High School of Demon Hunting
Chapter 2970 - 14: Korma
Chapter 2970: Chapter 14: Korma
Korma groggily opened her eyes.
A few fireflies fluttered their wings, leisurely flying past her eyes, finally landing on the shelf of the liquor cabinet, using their mouthparts to explore a small puddle of leftover blue liquid at the edge of the shelf. Soon, their plump bellies slowly swelled, emitting a faint blue glow.
Sakura Pub.
The name flashed through the witch’s mind, and the heavy thoughts associated with it were gradually dragged out from the depths of a boundless ocean, beginning to illuminate one node after another.
Who am I?
What am I doing?
Why am I here?
What seemed like simple but very complex questions and answers popped up one after another, constantly enriching her consciousness, as if like a snowball rolling down the snow mountain, becoming faster and faster, and larger.
I am Korma, the North District Grand-Wizard, and the vice dean of Edge Academy.
This is my home.
In my own home... I was attacked.
She raised her arm, looking at her pale, almost translucent skin, feeling as though she could directly see the faintly trembling blood vessels and pink muscles beneath it.
Hoo!
A long, icy breath was slowly exhaled from her lungs, and she remembered - she had received the other vice dean of Edge Academy at the Sakura Pub, poured him a drink, but he had ambushed her. As a Big Wizard, she had an advantage since she had advanced earlier. Yet, he took out a legendary-level talisman.
This isn’t fair!
A fiercely burning flame ignited in the witch’s heart, casting a blush on her pale skin, and her magic power began to bubble like boiling water, causing the entire pub to buzz. The bottles on the shelves clinked against each other, emitting a crisp sound, while the fireflies, not having finished sipping the pale blue liquor, nervously flapped their wings, trying to flee, yet reluctant to leave the delicious dish before them.
"Awake?"
A familiar, sharp voice came to her ears, as if a bucket of cold water, instantly suppressing her boiling magic power: "—Just woke up, don’t get too excited, it’s not good for your health."
Korma slowly turned her head.
She saw a chubby, small figure sitting on the bar stool.
It was the Rat Immortal.
Compared to the first time she met him, the Rat Immortal before her seemed to have shrunk a bit. However, his appearance hadn’t changed. A chubby rat face, three chins, a round belly, straining against the waistcoat over his black robe, and a long, thin tail coiled by his feet, like a sleeping serpent.
A row of glass vessels of various sizes lined up in front of him, filled with liquids of different colors. One bottle containing a light green solution was just a glance enough to make Korma’s mouth water, causing her whole body’s magic power to perk up a bit.
"That is a Life Potion, given by the school."
Seemingly noticing her gaze, the Rat Immortal explained lightly, "It can help a Big Wizard quickly recover physical damage without any aftereffects... It’s a very, very expensive magic potion. But don’t worry, as the vice dean of the First University, the school will cover all these bills."
This explanation didn’t improve the witch’s mood.
"Where is Montelio?" Perhaps because she hadn’t spoken for a long time, her voice was slightly hoarse, and mentioning that name caused her suppressed anger to flare once again.
The Rat Immortal was silent for a few seconds.
"Dead."
He finally spat out those two words, paused, and shook his head: "No, to be precise, worse than dead. He stole your ’Primordial,’ and led the presence of the Starry Sky to the school, broke too many rules... So the principal refined him."
This seemingly plain yet shockingly terrifying answer once again suppressed the witch’s rising anger.
Hoo!
She let out a long breath.
As a Big Wizard, she may not have as precise a grasp on reality as a legend, but enough to ’comprehend by analogy.’ Just hearing those two sentences from the Rat Immortal was enough to allow her to deduce far too many facts.
But these facts brought her even more confusion.
"The principal? The principal returned to school?"
This was the first thought that emerged from the witch, quickly followed by other questions: "—What does it mean he was ’refined’ by the principal? Who did he bring? Why? Just because of ’Primordial’? Why did he steal my Primordial?"
"One at a time, no rush, the night is still long."
The Rat Immortal picked up the cup containing the Life Potion, poured a small cup of green liquid for the witch, pushed it to her front, and comforted her: "I can tell you slowly..."
The witch couldn’t suppress herself and grasped the cup, eagerly pouring it into her mouth.
The Rat Immortal watched this scene with a smile.
"Montelio was the leader of the Crows." He leisurely filled in gaps in Korma’s recent memory: "—Of course, I believe you already had a bit of a guess on this."
The witch silently gazed at the remaining light green in the bottom of the cup, staying silent.
She indeed had some guesses.
But out of her own weakness, fear of consequences, and the difficult situation of North District and Edge School, she kept silent. This is understandable. With so many wizards in the school much stronger than her doing nothing, why should she?
The Rat Immortal didn’t dwell on this point, shifting the topic and continuing: "—Last semester, during the winter break, the school and the Trident Sword hunted down the Black Wizard Walter in the Silent Forest, which you should also remember. Walter ultimately failed, partly due to the school’s hunt, but more so due to the natural collapse of his body. Montelio was the same. He risked experimenting on himself with an unfinished transformation technique, the transplanted demon flesh lost control, so he had to find a new body..."
"Primordial." Korma softly replied.
"Exactly, ’Primordial.’" The Rat Immortal sighed gently, nodded, then shook his head: "Timing and fate. Probably because he successfully stole your Primordial, his self-confidence swelled a bit, wanting to solve the school’s potential pursuit once and for all, so he led a great presence from the Deeps of Starry Sky... Don’t ask me who, just know it is one of the strongest few... In any case, the impact of this matter was so vile, so the principal stepped in, in the public eye, refining him into a War Puppet."
"In the public eye?"
"Half of the legends in the Alliance witnessed this scene, I must admit, this incident had an enormous deterrence on the entire Wizard World..."
"Then the principal..."
"The principal did not come back. Well, to be precise, the principal returned temporarily to deal with this little trouble, and then left again. Exactly where the elder went, or whether he will return... no one dares to say, no one knows. If anyone does know..."
