His Discarded Luna, the Rival's Obsession
Chapter 283 On His Knees
Chapter 283: Chapter 283 On His Knees
Mrs. Jones let out a sharp scoff and stepped into the doorway, blocking his path.
"Where Ms. Crawford goes is none of your business, honey. You signed the divorce papers yourself. The moment that marriage ended, so did your right to demand explanations from her."
She pointed toward the street.
"You’re sick? Then go to a clinic and get treated. Standing here looking like a wounded coyote isn’t going to fix anything."
Then she turned toward the house and called, "Ms. Crawford, we’re not finished packing yet. The movers will be here at eight tomorrow morning. Come inside for a while. You don’t need to stand out here."
Eira gave her a small smile. "Sounds perfect."
"Eira, wait. Please."
Alpha Sebastian pushed against the guards before they could stop him.
One of the dogs lunged at the fence, snapping at his ankle through the opening. He stumbled back, but his eyes never left Eira.
Mrs. Jones shook her head. "You should’ve thought about all this before, sweetheart. A man eventually has to live with the choices he makes."
Eira turned toward the front door.
The moment she stepped across the threshold, something struck the gravel behind her.
She turned slowly.
Alpha Sebastian was on his knees in the driveway.
The guards pulled him away from the gate and secured the dogs, though the animals remained tense, their low growls vibrating through the cold night.
Mrs. Jones’s stomach dropped. A man like Alpha Sebastian did not kneel unless he was desperate, and desperate men were dangerous in their own way.
She pulled out her phone and called Alpha Killian.
He answered on the second ring.
"What happened?"
"The Hale man is on his knees in front of Ms. Crawford, begging her not to leave. I know how this story goes. The man treats the woman like garbage, loses her, and suddenly he wants a second chance."
"Alpha, forget the office. You need to get back here."
She ended the call and hurried back to Eira’s side.
Eira had taken one step toward Alpha Sebastian.
Mrs. Jones caught her arm. "I know he looks pathetic, but that’s the road he chose. You already paid for four years of loving the wrong man. Don’t pay again because he finally regrets wasting you."
Eira looked down at her hand and gently patted it.
"It’s all right."
Mrs. Jones released her, but the worry stayed in her eyes.
Eira did not move closer. She stopped several feet away, keeping the gate between them.
Alpha Sebastian stared up at her. His eyes were red, and his face looked hollow beneath the porch light.
"Eira, I know what I did to you," he said. "I know I’m living with the consequences. The hearing, my mother’s surgery, the diagnosis, all of it. I can accept it."
His voice cracked."But I can’t accept never seeing you again."
Eira studied him, her expression more puzzled than moved.
"Since when did you care that much about me?"
Alpha Sebastian flinched.
"Do you miss me," she asked, "or do you just hate the idea that I’ve stopped caring about you?"
"I’m not asking you to forgive me." He gripped the gravel with both hands. "I’m asking you not to disappear. Please. I need to know you’re still somewhere I can reach."
Before Eira could answer, an engine roared at the end of the lane.
A black sedan came around the corner too fast. Its tires squealed against the asphalt, and the sharp smell of burnt rubber cut through the cold air.
The driver’s door flew open before the car had fully stopped.
Alpha Killian stepped out, his jaw tight and his breathing slightly uneven. His silver eyes swept over Alpha Sebastian kneeling in the gravel, then locked on Eira.
Mrs. Jones brightened with relief.
"Alpha!" she called.
Before Eira could answer, Alpha Killian closed his hand around hers.
Without sparing Alpha Sebastian another glance, he turned and led Eira toward the house.
Alpha Sebastian pushed himself up, but the guards stepped in front of him.
"Eira!"
Alpha Killian pulled her through the front door.
It slammed shut behind them.
Only then did the chauffeur climb out of the passenger seat. He looked pale and slightly green.
Mrs. Jones glanced at him. "Why was Alpha driving?"
"He got the call and didn’t want to wait." The chauffeur swallowed. "You should’ve seen him take those corners. I nearly lost my dinner."
He looked toward the closed door.
"Though he was pretty patient when he taught Ms. Crawford."
Mrs. Jones gave him a knowing look. "That’s because she’s the one thing he never loses sight of."
"Fair point."
The two of them started discussing the next day’s move, leaving Alpha Sebastian kneeling on the cold gravel.
Mrs. Jones glanced back at him.
"You can stay there all night if you want, sweetheart. But don’t mistake a little public groveling for power. Ms. Crawford isn’t going to forgive you just because you made a scene."
Alpha Sebastian barely heard her. His eyes remained fixed on the house.
"What is Alpha Killian going to do to Eira?"
Mrs. Jones snorted. "Probably treat her with respect. You should take notes."
Alpha Sebastian looked at her.
"Actually, forget it," she added. "That kind of decency has to come from somewhere inside you."
She turned back to the chauffeur, and their conversation shifted to packing schedules, moving trucks, and the dinner Mrs. Jones planned to prepare at Ashford Lane.
Alpha Sebastian heard only one thing.
"Ashford Lane."
The name hit him harder than the cold.
He knew the neighborhood.
Ashford Lane wasn’t an ordinary gated community. It was a private enclave where executives, government contractors, and high-profile professionals lived behind layers of security.
Every vehicle was registered, every guest was verified, and access was tightly controlled. Money alone couldn’t get someone through the gate.
He had rented Number Eleven just to stay close to Eira. He had convinced himself that being nearby meant he still had a chance.
Now she was moving into a place he could not enter.
