Chapter 2149: Chapter 622: Grandpa and Grandson Team Up to Set Traps

It seemed like Yang Qin left all because of her. The more Qin Mu thought about it, the more upset she became. If it hadn’t been for the little one waking up later, she would have still been complaining.

Hearing Xiaonao’s voice, she immediately set aside matters concerning Mu Yichen and walked quickly towards the bed to comfort Xiaonao.

Mu Yichen stood outside the door and, hearing her walk away, stood for a while. Only when someone called him from downstairs did he have to leave.

"Since you’re home, play a game of chess with me!"

It was the old man. Waking up from his afternoon nap, he was feeling bored. Upon hearing his grandson was at home, he thought it was a good time to play chess together.

"You always seem to be in a good mood every day!"

Mu Yichen couldn’t help but mumble as he walked behind him.

The old man glanced back at him and chuckled, "Exactly!"

Mu Yichen...

The old man noticed his grandson’s gloominess, so he said as he sat down, "There’s a saying: unlucky in love, lucky in gambling. How about a bet between us? I’ll grant you a wish if you win."

Upon hearing this, Mu Yichen’s spirits lifted. The old man was giving him an opportunity, so he...

His gaze immediately turned clever as he smiled and began setting the pieces.

The old man chuckled lightly, his expression suggesting he understood his grandson’s thoughts well.

Not long after, Feng Fanghua returned home too and saw the grandfather and grandson playing chess, with no one else around.

"Where’s Qin Mu?"

After Feng Fanghua changed into comfortable clothes in her room, she came out and sat next to them and asked.

"She’s upstairs comforting the child!"

The old man kept his head down playing chess and spoke dispassionately.

Mu Yichen raised his eyes slightly. He was the one in a bad mood initially, but now it looked like the old man was the one feeling down.

The old man had offered to grant Mu Yichen a wish if he lost, intending to please Mu Yichen. But now that he was really about to lose, he was infinitely troubled.

Feng Fanghua noticed the old man’s unhappiness was due to losing at chess, so she quietly slipped away.

Qin Mu was still upstairs playing with Xiaobao. When she heard the knock on the door, she instinctively thought it was Mu Yichen, but quickly dismissed the thought, reasoning Mu Yichen wouldn’t knock.

Upon opening the door, she saw it was Feng Fanghua. Surprised, yet she politely greeted her, "Mom!"

"Hmm! Just got back. The grandfather and grandson are playing chess downstairs. I came up to chat with you!"

Feng Fanghua replied, glancing at the little one on the bed, her expression softening.

"Alright!"

Qin Mu agreed, closed the door, and the mother and daughter sat on the bed and started chatting. Feng Fanghua happily embraced Xiaonao and softly said, "It would be great if this were our family’s baby, wouldn’t it?"

Qin Mu only smiled, having nothing much to say.

Feng Fanghua understood her meaning, smiled as well, and said, "Last night I dreamt you were pregnant. But of course, it’s just my wishful thinking. My dear son wouldn’t want you to have another baby, and you wouldn’t want to be a baby-making machine either. Just treat it as if I didn’t say anything. I just got sentimental after seeing your sister’s child."

Qin Mu still remained quiet, not daring to say anything, just sitting quietly beside her.

"When are Mingzhu and her husband coming back from their trip?"

Feng Fanghua asked again, her expression very amiable as she held the baby.

"She said they would be home by eight tomorrow night!"

Qin Mu softly responded.

"That girl probably doesn’t want to come back too soon. It’s rare for her to go on a trip with her husband and enjoy some couple time."

"Hmm! But I heard Wang Family’s elders are coming over soon. They’re reluctant to leave the little grandson for the couple to take care of alone."

Qin Mu continued speaking softly, relaying what Qin Mingzhu told her.

"Is that so? Then I might visit more often!"

Feng Fanghua was also a bit excited to hear that. She understood that most elders couldn’t bear to leave their grandchildren.

"Hmm!"

Qin Mu nodded, and she and Feng Fanghua leaned in to tease Xiaonao. Xiaonao smiled excitedly as she approached, clutching a little duck, which quacked every time he squeezed it hard.

"Oh! Nothing, not even the greatest joy in this household can compare to the happiness a child brings. Just look at how adorable his smile is!"

Feng Fanghua looked at the smile, her heart melting.

"If you like him, I can often bring him over for you to see."

Qin Mu then suggested.

"Better not! Mingzhu might be willing, but if her in-laws knew, they’d think we were trying to steal their child, which would upset them."

Feng Fanghua laughed, but declined Qin Mu’s suggestion.

Qin Mu only watched Feng Fanghua’s expression as they spoke, remaining quiet for the moment.
