His Wild Omega
Chapter 22: What Did He Say To You?!
Selene watched as Dante approached the man.
"Can I not visit my little brother? Is that a crime?"
Staring at both men, it was not very easy to tell who was older, only because Mavros didn’t seem to be older by many years.
She folded her arms, leaned against the door, and observed them quietly.
"You won’t even give me a thank you for handling the disagreement in the meeting?" Mavros asked.
Dante, hard to rile up, ignored him and went around the desk to settle into his office chair.
Mavros dropped his hand on the desk. He wanted to say something, but then he saw Dante had his twitching gaze now locked on someone. And so following his line of sight, he found the object of his attention to be Selene, who was still leaning against the door.
Not only was she staring right back at Dante, she was also making funny faces at him, as if wanting to provoke him.
Mavros glanced back at his brother. Dante’s left eye was twitching frantically. This woman seemed to really get on his nerves, and quite easily at that which was odd for his kind of person. Yet...
...he wouldn’t look away from her.
"Dante," he said in a whisper. "She’s just your wife, right? You don’t have any sort of feelings for her, do you?"
The question ticked off Dante. He quickly lifted his head and glared daggers at Mavros. "And what is that supposed to mean?"
"Well, I’m thinking that if she really is just a trust deal, as you said, then...you wouldn’t mind if I got close to her, right?"
"What?"
"I mean, look at her." Mavros raised his attention for a second towards Selene, amusement on his face. "She’s incredibly beautiful. I like her eyes especially, they’re so black. And look at her hair... You have to agree she’s very beautiful even if you don’t like her."
"She’s a wild omega," Dante spat, angered for no reason.
"So what?" Mavros chuckled. "I think Wild Omegas are good mates. They are strong, and it’s easy to be around them. I mean, they don’t fall simply because of your pheromones. Alphas reject them, but I think they’re surprisingly my type. Hahaha. Why do you seem so upset?"
He added, "There is nothing between you two, right?"
Dante slowly narrowed his gaze to Selene. Oblivious to their conversation, she was swiping through her cell phone and seeming to be typing something.
"No." He gritted his teeth, jaw twitching. "Do whatever the hell you want."
Mavros straightened up.
"Good. I think I like her."
"Meaning what?" Dante questioned.
But Mavros didn’t answer him. Instead, he approached Selene.
Dante watched them.
His grip on the fountain pen he held kept tightening, eyes rapidly switching from black to gray. The colour of black took over the very second he saw his brother smile at Selene and further leaned towards her shoulder to whisper something into her ear.
The fountain pen he held broke.
What did he say to her?
His eyes switched back to gray.
And before his very own watchful gaze, Selene’s cheek reddened like a tomato, and she suddenly broke into a short laugh, amused by him.
His face grew darker and colder. The temperature in the room fell by many degrees.
What the heck is so funny?
Dante couldn’t understand. Just what could Mavros have said to her to make her laugh that loudly?
"Welcome to the pack, puppy." Chuckling, Mavros tilted his back towards Dante, smirking. "You should calm down, brother. You allowed me."
He left the office.
Selene pushed herself off the wall. "Never knew two siblings could be so different," she commented as she walked over to the desk.
"What did he say to you?" Dante questioned.
She pulled out a chair and sat down opposite him. "None of your business."
"You laughed. I saw you blush! What the fuck did he say to you?"
"And I said it’s none of your business!"
"Tell me. What did he say to you, Selene?" he demanded.
Selene rolled her eyes. "I’m not sure what’s going on with you, but it’s really none of your—"
Dante grabbed her by the bicep and yanked her up to her feet.
"What are you doing?" She stared up at him, confused. "Let go of me!"
But he leaned over the desk into her face, slapping her skin with his angered hot breath. He spat, "Do you not realize you’re my wife? What are you smiling, laughing and blushing at another man for?"
Selene’s brow rose.
She blinked rapidly at him and then let out a short laugh. "Are you crazy?"
He looked crazy. Like a man who’d gone out of his senses.
"Your wife?" She scoffed, "I’m not your wife. This is a contract marriage. You and I know that! What is this behaviour? What’s your business if I smile, laugh or blush at another man? Do you think I belong to you just because we are in a temporary marriage? And for goodness sake, are you forgetting you have a mate? No wonder she’s like a paranoid freak. You have a mate yet behave like this with me!"
Dante never broke eye contact. "You! You don’t..."
He couldn’t form his words. He looked so out of his mind. There was even a twinkle of possession bouncing in his pupils.
It left Selene confused. What in the world was wrong with him?
And as if having snapped back to his senses finally, he let go of her shoulder and left the table to stand in front of his window. He stared down at the city street below, dragging his palm across his face.
What is wrong with me?!
Why had he done what he did just now? What was he being so territorial about? Selene wasn’t his. She didn’t belong to him.
So then why?
"Get out," he said suddenly.
Selene arched a brow at him.
"Do you not hear me?" He kept his back turned against her. "LEAVE. Go and wait for me in the cafeteria. I need to be alone."
But she didn’t. Not yet.
Dante frowned. "What are you stalling for?"
