Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard
Chapter 1203: Super Rank-Up 2
Chapter 1203 -837: Super Rank-Up 2
“What did you mean when you said they used to be close?” Kai took the opportunity to ask.
“It’s just… before Albus graduated…” Kode mumbled, “You’re not an outsider anymore, it’s okay to tell you some things… so you won’t say something wrong one day…”
He picked up his cup again, but it was already empty.
“Another brandy,” Kai waved to the bartender, “the best one, my treat.”
“Heh, a real friend.” Kode put an arm around Kai’s shoulder, thinking with his half-drunken mind.
“You probably don’t know… ever since Kendra Dumbledore passed away… their relationship has gotten worse and worse…
“My house is right next door to theirs, and I often heard late-night arguments and the sound of things being smashed.”
After spending this time together, Kai knew that Kendra Dumbledore was Aberforth’s mother.
“How did she die?” Kai asked.
“I don’t know…” Kode shook his head, “No one knows, we only heard a loud noise from the Dumbledore’s house…”
“Did the Dumbledore brothers know about this?”
“They didn’t at the time.” Kode shook his head, “Back then, Albus was about to take his N.E.W.T exams, and it wasn’t until the exams ended… that their uncle, Flint, told them.
“The two brothers hurried back for the funeral…”
At this point, Kode suddenly became choked up, and could only take another sip of alcohol to suppress his emotions.
“I don’t know what happened… but after that, the brothers often argued… Aberforth would come here every time, trying to numb himself with alcohol.”
“So you guys egg him on not to sell to him?” Kai asked.
“Sort of,” Kode said, “We don’t want to see him become an alcoholic at such a young age…
“But be careful, if you see the Dumbledore brothers, definitely don’t mention Kendra, and don’t ask about their parents.”
“I know.” Kai nodded and ordered a whole bottle of brandy for Kode, as he seemed to prefer it over the more popular whiskey.
After learning these secrets, Kai didn’t let curiosity lead him to snoop around the Dumbledore’s house; he continued with his previous activities.
However, during the day when he went out, he would find a hidden spot to observe the situation from afar.
He had also seen the young Dumbledore, but unlike when he saw him at school, the current Dumbledore no longer possessed that confident vitality and looked sullen and distraught every day.
It’s worth mentioning that it didn’t take long before Kai witnessed the scene he had been anticipating most… the young Dumbledore finally met Grindelwald.
It was an ordinary noon, and Grindelwald, as usual, was inquiring about something… he’s been like this lately, going around asking about other people’s situations.
Many people in the bar said that Bathilda’s great-nephew must share her interests; otherwise, what normal wizard would be so curious about other people’s history for no reason?
In Bathilda’s face, most were willing to cooperate, as they were just idle anyway and could take it as child’s play.
Of course, there were those who weren’t cooperative, such as Kode, who didn’t like Grindelwald.
The reason was probably that he was a student at Durmstrang, and Kode had no fondness for that school that teaches Dark Magic, so he naturally disliked Grindelwald too and treated him with a cold face.
On this day, Grindelwald, as usual, was wandering in the Valley, and Dumbledore happened to be out for a walk. By fate, they both arrived at that abandoned barn at the same time.
Kai was in a patch of woods not far away, watching everything clearly.
He was a bit excited in his heart, he had waited so many days for this moment, and in a way, he was witnessing history.
As he thought, Dumbledore and Grindelwald hit it off immediately, and in just half a day, their relationship went from strangers to close friends.
From then on, they were often seen walking side by side in the Valley, and Dumbledore’s smile appeared more frequently, quickly restoring his former appearance.
These two equally confident and spirited youths naturally became the center of conversation among the residents of Godric’s Hollow.
Many were genuinely happy about Albus’s change, as they knew that this child was an undeniable genius during his time at Hogwarts and didn’t want to see him remain depressed.
Otherwise, Albus, such a genius, would eventually fade into obscurity, which would be a great pity.
They had tried to comfort Albus, but it didn’t help much. The child always pretended to be indifferent in front of others, but they could see that it was a facade, he still had worries.
Only with the appearance of Grindelwald did things begin to change.
They believed that Grindelwald was the one who pulled Albus out of the mire, and everyone was happy.
The only unhappy one was probably Aberforth, who seemed very annoyed by his brother’s change in attitude, and the two quarreled more frequently.
He used to visit the tavern every two or three days, but recently, he became a regular, and if the owner refused to sell him alcohol, he’d refuse to leave and threatened to go to the Leaky Cauldron.
But the owner didn’t care at all.
The reason was simple; there was only one fireplace in the vicinity that could use the Floo Network, and it was in his bar. If he didn’t allow Aberforth to use it, he would have to walk to Diagon Alley step by step.
