His Genius Wife is a Superstar

Chapter 1674: No Refund, No Exchange

Chapter 1674: No Refund, No Exchange

Lu Zihao took his sweet time heading downstairs to the kitchen. His steps were leisurely, as if he hadn’t heard the old man threaten to spank him like a naughty little boy.

He could already smell the delicious aroma of food in the air. Ever since getting together with Long Jinjing, she had learned to cater to his tastes—from the food he ate to how he liked her in bed—everything.

Without realizing it, his eyes had already softened.

Just by smell alone, he knew that she must have cooked several dishes. He had already told her several times not to tire herself out. They had a home cook who would prepare their meals when both of them were busy. However, Long Jinjing insisted that she loved cooking for their family whenever she could, so he let her be.

Ever since she started going into therapy after giving birth, he had become more careful with her. He might not understand where her insecurities came from, but she was now his rightful wife and the mother of his children. He had to protect her, not only from immediate physical dangers but from her own mental demons as well.

He, Nikolai Vetrov, was a master of playing with emotions, but even he had no idea how to help his woman deal with her emotional issues.

Fortunately, she had a good support system, which consisted mainly of her group of friends. Without them, his wife might not have started her recovery process so quickly.

His stomach rumbled as he got closer to the kitchen.

"Dada! Dada!" Little Misha squealed and flapped his chubby little arms while reaching for him from his mother’s arms.

"You’re back." Long Jinjing turned around from the stove and smiled at him.

Despite being a petite woman, she carried their big, fat baby with one arm on her hip while cooking at the same time without breaking a sweat.

’Ah, I’m home.’ Zihao took his heavy baby from his wife. Before he could kiss his wife, a toddler appeared and hugged one of his legs.

"Anko!" (Uncle!)

Another came, hugging his other leg.

"Hm." He reached down his free hand and rubbed the heads of his two nephews.

Little Mochi looked up at him and grinned.

Little Matcha also looked up at him, but his expression was more subdued.

"Kyah!" Little Misha squealed as he tried reaching for her elder cousins as well. He wanted to play with Brother Mochi and Brother Matcha again. So fun!

"Mikhail, stop it," Lu Zihao reprimanded his rowdy son, who was flailing like an itchy worm in his arm. "Do you want to fall down?"

No matter how much he glared, would his son listen to him?

Not today!

"Kyah, kyah!" Little Misha flailed even more.

If not for Lu Zihao’s firm embrace, his son would have already fallen down. He scowled at his misbehaving son. "Mikhail!"

Before Long Jinjing could intervene, a voice boomed from the other room.

"How dare you shout at this old man’s precious great-grandbaby, you pinheaded boy?!"

"Grandpa Lu." Long Jinjing hurriedly set down the ladle she was holding on the counter. She wanted to stop the old man, but it was too late.

The sprightly old man had already marched to where his grandson was standing and hit him several times on the shoulders.

Long Jinjing grimaced at the loud, thumping sounds. She felt sorry for her husband, but couldn’t stop the old man either. She could only reassure herself that her husband had a tough and strong body that could endure a beating.

"Hmph! How could you, this dunderhead, bear to scold such a cute baby? And it’s your own baby! This old man will spank you!"

Lu Zihao sighed. The hits didn’t hurt much. They even felt a bit ticklish. Well, if other people took the hits, they would probably nurse painful bruises for days, but these were nothing to him.

"Old man, am I not allowed to discipline my own children?"

"Who are you calling an old man, you muttonhead?! Call me Grandpa Lu!"

"Grandpa," Lu Zihao muttered, sighing again.

"Da!" His other baby, Little Dima, also reached for him from Grandpa Lu.

Lu Zihao didn’t care about the angry old man glaring at him. He still took his son from him. Now he was carrying both his children with his two nephews hugging each of his legs.

"Hmph!" Thankfully, Grandpa Lu didn’t insist on carrying Little Dima.

The four cousins weren’t scared of their Great-Grandpa Lu at all. They had already seen similar scenes countless times before. Sometimes, their Great-Grandpa Lu would be angry and hit their Uncle/Daddy Lu Zihao, and sometimes, it was their Uncle/Daddy Jin Liwei. It must be because their uncle/daddy was too naughty.

"Are you hungry?" Long Jinjing asked her husband, hoping to dispel the strained atmosphere between the grandfather and grandson duo.

"Hm." Lu Zihao didn’t mind the old man’s presence. He walked to his wife and kissed her on the lips.

Long Jinjing’s cheeks turned red. She avoided looking at her grandfather-in-law. She also pulled the hem of her husband’s shirt, tugging it, silently blaming him for embarrassing her in front of her in-laws.

A devilish glint shone in his eyes. He was about to tease his wife, but a chubby hand slapped his cheek. Although it didn’t hurt one bit, his pride as a father took a critical hit. He scowled.

"Mikhail!"

The naughty Little Misha shrank. His eyes immediately watered. "Dada...."

Even his twin brother, Little Dima, also got scared by their daddy’s tone. His little lips trembled.

The twin toddlers clinging to his legs, Little Mochi and Little Matcha, were also startled. They did better than their baby cousins, though. At least, they didn’t cry. They just buried their faces on their uncle’s leg, thinking that if they couldn’t see their angry uncle, then he couldn’t see them either.

Grandpa Lu once again was about to burst in anger. How dare his pinheaded grandson frighten his precious great-grandbabies?

Before he could reprimand Lu Zihao, Long Jinjing stepped in.

"Alright, alright. Your son didn’t do it on purpose," she said to her husband before taking their naughty baby from him. "Misha, sweetheart, you can’t hit your daddy, okay? That’s not what a good baby does."

Little Misha hugged his mommy’s neck, burying his chubby little face against her shoulder. Daddy was too scary. Wah!

Little Dima looked at his twin brother hugging their mommy in envy. He also wanted to hug their mommy. He took a peek at his daddy. Scary! His lips trembled even more.

"Auntie Jingjing, Junjun is back for lunch," a child’s voice called, interrupting the tense atmosphere.

"Junjun!"

"Jun, jun!"

Little Mochi and Little Matcha were the first ones to react. They immediately abandoned their Uncle Zihao and unsteadily ran to their favourite eldest cousin.

Little Jun caught his two younger cousins and hugged them. The twins didn’t mind that he stank of sweat. "Careful, Little Mochi and Little Matcha. Don’t run too fast!"

"Oh, Little Junjun boy is here! Come and give Great-Grandpa Lu a big hug," the old man’s voice boomed.

The boy’s eyes sparkled upon seeing the old man. "Great-Grandpa Lu!"

He was careful to extricate himself from his cousins before running to the old man.

"Bahahahaha! Oof, my little boy has gotten heavier, eh?" Grandpa Lu caught Little Jun and carried him in his arms. "Training again with your master?"

"Yes! Junjun wants to be a strong hero like Uncle Haohao!"

Grandpa Lu snorted. "Why be like him? Your Uncle Haohao is a pinhead! Hmph! It’s much better to be like this old man. Your Great-Grandpa Lu is also very strong!"

Little Jun’s eyebrows furrowed as he thought deeply and hard about it. Then he shook his head. "No, Great-Grandpa Lu. Junjun still wants to be like Uncle Haohao."

The old man snorted but didn’t say anything to contradict the little boy. After all, it wasn’t good to pour cold water on a child’s hopes and dreams. Besides, the poor boy had just survived a traumatic incident. Everyone needed to be careful in treating him, so as not to trigger the trauma.

Despite this, Grandpa Lu still shot a glare at his pinheaded grandson.

Why?

He just felt like it! Hmph!

Lu Zihao could guess what the old man was thinking based on his colourful expressions. He couldn’t help but sigh again.

"Little Jun, just in time for lunch," Long Jinjing said with a smile while pouring a glass of water. "Come here and drink water. We’ll just wait for your Grandma Yuyan to come, and then we can eat together."

"Oh, Yuyan’s coming?" Grandpa Lu asked as he put down Little Jun so the child could drink some water.

"Yes, Grandpa. I invited Auntie Yuyan to come for lunch. I figured that since Xiulan and Third Brother Liwei are gone and their kids are with Zihao and me, Auntie Yuyan must be feeling lonely. She must be missing her grandchildren very much."

Grandpa Lu nodded while beaming at her. "Good job, Jinjing, my girl! My knuckleheaded grandson is so lucky to have you as a wife! If he dares bully you, tell Grandpa Lu, and I’ll make sure to teach him a lesson! Hmph!"

Long Jinjing chuckled before glancing at her husband. "Okay, Grandpa Lu. Thank you."

Then the old man added, "But you’re already married. Your Grandpa Lu has a family policy of no refund, no exchange. So you can’t return your husband to me even if you don’t want him anymore. Of course, this old man will do my best to help you ’repair’ him if he’s defective! Bahahaha!"

Lu Zihao fought the urge to roll his eyes. Then he caught his wife laughing at him. His mouth curved up in a devilish smirk. "Hm, is that funny?"
