His Identical Sons Led Him Back to Her

Chapter 158: Are You Enemies?

Before long, Mr. Ford was wheeled out. His face was a little pale, but his breathing was already much steadier.

Dr. Olsen sighed with emotion. "Today, I’ve truly witnessed a miracle."

A few needles, and the man was saved.

Of course, he knew it wasn’t *just* about the needles—that was just something to say. But he was genuinely in awe, so much so that he couldn’t help but think about switching to Chinese medicine. Then he considered his age. ’I’m not young anymore. It’d be hard to achieve any real mastery starting from scratch.’ And so, he reluctantly gave up the idea.

’Still, my son is taking his college entrance exams this year. I could ask him about his plans for the future.’

Mrs. Ford and the others had no idea what Dr. Olsen was thinking. They followed Mr. Ford to the ICU and were stopped at the door.

Although the results looked very good and he seemed to be out of danger, he still needed to be observed in the intensive care unit for twenty-four hours as a precaution. This way, if any issues arose, he could receive immediate treatment.

Mrs. Ford naturally had no objection; in fact, she felt certain there wouldn’t be any problems.

Leaving her younger son to keep watch, she turned and went to the patient room. Inside, Amanda Vance was lying on the other bed. When Mrs. Ford went over, her older son was sitting by the bedside, watching Amanda without blinking.

Raising an eyebrow slightly, Mrs. Ford thought, ’If this isn’t being smitten, then what is?’

’The only problem is, Megan doesn’t feel the same way. *Sigh*. They have a long road ahead of them.’

Hearing the sound, Samuel Ford glanced over.

Mrs. Ford nodded, walked over quietly, and asked in a low voice, "Is Megan alright?"

Samuel Ford’s voice was just as soft. "She’s fine, just exhausted."

Mrs. Ford understood. She had seen her like this before. It may have only been a little over an hour, but it was incredibly draining.

Looking at the woman on the bed, she felt a mix of gratitude and heartache. Unable to sit still, she stood up and said, "I’m going to go buy some chicken soup. It’ll be perfect for Megan to drink when she wakes up. She needs to replenish her strength."

"Don’t worry about it." Samuel Ford stopped her. Seeing her disapproving look, he explained, "You stay here. I’ll go."

Fine.

Mrs. Ford listed a few places. "Buy it from one of these spots. They make the best soup."

Samuel Ford nodded, left the room, but went to a fresh food market instead.

Dressed in a suit, with his cold and handsome features, he looked rather out of place. Many people stared at him, sizing him up with curiosity.

Samuel Ford walked calmly to a stall. "How much for this one?"

The stall owner eyed him curiously for a moment. "Eighty yuan per kilo. This is a proper free-range chicken, raised by yours truly. No weird additives, totally healthy. It makes the most nourishing soup. You want one, young man?"

Samuel Ford nodded. "I’ll take it."

After having the stall owner clean and prepare the hen, Samuel Ford carried the bag to the nearest Ford Group restaurant to borrow their kitchen.

The head chef was stunned by his presence, stammering, "President Ford, you... you’re going to cook it yourself?"

"Mhm." Samuel Ford had already tied on an apron. "Don’t mind me. Go about your own business. Just pretend I’m not here."

It wasn’t a peak mealtime, so the restaurant wasn’t busy. Him using one stove wouldn’t disrupt anything.

Of course, even if it were the dinner rush, they would have cleared a stove for him without a second thought.

The big boss wasn’t exactly worried about losing a little business, after all.

’But can he actually cook?’

All sorts of doubts ran through the head chef’s mind, but he didn’t dare voice them. Watching Samuel chop the vegetables with clean, efficient strokes, looking nothing like a novice, he finally relaxed.

After bringing the soup to a boil, he turned it down to a low simmer, and a rich aroma gradually began to waft out.

The head chef was experienced enough to know from a single sniff that the soup would taste great. This made him even more astonished. ’President Ford is such a powerful man. Does he really need to cook for himself?’

’I can’t believe his cooking skills are this good.’

Of course, he kept all these thoughts to himself.

Once the chicken soup was ready, Samuel Ford poured it into a thermos and brought it back to the hospital.

This time, Amanda Vance woke up after only a short while. It wasn’t because the procedure had been easier or less tiring; it was because she was still worried about Mr. Ford’s condition. She couldn’t rest easy, so her subconscious had kept her from falling into a deep sleep.

Fortunately, although her sleep was brief, it was also deep and undisturbed. No one had bothered her, and she hadn’t dreamed. Waking up, she felt half her energy had returned.

She was still tired, but not to the point of fainting again.

’Oh, right. It seems Samuel Ford caught me this time, too.’

’I remember smelling his scent right as I passed out.’

A fragrant aroma reached her nose. Amanda Vance’s eyelids fluttered, and she slowly opened them. The first thing she saw was Samuel Ford, head bowed as he poured chicken soup. The steam swirled up, softening the space between his brows and lending him a more down-to-earth air.

She hadn’t expected to wake up to such a handsome sight and froze for a moment. Only when he looked up at her did she blink hard and quickly look away, feeling oddly flustered.

Samuel Ford saw her expression, and a hint of a smile flashed in his eyes. The next second, he masked his features and feigned surprise. "You’re awake."

"Mhm." Amanda Vance pushed herself into a sitting position. She glanced at him and, guessing he hadn’t seen her embarrassing gawking just now, breathed a sigh of relief. Her gaze shifted to what he was holding. "What’s that?"

"Chicken soup." Samuel Ford handed her the bowl. "Drink up. You need to recover your strength."

It also contained goji berries, which were great for restoring one’s energy.

She hadn’t realized it before, but now that the fragrant aroma was tickling her nose, Amanda Vance felt genuinely hungry. Without protesting, she accepted the bowl and began to drink.

After just one sip, she said, "Huh? This tastes just like the soup I had at my teacher’s place last time. President Ford brought that one too. Did you buy them from the same place?"

Samuel Ford simply said, "Mhm," without explaining further.

Amanda Vance lowered her head to drink her soup, not noticing anything unusual.

’I have to admit, this place’s soup is really delicious. So fresh and savory.’

’I’m not usually a big fan of soup, but this is incredible.’

She quickly finished the bowl and asked, "President Ford, where did you buy this? Could you send me the address? I’d like to buy it myself when I want some in the future."

Samuel Ford took the bowl, poured her another one, and replied, "The place is remote and hard to find. If you want some, Dr. Vance, just let me know. I can pick it up for you."

"That would be too much trouble, President Ford."

"It’s no trouble. It’s on my way, anyway."

’Didn’t he just say the place was remote? How could it be on his way?’

Amanda Vance grumbled inwardly but didn’t dwell on it and continued to drink.

After two bowls, she was full. No matter how delicious it was, she couldn’t manage another drop.

Handing the bowl back to him, Amanda Vance remembered something else. "By the way, President Ford, your father’s episode was triggered by some sort of shock. Do you know who might have upset him?"

Samuel Ford nodded and said a name. Surprise flashed across Amanda Vance’s face. "It was him?"

’I always knew he was no good, but I never thought he’d do something like this.’

She furrowed her brows in confusion. "Are you enemies?"
