Chapter 2275: Chapter 659: One Year Later (36) The Biggest Assist: Those Two
Zifeng had been playing with his toys until his eyes went a little blank. Hearing his older sister say goodbye to his younger brother, he lifted his head to look at them and asked in a daze, "Why aren’t you living here anymore?"
"We haven’t lived here for a long time. Now we only stay with Mom and Dad."
Huanhuan said.
Chengcheng was in charge of nodding.
Zifeng didn’t really understand and, feeling a bit hurt and confused, turned to look at his parents. Mu Qingxin let out a helpless sigh, nodded at her son, then turned to look at Mu Yichen. "Bro, does it really have to be like this?"
"Let’s go!"
Mu Yichen was at a loss for words. He only met her gaze, lifted his hand slightly, and the two children immediately rushed out.
There was no need to tell them that Qin Mu was waiting outside; it was as if they just knew, and as soon as they bolted out, they ran straight for the car.
Qin Mu got out of the car to help them open the door, and was caught red-handed by Feng Fanghua, who immediately threw what she was holding and got up to leave with a cold face.
"Mom!"
Mu Qingxin saw the gift she had carefully picked out being thrown away by Feng Fanghua and was instantly heartbroken, but Feng Fanghua clearly had no intention of staying.
"Just let it go already. Your mom’s not feeling good either."
Mu Zihao quietly reminded his daughter.
"That still doesn’t make it right. She’s always complaining that I don’t buy her gifts. I buy them and she doesn’t cherish them. Is Qin Mu really that important? More important than her own daughter?"
Mu Qingxin couldn’t help getting angry. She plopped back down on the sofa, pouting unhappily.
"How could Qin Mu be more important than you? Don’t overthink it."
Jiang Yan said to her in a low voice.
"She says I’m more important, but have you ever seen her worry herself sick over me like this? Now she spends all day racking her brains over Qin Mu. Hmph!"
Mu Qingxin grumbled, unconvinced.
"If you’re jealous even about this, I’ll have a good talk with your mom, tell her how you disappeared for years the moment you left, and let her sit you down for a nice long chat, how about that?"
Mu Zihao chuckled and quietly warned his daughter.
Mu Qingxin instantly shut her mouth and didn’t dare compare herself to Qin Mu anymore.
But she really couldn’t deny that her mother did care a lot about Qin Mu. Even though her mother always wanted to be at odds with Qin Mu now, she knew in her heart that it wasn’t that her mother didn’t understand or value Qin Mu. She just didn’t want to see Qin Mu and Mu Yichen so entangled yet never living a truly stable life.
On the way back, Chengcheng said, "Auntie bought us new clothes today."
"Mm, I know."
Qin Mu, sitting in the front, responded.
"Mom, how do you know? So you really were with Auntie during the day!"
Huanhuan thought of what her aunt had said earlier, that she had been with Qin Mu the whole time.
"Yeah, we had lunch together, then strolled around for a bit, and I ended up carrying all her big bags and small bags for her."
Qin Mu spoke in a mock-complaining tone and even let out a helpless sigh.
"Mom, are you tired? When we get home, I’ll give you a massage!"
Chengcheng immediately got up from his seat and leaned to Qin Mu’s ear to ask.
"Tired, yeah. But since when does my son know how to give massages?"
Qin Mu was genuinely surprised and pleasantly delighted.
"Of course!"
Chengcheng lifted his chin and declared proudly.
Qin Mu reached back to touch his cheek. "Sit properly now, we’ll talk about it when we get home."
"Okay!"
Chengcheng obediently sat back down, waiting to get home so he could show off his skills to his mom.
Mu Yichen didn’t say anything the whole time, and the atmosphere in the car was, for once, this pleasant.
Qin Mu thought it over carefully and realized that as long as it wasn’t just the two of them alone, things were actually pretty good.
The kids really could soften her heart when she wasn’t feeling so great. Qin Mu couldn’t help but curve her lips into a smile, then looked out the window as the streetlights ahead gradually all lit up, forming a different kind of beautiful scenery, dazzling and magnificent.
By the time they got back to the apartment, it was fully dark. Huanhuan was still humming a song, skipping happily ahead, while Chengcheng walked beside Qin Mu, matching her pace but staying quiet.
Qin Mu occasionally lowered her head and, seeing how well-behaved her son was, felt a faint ache in her heart. Maybe it was because of her that Chengcheng had become so quiet.
She couldn’t help reaching out to take his hand and chat with him.
From start to finish, Mu Yichen didn’t talk much, only occasionally exchanging looks with his son.
After they got back to the apartment, Mu Yichen took off his coat and went straight into the kitchen to boil water for them and then start preparing dinner.
Qin Mu lay bonelessly on the sofa, enjoying the "massages" from her son and daughter.
"Mom, does that feel good?"
Huanhuan asked as she massaged her shoulders, pinky finger daintily raised; one could imagine how "comfortable" it was.
"Mm, it feels great."
Qin Mu answered lazily.
