Chapter 3029: Chapter 42: Squeezed Out
The sky lost its color.
The earth trembled.
All life in the Palin world felt a fear stemming from instinct.
Moss wilted on the rock walls, fungal hyphae curled into clumps, the Man-eating Flowers clamped their mouths shut, teeth clattering within petals, while deep in the wasteland, the War Ancient Trees peeled off their bark to cover the trembling elves.
Corpse-eating Beetles in the crevices burst into collective hysteria, like sprites of a choir, piously folding their forelegs and antennae, scraping their sharp mouthparts; the elderly Giant Dragon hidden in the mountains turned over laboriously in its massive heap of treasures, curled its claws, exposing its wrinkled belly.
The shaman from the indigenous tribe crawled under a towering totem pole, watching in horror as stinking liquid seeped from the stone pillar’s base. Meanwhile, the wizards descending from outside raised the Alliance’s "The Code," loudly reciting its clauses.
Atop the Observatory Tower.
Morris saw his reflection in Avril’s Crystal Ball; each moment, those reflections died in various ways, without exception. As for a few lower-ranking hunters from the team, perhaps due to the proximity, had already lost consciousness, lying sprawled on the cold bluish stone slabs of the terrace.
The captain of the Green Hunting Team struggled, barely lifting his head, gazing at those four enormous figures seemingly close, yet unfathomably distant.
Four Legendary Wizards.
If the diviner lady had told him half a day ago that he would witness four legendaries ganging up against an unknown entity at the Observatory Tower today, he would surely have thought their diviner had lost her mind.
But now, four distinctly different yet similarly vast and grand auras truly pervaded every corner of this world, clearly informing him this wasn’t a Dreamland, but reality.
The reality of the Palin world.
Years ago, he heard that the Black Prison World managed by the First University suffered a surprise attack by the Demon Alliance Army, nearly turning the entire world into Purgatory, with less than one in a hundred prisoners surviving. Back then, when he read the related news in the bulletin, he laughed with others, believing those Black Wizards deserved their fate.
Now, he only felt it was the cruelest joke of destiny.
Outside the Palin world.
Several more legendary figures landed at the edge of the World Crystal Wall, peering inside. Several crystalline thoughts collided in the void, savoring a tea break from destiny.
"——What kind of magic is this? A legendary summoning technique?"
"——What kind of legendary summoning technique can summon three legendaries?"
"——Perhaps this is the legendary ’Three Pure Ones from One Qi’?"
"——Bullshit."
"——Hmm, can anyone tell me, what’s happening inside?"
"——Seems like a leak of high-dimensional aura... people from the relevant departments of the First University are handling it now. No need to try entering, it’s so crowded inside now that turning around is difficult."
"——Relevant departments? Who’s there? Babel? Eden? Or Buzhou?"
"——It’s Order, a newly established organization within the relevant departments. The leader is the president’s apprentice, a young person holding interpretive rights to the ’Order,’ no, a young Side Door Legend."
"——A Side Door Legend is still a legend. Especially given his youth. Furthermore, summoning three legendary helpers in one go, isn’t that true legend enough?"
The outside chatter did not reach Zheng Qing’s ears; the world’s tremors were not visible to him either. At this moment, all his attention was focused on the Law book in his hand and the spell written at the cost of a Black Gemstone Cat.
"Order: Banish."
He had used this spell before, but the effect was poor.
Those seven-colored radiance threads roaming in the void, like slippery eels smeared with oil, even banishment spells at forbidden curse level could only erase part of them, while another portion hid in the cracks of time and law, emerging again once the magic power had passed, swaggering through the void anew.
Zheng Qing resolutely halted the casting, no longer wasting magic power—he realized that to erase these high-dimension concepts, he must first prevent them from hiding in the cracks of the world’s law; to seal those cracks, he must fill them first.
So, he chose to find helpers.
That is, three other legendaries.
Let their existence and aura fill the entire world, sealing all the cracks in the law—which, essentially, Legendary Wizards are a concept larger than Big Wizards, so large that the ’current world’ cannot accommodate their existence, being forced to accept their detachment from the constraints of time and destiny; so large that even when sitting squarely in a realm, their presence occupies most of the world’s space, space in all dimensions.
However, if one legendary unabashedly releases their true form in the world, it won’t entirely fill every corner; two legendaries releasing their true form would cause destructive disasters to the world, like the Cloud Sea World two years ago.
That wasn’t the result Zheng Qing wanted.
He came to save the world, not annihilate it.
Therefore, he chose a safer method, allowing four legendaries to act together, using three legendary figures as a framework, the World Crystal Wall as a barrier, employing the Battle Array to expand the inner space of the world, containing the legendary self, and then slowly releasing the legendary concepts through adjusting the Battle Array’s exit, until all the gaps in this world’s law are filled, leaving no escape for those seven-colored radiance.
Facts proved this method very effective.
The Order Book shone with myriad splendors in Taiyi’s hands, sweeping towards the seemingly boundless sea of seven-colored flowers, each brilliance passing and a seven-colored flower falling, wilting into nothingness in the void. Countless brilliance swept by, countless seven-colored flowers vanished from the Palin world.
As if only a moment passed, the universe suddenly cleared.
The seven-colored sea of flowers disappeared, the seven-colored radiance and the rolling light clusters were gone too. The sky became submerged in orange sunlight once more, seemingly emitting a sweet fragrance to the observer’s gaze.
The enormous Azure Dragon was gone.
The flower-patterned Tiger was gone.
The tall figure with iron chains was gone.
The legendary wearing the Order Cloak was gone.
Outside the Palin world.
The legendaries, having savored a feast of visual splendor, left a few parting thoughts before contentedly returning to their respective realms.
Atop the Observatory Tower.
Morris stood at the edge of the terrace, gazing at the unchanged scene in the distance from the morning, feeling the world suddenly more empty, touched the bloodstains remaining on the corner of his mouth, sighed softly, and turned to his still slumbering companions.
Outside San You Bookstore.
Zheng Qing stood at the store entrance, watching the Gypsy witch asleep peacefully behind the counter through the glass window, exhaled lightly, but ultimately did not push the door open again. Instead, he picked up the Flower Cat, letting it tear through space and take him back to Buji Island.
"Coward."
The Yellow Flowered Cat commented on the warlock’s behavior with one word, then added, "I think what Xiaoqing said last time was quite fair, some troubles you can drag out for as long as you want, it doesn’t matter. However, when you’ve dealt with external mundane affairs and return once more, those troubles will still be there. Moreover, they will have become more thorny than before you left."
The Little Green Snake started pretending to be an earring again.
The witch lying on the counter closed her eyes, her breathing light and long, clearly sleeping soundly. However, after the warlock left the entrance, a tear quietly slid down her tightly shut eyes.
The droplet fell onto the cool tabletop, silently shattering.
