His Identical Sons Led Him Back to Her

Chapter 66: He Wants Her to Spoil Him

Maybe it was because he didn’t have to go to school and felt relieved, but he seemed to relax completely. Still, he kept shuffling behind her in his little slippers.

After calling his teacher to ask for a day off, Amanda Vance turned around to find him staring at her expectantly. She couldn’t help but smile, her eyes crinkling as she bent down and opened her arms to him.

Felix Ford smiled and walked over to hug her.

Amanda Vance scooped him up, supporting his little bottom, and carried him to the refrigerator with one arm. "What do you want to eat?"

Felix Ford thought for a moment. "Fried dough sticks and soy milk."

"You just had a fever. It’s best if you eat something light."

"But Mommy, I want to eat it." ’He wanted to eat her favorite food, the way she liked to eat it.’

After a restless night, his face was still pale, and his voice was weak. He sounded so fragile that it tugged at Amanda Vance’s heartstrings. She found she couldn’t bring herself to refuse him and sighed in resignation. "Alright, you can have whatever you want."

Felix Ford immediately broke into a smile. He cupped her face and gave her a kiss before limply resting his head on her shoulder.

He breathed in her scent, nuzzling against her with a sense of longing.

’He didn’t actually have to eat that particular food. He just enjoyed the feeling of his mother doting on him unconditionally.’

’Even though he knew, deep down, that she was doting on "Jean Vance," not "Felix Ford."’

He closed his eyes, leaned against her shoulder, and called out, "Mommy."

Sensing his low spirits, Amanda Vance thought for a moment and said, "How about this? We’ll go get breakfast first, and then Mommy will take you to see a nice old couple, okay? They’re like family to me, and they’ve been very good to me."

"Is it the old grandpa you mentioned before? The one who’s sick?"

"Yes. He was the principal at my old school. He helped me a lot."

"Let’s go." Felix Ford agreed immediately upon hearing that. ’If he helped Mom, then he helped me.’

"Is the old grandpa sick? Should we bring him a gift?"

"What do you want to bring?"

Felix Ford thought for a second, then patted her shoulder to signal for her to put him down. Amanda Vance obliged and watched him run into his room, only to come running back out a moment later.

He still didn’t have much energy, and he stumbled as he ran, nearly falling to the floor.

Amanda Vance’s reflexes were quick. She scooped him up and held him in her arms. "What did you get?"

Felix Ford generously showed her what was in his hands, pressing his lips into a smile. "Candy. It’s my favorite. Will the old grandpa like it?"

’Probably not.’

The old principal was long past the age of enjoying candy.

But seeing the hopeful look in his eyes, Amanda Vance couldn’t bear to disappoint the child. She could only nod. "Mhm, he’ll love it."

Felix Ford’s face lit up with a smile. He carefully cupped the candy in his hands. "Then I’m relieved."

With a soft chuckle, Amanda Vance ruffled his hair and carried him out the door.

He sat in the front passenger seat again today. Amanda Vance didn’t say anything about it; she just watched him buckle his seatbelt before starting the car.

They had plenty of time today, so there was no need to rush. She drove slowly.

They went to the same breakfast stall by the high school entrance. School was back in session, so business in the area had picked up. However, high school started early, so they were well past the morning rush, and there weren’t many people at the stall. The two of them found a table and ordered two fried dough sticks and two bowls of soy milk.

Felix Ford didn’t have much of an appetite and could only manage half a fried dough stick before he was full. Amanda Vance finished the rest for him, then led him toward the old principal’s house.

She had already told them she was coming. When they arrived, the principal’s wife was standing at the door. Amanda Vance walked over to support her, speaking softly, "Didn’t I ask you not to come out? You could have just waited inside."

"It’s no trouble. I’m just getting some exercise," the principal’s wife said nonchalantly. As she was about to lead Amanda inside, she saw a little boy run out from beside the car.

He had gotten out on the other side, and being so small, he had been completely hidden from her view. The principal’s wife hadn’t even realized there was someone else in the car.

Glancing between him and Amanda Vance, the principal’s wife asked in surprise, "Is this Jean?"

"Mhm." Amanda Vance reached out and took her son’s little hand. "Jean, say hello to Grandma."

Felix Ford immediately offered up a soft smile and called out in a sweet, childish voice, "Hello, Grandma~"

He was already a handsome boy, with an incredibly cute, chubby face. His voice was sweet and soft, with that unique lilt of a young child. The principal’s wife’s heart melted completely. She bent down and patted his little head. "Aww, hello there, Jean."

This child was just so endearing.

The principal’s wife was beaming. She stood up again and said, "Come on, let’s go inside."

As soon as they were inside, she brought over fruit and snacks and placed them in front of Felix Ford. "Tell Grandma whatever you want to eat. If we don’t have it, Grandma will go buy it."

"Okay." Felix Ford sat obediently on the sofa. "Thank you, Grandma."

"You’re welcome." The principal’s wife couldn’t resist pinching his little cheek. It was indeed as bouncy and firm as Jell-O, and so smooth—even better than she had imagined.

His little face was just a bit pale.

The principal’s wife looked up at Amanda Vance and asked, "Is Jean not feeling well?"

He sounded a bit nasally, too.

Amanda Vance nodded, cupping her mug with a worried expression. "He suddenly came down with a fever last night. It’s gone now, but he still hasn’t fully recovered."

Hearing this, the principal’s wife grew anxious and looked at Felix Ford with pity. "He had a fever? Oh, you poor thing. Are you okay?"

"I’m okay." Felix Ford shook his head, then took her hand and placed it on his own forehead, giving her another soft smile. "The fever’s gone."

Charmed by his action, the principal’s wife patted his little cheek. "Good, I’m glad to hear it. If you’re sleepy, you can go take a nap."

He must be feeling unwell. He probably didn’t sleep well last night either.

Thinking that Amanda, who had been caring for him, must be just as tired, the principal’s wife turned to her and said, "Megan, why don’t you go get some rest first?"

The old principal also told her to get some rest.

"I’m not in a rush." Amanda Vance put down her mug. "Let me check on the principal first."

They couldn’t change her mind, so they had no choice but to let her tend to business first.

The old principal had cancer. Amanda Vance’s most urgent task was to get the cancer cells under control. She took his pulse and got a general sense of his condition. Seeing the principal’s grave expression, she offered a reassuring smile. "Don’t worry, Principal. You’ve been taking your medicine properly these past few days, and things are well under control. Today, I’ll use the Golden Needles to completely suppress the cancer cells. After that, our task will be to eliminate them."

"So quickly?" The old principal was a bit surprised. Including the very first time, this was only his second acupuncture session. ’And it’s already enough to bring it under control?’

"This is not something we can delay."

Every day we wait increases the risk.

That wasn’t the main point. The old principal was simply stunned it was happening so quickly. He stared at her for a moment, then shook his head with an amused smile. ’It seems I’ve really underestimated Megan. This girl is far more capable than I ever imagined.’

"Alright, I’ll follow your lead." He didn’t know anything about medicine, so he would just do as Megan said. "Should I just lie down like last time?"

"Mhm."
