Chapter 3026: Chapter 39: A Day for Funerals
Observatory Tower.
It’s an observation post set by the Alliance in peripheral worlds like Palin, generally used to anchor the world’s position, monitor evils, and guard some important magic nodes. According to regulations, a stationed wizard is a standard hunting team of five, with at least one member of Great Wizard Level strength.
Most of the time, the wizards in the Tower are idle, drawing a generous hazardous duty and travel allowance, indulging themselves in their magic experiments. Occasionally, the wizards in the Tower hold funerals for their companions.
To put it more bluntly.
This job is usually so dull that people grow restless, occasionally busy with funerals.
Like today.
It’s the day for a funeral.
Crack!
The ’Star Eye’ hanging over the Observatory Tower emitted a sinister sound, with strands of seven-colored radiance trailing from its ancient bronze rim. The eye, usually majestic and deep, now seemed like a melting rainbow candy. Anyone who saw it would involuntarily think of the words ’Chaos’ and ’Confusion’.
"——Captain, we feel like we’re going to die."
Avril clutched the Law book in her hand, looking up at the seven-colored radiance intermittently falling from the sky, with a hint of exhaustion in her voice: "Ah, it’s really terrible... I haven’t returned the book ’Transformations of People, Ghosts, Spirits, Beasts, and Monsters’ that I borrowed from San You Bookstore."
The Green Hunting Team’s captain, Morris, lowered his head, holding a feather pen, meticulously copying ’Maintaining Rock-like Firmness’ into the Law book. It’s the most reliable Guardian Magic he could think of.
Because until now, he couldn’t figure out whether the twisted, worm-like thing overhead was a monster, a natural disaster, a phenomenon of nature, or something else.
According to the Tower’s observation records, since the Alliance’s first pioneering hunting team arrived in Palin World, that seven-colored radiance hung suspended in mid-air like an eternal sun. Wizards attacked the radiance with a magic attack, yet it showed no reaction; releasing Gargoyles into the radiance resulted in feedback indicating emptiness within, with nothing there.
It’s like a mirage eternally hanging in the sky.
It would be nice if things had always been peaceful.
Morris sighed deeply, closed the copied Law book, and glanced around him—Wandering Hunter James was riding his Ghost Wolf, pacing around the terrace, vigilant for an attack that could arrive at any moment; Hunter Du Zhong was short an arm and a leg, already unconscious. Earlier, when he ventured out of the tower to check the range affected by the seven-colored radiance, he accidentally touched a bit of that strange light, losing his senses instantly, and the arm and leg touched by the radiance vanished without a trace. Auxiliary Hunter Wendigo crouched by a stone table, engrossed in eating raw dragon meat. The female fortune-teller Avril had completely turned into a defeatist, advising everyone to write their wills every other sentence.
What a dreadful day.
How did things end up this way?
Morris looked up at the sky, the twisted radiance seemed like a broken insect, using its invisible mouth to nibble away at Palin World’s crystal wall bit by bit. The threads of seven-colored radiance falling down seemed like debris being bitten off the crystal wall.
Except these fragments hit the ground without gouging deep trenches, nor did any trees fall, houses collapse, or dust rise. They simply vanished silently into the earth, like rainwater seeping into the soil.
But this does not mean they have no impact on this world.
Because each strand of radiance penetrating the surface causes the world to mildly tremble, like a fevered patient doused with cold water shivering in the chill breeze.
"——Truly beautiful."
The female fortune-teller of the Green Hunting Team leaned halfway out over the railing, watching a wisp of radiance gently falling, with a look of infatuation in her eyes: "It’s like the sky raining light in seven colors."
Whoosh!
A large hand pulled her back into a stumble, barely allowing the witch time to yelp before seeing a streak of radiance nearly missing her nose and hitting the railing. With no cry of anguish, the thick white jade railing silently disappeared from this world.
Then the Observatory Tower shook violently.
"The light rain won’t kill you, but these odd things can."
After pulling Avril back, Morris’s face showed no joy; rather it was more worried: "——The frequency of these strands falling is getting faster, and their density increasing. We can’t hold on for much longer."
"Did we ever hold on?"
The fortune-teller smiled helplessly: "The only thing we’ve done is stand on the terrace in a daze, watching it fall piece by piece, and attempting to rescue Boss Du of unknown fate."
"——We did send a distress signal to the Alliance, didn’t we?"
The head of a Ghost Wolf abruptly extended between the fortune-teller and captain, filled with vibrant energy: "Once the Alliance’s reinforcements come, these troubles will surely be solved!"
"Hopefully so."
The Green Hunting Team’s captain—also the team’s only Big Wizard—nodded noncommittally, unconvinced that Alliance reinforcements could resolve the situation. Generally, the first wave of reinforcements consisted of a hunting team of five Great Wizards.

From his hazy sense.
The power hidden within that seven-colored radiance was more profound than the Legends he had seen from the Alliance.
"——Watch out!"
A terrifying scream from the fortune-teller lady reached his ears.
As Morris regained composure, the corner of his eye saw James, riding his Ghost Wolf, barreling headlong towards a wisp of seven-colored radiance drifting from nowhere.
No time!
Morris frantically activated the magic power within him, attempting to knock James away before the strand of light stuck to his neck. But the Ghost Wolf’s position was so skewed that even if Morris nearly broke his arm, it was difficult to help James evade the beam.
At the crucial moment.
Buzz!
Suspended above the Mage tower, amidst the void, the twisted seven-colored radiance suddenly ceased moving, akin to a bug fallen into amber, struggling, rolling, yet unable to escape.
The hunters who escaped great danger looked at each other, their expressions bewildered.
But soon, everyone noticed the figure slowly approaching from afar.
Compared to heaven and earth, He seemed extremely small, yet He firmly attracted everyone’s attention, making one feel as if He was in the center of every corner where the gaze fell.
His body was shrouded in infinite brilliance, as radiant as the Sun, His appearance although blurry, exuded a youthful sense. Draped in a white cloak, He took steps that seemed slow yet rapid, traversing a great distance in just a few strides, arriving at the Observatory Tower, standing before the hunters of the Green Hunting Team, beneath the twisted seven-colored radiance.
The winds gusted fiercely.
The wide cloak billowed high.
Morris noticed the black lines on the back of the cloak elegantly sketching two upright characters—’Order’.
Perhaps it was a delusion, the Green Hunting Team’s captain faintly perceived a subtle fragrant scent filling the air unnoticed, and the wondrous sound faintly echoed by the ear, as if someone were whispering at his ear, giving him the illusion of knowing everything at the moment.
A Legend!
The hunting team’s Big Wizard finally confirmed the suspicion deep inside, revitalized and overjoyed. Only his gaze landed on those two characters on the back of the cloak, a hint of doubt arose unbidden in his heart.
Where is ’Order’?
Never heard of such an institution or organization existing in the Alliance!
