His Identical Sons Led Him Back to Her

Chapter 84: I’ll Smash Your House

  • Next Chapter

A little over half an hour later, Amanda Vance woke up.

She hadn’t slept long, but perhaps because the old headmaster and his wife were there, she rested soundly. The deep sleep had restored a good deal of her energy.

"You’re awake." Seeing her open her eyes, the headmaster’s wife walked over with a smile. "Are you hungry?"

Amanda Vance rubbed her stomach and nodded. "I am."

"Perfect timing. I just bought some food and brought it up. Oh, right, there’s also the chicken soup Samuel sent over."

As she spoke, she placed the food she had bought on the table and brought over the insulated container from the bedside table. The moment she opened it, a fragrant aroma filled the air, whetting one’s appetite.

The headmaster’s wife touched it. "It’s still hot."

Amanda Vance got out of bed, helped the old headmaster over to the table, and asked with some confusion, "President Ford sent this?"

"Yes. He said you’ve been working hard and sent this to help you recover your strength."

"Oh," Amanda Vance murmured. ’I didn’t expect him to bother with such social niceties.’

There was plenty of chicken soup. Since he knew the old headmaster and his wife were also there, he naturally wouldn’t have sent just enough for Amanda Vance to drink while they watched. The insulated container was large; even after they each had two bowls, there was still some left.

The warm, fragrant chicken soup was incredibly comforting as it went down. The old headmaster couldn’t help but squint his eyes in satisfaction and praise, "This is some excellent cooking."

Amanda Vance nodded. ’The Ford family must have hired the best cooks. Their skills are undeniable.’

With the addition of the chicken soup, even the bland hospital food seemed much more fragrant and delicious. The old headmaster’s appetite returned, and he ate a hearty amount.

After they finished eating, Amanda Vance went to the next room to check on Mr. Ford, who had also just woken up. She went over to ask how he was feeling, and Mr. Ford immediately smiled. "I feel much more comfortable. Dr. Vance, your medical skills are truly excellent."

Amanda Vance smiled. "I’m glad you’re feeling more comfortable. Don’t worry, I’m here. Be patient. After a few more treatments, you’ll be almost fully recovered. After that, it’ll just be a matter of conditioning."

"Good." Mr. Ford beamed, a long-absent look of hope shining in his eyes. He had thought he would spend the rest of his life bedridden, never expecting to be fortunate enough to meet such a miracle doctor.

Mr. Lynch was there too; he hadn’t left at all. While Mr. Ford was still asleep, he would periodically check his pulse, growing more and more impressed by the miraculous power of the Nine Revolutions Needle and amazed by Amanda Vance’s excellence.

’Don’t just look at how well she uses the Nine Revolutions Needle now. She must have put in an immense amount of hard work to learn it. This isn’t something one can master overnight.’

In all his years, this was the first time Mr. Lynch had admired someone so much, even if that person was his junior.

’No, wait. Now, she’s my senior.’

"Master," Mr. Lynch called out. He then took the opportunity to ask her about some points of confusion he had encountered while taking Mr. Ford’s pulse earlier. Amanda Vance explained each one clearly, then asked, "Did I make that clear?"

"Yes, yes! Perfectly clear!" The explanation was crystal clear. Mr. Lynch carefully digested what she had just said, feeling he had gained an even deeper understanding of Chinese medicine.

It was the first time Mrs. Ford had heard him call her that. She was a bit stunned, looking from him to Amanda Vance, unable to calm her turbulent emotions.

’Did I hear that right? What did Lynch just call Megan? Master!’

’Wow. It seems he’s completely won over by her.’

Mrs. Ford’s thoughts churned, but in the end, she couldn’t help but feel overjoyed. ’Anyone who can make Lynch willingly accept them as a master must be no ordinary person. I really don’t have to worry about Ford’s illness anymore.’

Shawn Ford was dumbfounded too. Mr. Lynch was a friend of his father’s, and he had met him a few times. His impression had always been that Mr. Lynch carried the distinct pride of a genius.

’But what was he doing now? Calling Amanda Vance ’Master’ over and over, and even pouring her tea!’

Shawn Ford’s expression twisted. He turned to look at his brother and saw a faint smile in his eyes, his gaze still fixed on Amanda Vance.

’Now he completely suspected his eyes were failing him at such a young age. Otherwise, how could he be seeing something so bizarre?’

Noticing his gaze, Samuel Ford shot him a cool glance. Shawn immediately straightened up, put on a stern face, and dared not make any more strange expressions.

’He just felt a little numb inside.’

’He was used to it. Ever since his big brother met this woman, it wasn’t the first or second time he’d received a cold shoulder.’

’This was just the beginning.’

Oblivious to the commotion behind her, Amanda Vance finished her explanation to Mr. Lynch and went to the outpatient clinic.

As usual, not many people had registered for an appointment with her today. She wasn’t in a hurry. For each patient, she clearly explained the cause of their illness and the subsequent precautions before prescribing medicine.

At first, the patients were skeptical due to her youth. But after listening to her explanations and finding every detail to be accurate, they slowly began to relax.

’She seems reliable. We’ll give it a try and see.’

Amanda Vance felt a bit helpless about this situation, but there was nothing to be done. For acute conditions, people generally chose Western medicine. Those who came for Chinese medicine were usually looking to condition their bodies, which was a lengthy process that didn’t yield immediate results.

She was also young, so it was normal for people not to trust her. All she could do was build her reputation little by little.

When there were no patients, Amanda Vance would read a book. After work, she would pick up her son from school and go home. The days passed quickly.

Amanda Vance’s acupuncture was indeed very effective. Mr. Ford’s condition improved visibly day by day, to the point where he could even get out of bed and walk without assistance.

Samuel Ford’s focus also gradually shifted back to his work. Since Felix Ford wasn’t going to school, Samuel was spared the trip to pick him up and would swing by the hospital after work. However, he often missed seeing Amanda Vance.

"Dr. Vance went to pick up her kid." Huddled in a corner, Shawn Ford was playing a game on his phone. He mentioned it casually when he saw Samuel walk in.

’Kindergarten let out early. Even if he left work at the normal time, it was still too late by comparison. No wonder he kept missing her.’

Mrs. Ford walked over as well. Hearing this, she was inevitably reminded of her own grandson and asked, "Is Colt still refusing to go to school?"

"Mhm."

"Sigh. Is someone at school bullying Colt? Why doesn’t he want to go again?"

"No." ’He just wants his mother.’

Samuel Ford didn’t say this out loud; his brows just furrowed even tighter.

"Oh, right, Miss Lynch will be back soon. Doesn’t Colt like playing with her? Maybe if he’s in a better mood, he’ll be willing to go to school."

Miss Lynch was the family’s nanny. She had been taking care of Colt since he was born. They had a decent relationship, and she was about the only one in the house whose words he would listen to.

Samuel Ford breathed a sigh of relief. He sat for a while before Mrs. Ford urged him to go home and spend more time with his son.

Not wanting to worry them, Samuel Ford agreed and drove toward the Ford residence. The moment he walked in the door and saw the complete mess on the floor, a vein throbbed in his temple, and his face turned cold again.

Taking a long stride, he walked directly toward the child who was still smashing things.

He called out in a deep voice, "Felix Ford."

Hearing his voice, Felix Ford froze for a second. He turned to look at him, a flash of fear in his eyes, but then he straightened his back again. He jumped onto the sofa, but he was still too short. He furrowed his little brow, then tilted his head back, put his hands on his hips, and declared, "If you don’t find my mommy, I’ll smash up your whole house!"

Samuel Ford sneered, plucked him off the sofa with one hand, and headed upstairs.

His legs dangling in the air, Felix Ford started squealing and shouting, "Help! He’s hitting a kid!"

Seven glided over, but Samuel Ford pressed a button on it, and it stopped in its tracks. The eyes on its screen swiveled, watching its little master being carried away by the big master, and it also cried out, "Help! He’s hitting a kid!"

Samuel Ford ignored it, carrying the boy into his room with a dark expression before finally putting him down.

He looked at him coldly. "If you want to smash something, smash up your own room first."
