Chapter 1254: Dragon King? Legend!

Then, a subtle crack appeared! Seeing this, the old craftsman recoiled abruptly as if scalded, his face turning ashen, and fine beads of cold sweat forming on his forehead. He looked at Ian with a gaze full of astonishment and reverence, his lips trembling, barely able to form a complete sentence.

“Your… Your Majesty…? I… I apologize! It’s my limited vision, my blindness! I didn’t… didn’t know I was in the presence of a legend… Please forgive my rudeness!”

“Forgive my ignorant words!”

He hastily stood up from behind the workbench, about to perform a grand gesture towards Ian. Ian was slightly taken aback and quickly understood. He gently raised his hand, a gentle force lifting the old craftsman, preventing him from bowing: “Master, no need for excessive courtesy. I’m merely a traveler passing by.”

“Your device… is quite interesting. It can detect the presence of legends?” Ian’s response also acknowledged his identity; he wasn’t one to play dumb or feign weakness.

The old craftsman was held by that irresistible force, utterly unable to bend over, his heart further shaken. Hearing Ian’s question, he quickly answered with respect, his voice still trembling: “Re… Re… Your Majesty, this… this is just a crude magic power component detector… It was originally designed to analyze the active intensity and properties of magic materials, and occasionally it can roughly perceive a wizard’s magic power essence. But, but it actually cannot detect the specific intensity of a legendary presence.”

He held the cracked brass device in both hands, as if cradling a holy artifact: “Its detection limit is far below the legendary domain. Just now, its analysis result regarding you was a chaos and overload, even causing damage to itself. This can only indicate that your presence itself far exceeds the scope of its understanding. Precisely because of this, the mere fact that it ‘cannot detect’ and ‘detects overload’ is actually the best answer.”

The old craftsman’s face was full of fear and shame. Only now did he understand just what kind of great existence he had ‘communicated’ with. That youthful appearance of the other party was clearly maintained by some powerful magic illusion, or perhaps a naturally youthful state due to a high level of existence!

“I see.”

Ian nodded knowingly. So the principle was so straightforward—failure to detect simply signified unfathomable depth. It did indeed make sense.

“A very interesting little device.” Ian remarked, his tone still calm, “Your skill in Magic Runes is indeed exquisite, and I have benefited greatly. Today’s exchange was very enjoyable.”

His attitude still did not carry a sense of superiority.

Seeing this situation.

The old craftsman also immediately had a flash of insight, recalling Ian’s initial inquiry.

“Does His Majesty wish to understand our Magic Text System?”

The old craftsman suddenly remembered Ian’s initial purpose for the conversation — he was curious about their techniques of magic rune inscription and wandless spellcasting, even using the word “exchange.”

Realizing this, his heart was instantly filled with both fear and excitement; a legendary mage was interested in their skills, this was simply a golden opportunity!

He quickly composed himself, speaking to Ian with utmost respect, even with a hint of pleading: “Our Magic Text System is actually an evolution based on the Ancient Magic Rune system.”

“If Your Majesty wishes to delve deeper, no, if you’re willing to condescend to impart knowledge in this regard, I would be extremely willing to present all of my life’s learning to you without reservation!”
