His Discarded Luna, the Rival's Obsession
Chapter 259 A Fight
Chapter 259: Chapter 259 A Fight
Before Isabella could finish, the door at the end of the corridor opened.
Ethan came through with one arm around Alpha Sebastian’s waist, helping him walk. Alpha Sebastian looked nothing like the powerful Alpha who once ruled Hale Group from the top floor of a glass tower.
His skin was gray, and a hospital bracelet circled his wrist.
Both men stopped when they saw Vincent.
Ethan recovered first. "Well, Vincent Crawford. I didn’t expect to find you haunting a hospital hallway."
Alpha Sebastian’s eyes narrowed. Recognition slowly returned to his exhausted face.
"Serena hired you," he said. "You’re her attorney."
Vincent’s jaw tightened. Isabella had demanded money, Alpha Sebastian was talking about lawyers, and none of it made sense.
"I’m here because Serena lost the baby," he said. "She still cares about you. She won’t press charges, so don’t turn her into the villain."
Alpha Sebastian’s brow furrowed. "The miscarriage was an accident. I’m sorry about the child. I’ll pay for her medical care and any damages."
"Pay?" Vincent’s hands curled into fists. He could still see Serena’s swollen eyes and feel her shaking against his chest.
"She lost a child because of you. You don’t get to put a price on that."
Guilt crossed Alpha Sebastian’s face.
"If Serena will have me, I’ll marry her," he said. "I’ll take responsibility."
"Absolutely not."Isabella stepped in front of him. "Sebastian, stop throwing yourself under the bus. Mom is still in the hospital because of this disaster. Do you want to finish what’s left of her?"
Then she turned on Vincent."And how do you even know the baby was yours? For all we know, it could have been his."
Vincent’s face went white with fury.
"You disgusting little..."
"Isabella," Alpha Sebastian warned, but his voice was too weak to carry.
"Don’t tell me to calm down." Her eyes flashed. "Your precious Serena had an affair with a married Alpha, got pregnant, and now everyone wants to treat her like some innocent victim."
Alpha Sebastian leaned against the wall, breathing hard.
Ethan stepped between them before the argument could turn physical."That’s enough. This is a hospital, not a bar."
His voice was calm, but his stare was not.
"I understand that you’re here for Serena," Ethan continued. "Fine. I’m here for Sebastian. He lost his company, his reputation, and almost everything else because of her."
Vincent gave him a cold look. "You defend your friends like a guard dog."
"That’s what friends are for."
"He owes Serena," Vincent said. "She lost a child."
"She lost a pregnancy," Isabella shot back. "Do you know what my brother lost? More than a hundred million dollars, his career, and his entire future."
Vincent went still.
"A hundred million dollars?"
Alpha Sebastian clearly had no intention of discussing his financial affairs in a hospital hallway. He straightened, though his knees nearly gave out beneath him.
"I have more tests to get through," he said. "You need to leave."
His eyes hardened. "As for the baby, I’ll take care of Serena for the rest of her life. That’s my word."
"With what?" Vincent asked.
His gaze dropped to Alpha Sebastian’s trembling hands, the IV tape on his arm, and the hospital bracelet around his wrist.
"You can barely stand. You’ve lost your company, your money, and most of your support. What exactly are you planning to give her?"
Isabella rolled her eyes."Then you take care of her."
Vincent turned on her. The look in his eyes could have frozen the Hudson in midsummer.
Isabella immediately stepped behind Alpha Sebastian.
Ethan let out a tired breath. "Enough. Vincent, go home."
"I came here because Serena is lying in that room."
"Then help her by using your head." Ethan’s voice stayed calm, but his patience was wearing thin. "Stop picking fights and start thinking about next week’s hearing. If you care about Serena, figure out how to keep her from being forced to repay every dollar she took."
Vincent frowned. "Repay what?"
"The money."
"What money?"
Ethan looked at him for a long moment. "You really don’t know?"
Vincent’s jaw tightened. "Know what?"
"The repayment hearing is next week. The court will decide how much Serena has to return and whether the damages can be enforced immediately."
Ethan glanced at Alpha Sebastian.
"Some debts come due eventually. It doesn’t matter how powerful you are or how much money you once had. Nobody walks away clean."
"Sebastian is suing her?" Vincent asked.
"No." Isabella folded her arms. "Eira is."
The name landed harder than the dollar amount.
Vincent had come to the hospital ready to tear Alpha Sebastian apart.
In his mind, Alpha Sebastian was a coward who had showered Serena with money, only to turn around and try to claw every cent back.
But Ethan’s words stirred memories he had never bothered to put together.
The esearch funding.
The Hale accounts.
The lawsuit.
The hearing.
His anger faltered as the pieces began to fall into place.
He finally understood what they were talking about.
And exactly who had filed the claim.
His expression changed.
And exactly who had filed it.
His expression changed.
