Chapter 926: Chapter 926 I want my good news

Bella, who was sitting nearby with her cup of coffee, watched the little boy with an amused smile. Her eyes crinkled at the corners as she took a slow sip, the steam curling up around her face.

"Eli, slow down. You’re going to choke."

Eli swallowed quickly, barely chewing, and pointed his spoon at Leo. A drop of milk splattered onto the table.

"See? I’m eating!"

Leo nodded approvingly, his arms still crossed.

"Good boy."

Eli took another bite, his eyes never leaving Leo. Chew..chew..chew...Swallow. Swallow...and Stare.. Stare.

"Now?"

"Not yet."

Eli sighed dramatically. His whole tiny body rose and fell with the force of it and he took another bite, chewing with exaggerated determination. His little feet kicked against the chair, restless energy pouring out of him.

"Now?"

Leo almost laughed. He pressed his lips together to keep it from escaping.

"You’re only three bites in."

"I’m eating very fast!" Eli said seriously, while eating.

Bella covered her smile with her hand, her shoulders shaking slightly. She glanced at Leo, her eyes sparkling with amusement and he shot her a look that clearly said don’t you dare laugh.

She laughed anyway.

"I finished everything, Daddy. Now tell me, where is my happy happy good news?"

The moment Eli finished his breakfast, he hopped down from his chair and hurried toward Leo, completely forgetting about his unwashed little hands. Sticky with milk and cereal, they left faint smudges on Leo’s pants as Eli reached him and immediately wrapped both arms around his legs.

He became impossibly affectionate and cuddly, pressing himself against Leo like a tiny kitten seeking attention. His small body molded against Leo’s leg, warm and clingy, as if he had decided this was his new permanent position.

Then he rubbed his little head against Leo’s leg, nuzzling against him with sweetness before slowly looking up.

His big eyes were wide and innocent, his thick, long lashes fluttering rapidly as he blinked up at Leo.

"Daddy..."

Leo looked down at him.

His heart practically melted.

Just moments ago, Eli had been happily eating his breakfast, shoveling cereal into his mouth like a starving little gremlin. But now he was clinging to Leo’s legs like the world’s most spoiled little puppy, his entire face radiating innocent affection because he wanted his promised good news.

Leo couldn’t stop the smile from appearing on his face.

"What happened to my Big Champ?"

Eli tightened his little arms around his leg, his fingers digging into the fabric.

"I’m your puppy."

Leo raised an eyebrow, amusement flickering in his gray eyes.

"My puppy?"

Eli nodded firmly, his chin bobbing against Leo’s knee.

"Yes."

Then he rubbed his cheek against Leo’s leg again, slow and deliberate, making Leo’s expression soften even further.

Eli looked up at him with those enormous eyes, blinking slowly.

"I want my good news."

Leo chuckled softly, the sound low and warm in his chest.

"So that’s why you’re being so sweet?"

Eli immediately shook his head, his messy hair flopping against his forehead.

"No."

He paused. Then, with complete and utter confidence,

"I’m always sweeeet." ℴℴ𝘮

Leo couldn’t argue with that. Mostly because it was true and partly because those big eyes were making it impossible to say anything else.

"Of course you are."

Eli smiled proudly and hugged his leg even tighter, his cheek squished against Leo’s thigh.

Leo reached down and gently ruffled his hair, his fingers carding through the soft strands.

His little puppy had already figured out exactly how to get whatever he wanted from his father.

He picked up his little baby boy and settled him comfortably in his arms, giving his chubby cheeks a few soft kisses until Eli giggled and squirmed happily.

The sound of his cheerfully bright laughter filled the kitchen and Leo kissed him again just to hear it once more.

Then Leo leaned closer to his ear and whispered, as though he were asking a very important question.

"Tell Dada, do you want younger siblings?"

Eli’s eyes immediately lit up. They went wide and sparkly, like someone had just offered him an entire mountain of candy.

"Like a little brother and sister?"

"Yeah," Leo said with a small smile, his voice gentle. "Tell Dada, you want?"

"Yes, yes! Of course!" Eli answered without even thinking. His little head nodded so fast it was a wonder it didn’t fall off. Then he looked around the room with growing curiosity, his eyes scanning every corner. "Why are you even asking?"

His little eyebrows knitted together, forming that familiar crease between them.

"Dada... where is my sister?"

Leo blinked, caught off guard by the question.

Eli looked toward the hallway, then behind the wall, his little head turning from one side to another. He craned his neck, trying to see past Leo’s shoulder, then twisted to check behind him.

"Did you find my sister?"

Leo couldn’t help smiling. The corners of his mouth tugged upward and warmth spread through his chest.

"What are you looking for?"

"My sister!"

Eli started wiggling in Leo’s arms, becoming more and more impatient. His little legs kicked against Leo’s stomach and his hands pushed at his shoulders, trying to get a better view of the room.

"Where are you hiding her?"

His expression slowly fell when he couldn’t find anyone. His little shoulders drooped and his bottom lip pushed out into a small pout.

"She’s not here..."

Leo’s smile became gentle, his heart squeezing at the sight of that tiny, disappointed face.

Then he gently turned Eli toward Bella.

"She’s here."

Eli looked at Bella in confusion, his little brows pulling together.

"Where?"

Leo pointed gently toward Bella’s stomach.

"She’s in Mummy’s tummy."

Eli’s eyes widened. They grew so big they seemed to take up his entire face.

He looked at Bella’s stomach.

Then at Leo.

Then back at Bella.

Then back at her stomach again. "In there?"

Leo nodded, his voice soft.

"Yes."

Eli’s little face became serious as he stared at her stomach. His brows furrowed in deep concentration, clearly trying to understand how an entire baby could possibly be hiding inside there. He tilted his head to one side, then the other, as if a different angle might reveal the secret.

Then his expression suddenly became a little sad. His lips turned down at the corners and his eyes grew wistful.

"But I can’t see her."
