Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying
Chapter 1267: Sense of Fulfillment
“Of course, of course, Vid.”
Professor McGonagall picked up the quill without hesitation and signed the application. When she looked up again, her voice was much softer than usual:
“I’m glad you took the initiative to bring this up. I hope you can do better than last year.”
Vid nodded: “I will, Professor.”
“Also,” Professor McGonagall said with a smile: “If you need assistance from school professors, you can request it anytime… any subject’s professor will do, I’ll help communicate for you.”
Vid thanked her again, picked up the application, and exited Professor McGonagall’s office.
Standing in the hallway, he looked back at the closed office door, recalling Professor McGonagall’s relieved and joyful expression, he couldn’t help but feel a bit emotional.
The professors themselves are already quite busy, and Professor McGonagall, being the head of Gryffindor, as well as Deputy Headmistress, has to deal with many of Dumbledore’s original duties, making her exceptionally busy.
Yet even so, outside of work, she would still squeeze out time to help students who want to learn, even willing to completely sacrifice her own rest time for this.
Without a heartfelt love for teaching and a wholehearted expectation for every student’s growth, it is impossible to reach this level.
It has to be said, although in individual subjects, professors’ choices are always prone to failure, the majority of Hogwarts professors are indeed the best teachers Vid could encounter.
Comparing it to the problems in those muggle boarding schools in the United Kingdom—campus bullying, abuse, strict rigid schedules, adults’ indifference toward students’ wellbeing, etc.—Hogwarts truly appears warm-hearted, and even the frequently troublesome Voldemort doesn’t seem like much.
Vid withdrew his gaze and walked down the hallway. Just around the corner, he saw a group of people crowded there.
Harry was craning his neck, nearly sticking half of his body out;
Ron was tugging him back, on tiptoes, stretching his neck.
Theo and Leian were pacing back and forth anxiously.
Next to them was Padma, leaning against the railing, arms crossed, fingers tapping her arms repeatedly.
Michael, on the other hand, seemed calmer, sitting on the windowsill with a book in his hand.
Then there was Hermione, looking helplessly at Neville who was mumbling to himself, trying to calm him down.
Seeing Vid approach, Harry was the first to rush over, eagerly asking: “What did Professor McGonagall say?”
“Approved.” Vid waved the application form in his hand.
The hallway fell silent for a second.
“Great!” Neville and Harry cheered, almost hugging each other.
“I knew it!” Ron waved his fist, saying to Hermione beside him, “There’s no way Professor McGonagall wouldn’t agree, I guessed it a long time ago!”
Hermione rolled her eyes and didn’t expose how Ron was so nervous earlier that he nearly pinched his own arm blue.
Theo and Leian knocked their fists together.
“Ha, suddenly there’s a bit of pressure!” Theo said in a low voice: “We can’t perform worse than the others!”
Leian nodded solemnly.
If the two of them didn’t perform well, otherwise someone would surely say—Hufflepuff after all, even the slowest at SSC.
Padma was already mentally calculating her recent paper scores.
She pictured in her mind other students from different houses coming to borrow her assignments, and she thought to herself:
[Got to set a condition… at least must master the Gemino Curse. Otherwise, if they lose my papers again, I’ll have to rewrite them… and for those who just copy word for word, don’t think I’ll lend to them again…]
Michael, looking at the excited crowd, smiled, closed his book, and walked over to Vid.
“Smoothly?”
“Naturally, just as you imagined.” Vid said, looking at everyone: “But… it’s a bit surprising that everyone’s so happy.”
“Surprising about what?” Michael asked.
“I thought…” Vid pondered before saying: “Some might feel that the study group activities are a hassle… or rather prefer to maintain the advantage of being in SSC or something…”
Though it sounds selfish, as members of SSC, their achievements indeed made it easier to stand out from other students.
But once the Magic Spell Study Group activities begin, that difference becomes less apparent.
Moreover, just like how Vid, in his past life as a secondary school student, managed to get into the best school and was part of the top class—
Just by casually mentioning their class unconsciously brought a sense of superiority and satisfaction.
SSC is the same, they take pride in where they are.
This is also one of the reasons why SSC continued even when Vid didn’t attend Umbrella House activities for a while.
Removing the mystique equaled reducing that sense of satisfaction.
And now, when Vid thought some might be less willing, they were already enthusiastically discussing when the study group activities should be scheduled.
After all, Vid always seemed to have time, while everyone else’s time had become unprecedentedly tight due to O.W.L.s.
Getting a schedule that works for everyone is not an easy task.
Hearing Vid’s query, Michael couldn’t help but laugh.
“You didn’t know that last semester, other students often asked me—could the Magic Spell Study Group possibly restart?”
“When they couldn’t find you, they all came to bother us.”
Without Vid, there was no Magic Spell Study Group, and naturally, Michael and the others couldn’t give a definite answer.
But facing the disappointed looks from classmates and friends, and accusations of them “hogging it all”, those feelings were truly awful.
Michael spoke matter-of-factly: “When I said ‘no’, ‘not lately’, their looks were as if they’d been abandoned and betrayed.”
Vid remained silent, roughly able to imagine that kind of scene.
Michael’s gaze fell on the others—Harry was demonstrating spell gestures, Neville nodding frequently, Theo interjected, and Padma slapped him lightly.
“And actually… we really like this feeling.”
Michael said: “Being needed, recognized by everyone, teaching others things they can’t learn in class, that sense of fulfillment… it’s just great.”
Vid pondered for a moment, lightly nodded, and said: “I understand.”
“Vid!” Hermione raised her hand and waved, saying: “We’ve chosen a few suitable times for activities, see which works best for you!”
Vid walked over, and just as Hermione was about to speak, a gasping voice suddenly came from below the stairs:
“Vid! Vid!”
Everyone turned their heads to see Rolf running over, face flushed, panting heavily:
“Percy… Percy Weasley… in the name of the Ministry of Magic… issued a bunch of new regulations…”
He leaned on the rail, taking a few breaths, urgently saying:
“Too many… I… I can’t repeat them! You better go take a look!”
