, even if you hadn’t lost those memories, you probably wouldn’t leave without doing anything… After all, this guilt has tortured you for a hundred years.”
“Did I appear that obvious?” Dumbledore couldn’t help but ask, “I always thought I could hide my emotions well.”
“I only guessed.” Kael said, “Later, you started liking to knit wool socks; they usually symbolize family affection.”
“Really?” Dumbledore was silent for a while, “But I actually wanted to receive a pair of wool socks for Christmas, unfortunately, no one has ever given me any… people always like to give me books, and most of them I’ve read.”
“Don’t worry, this situation will persist for many more years.” Kael sighed.
Not just Dumbledore, even himself, seventy percent of the Christmas gifts were various books, Kael felt he could open his private library in a few more years.
“So, what’s your plan.” Dumbledore actively steered the conversation back, “How do we save Arianna.”
