Chapter 156– Costumes And Roles

Yuki

“…But, why us, Serafall-sama?” Koneko asked.

Rias had mentioned that we were needed for our ‘special powers’.

But if it’s for a film, then I don’t know what she meant by that.

“It’s simple you see! Among you there is a legendary Dragon, a holy sword welder, a vampire, and a Kitsune and Nekomata Youkai!” The director grinned while counting off each example on a finger. “It’s perfect! Your group is filled with those that could be seen as the rivals of Devils! And with your recent win in the Rating Games, you are all known throughout the underworld. Each of you is being talked about a lot right now! That's why I asked Serafall-sama to request for you, so that you could act as the enemies of Levia-tan!”

So he was planning to piggy back on our current popularity for this film.

The diversity in our group also fit the mold for the enemies that Serafall-sama listed in her show.

“This seems interesting.” Xenovia muttered to herself.

“I-I’m scared of all the attention… but since it’s Maou-sama’s request, I’ll try and be brave….” Gasper-kun added while hiding behind the group.

“Even though I wasn’t specifically requested, I would be honored to participate in Levithan-sama’s film.” Yuuto said.

Apparently we were accepting the request.

Not that I felt like we had a lot of room to refuse it now that we were already here.

“….I’ll do my best.” Koneko said, before glancing at me to gauge my reaction.

I let out a small sigh.

“I will do my best as well, Leviathan-sama.”

“I guess we all are going to be in the film,” Issei said, then turned to Asia. “Are you fine with that, Asia?”

Asia hesitantly nodded.

“I wasn’t specifically requested, but if Serafall-sama is alright with me, then I’ll do it.”

“Great, then it looks like we are all in agreement.” Yuuto said.

Everyone looked nervous and excited to star in a film.

Then I noticed that Issei had a stupid grin on his face for some reason.

“Then I’d be able to do things with actresses of the Underworld like this…” he muttered to himself as he made a poking gesture in the air while chuckling to himself.

Koneko shot him an annoyed look before lifting her foot and bringing it down hard on his.

“…Imagining indecent things is forbidden….Pervert senpai….”

Issei yelped and pouted at Koneko.

I nodded at Koneko’s actions.

Yuuto shook her head before turning to the director and Serafall-sama.

“We, the servants of Rias Gremory, accept your offer to act in this film. We will do our best to ensure you are satisfied, Serafall-sama.”

“Great☆!” Serafall-sama said, making another peace sign. “Now we will have to get each of you ready to star in the film. That means you’ll need to get your costumes and lines. So, film director-san will handle that, and I would like to talk to Shiramine Yuki-chan☆!”

Rias had mentioned that she wanted to speak to me about something.

Hopefully it was nothing too serious.

“Of course Leviathan-sama. I will be happy to assist you.” I said bowing slightly.

“Oh you don’t need to act so formal! I just need to talk to you for a few minutes. And while we are on set, just call me Levia-tan☆!”

“I don’t know if that’s something I could do Leviath—“

“Call me Levia-tan☆!” she said cheerily, cutting me off.

I blinked.

“…of course.. Levia-tan. It will be an honor to assist you.”

“That’s better☆! Now let’s go!” She grabbed my hand and started dragging me away.

I looked back at my group as I was quickly led away.

Yuuto looked confused.

Koneko was frowning.

Asia looked concerned.

Xenovia was watching the beast Serafall-sama rode in on again.

And Issei, and Gasper-kun were waving goodbye to me.

It looked like I would be alone with a Maou for a bit.

That’s not something that I’d had a good track record with so far.

Koneko

I was currently walking in a forest on the island we had been transported to with Issei-senpai, Asia-senpai, Xenovia-senpai, and Gya-kun.

We were told to head into this forest for our first scene of filming after we had all changed into costume.

Yuuto-senpai had stayed back to wait for Yuki-senpai when she still hadn’t returned after leaving with Serafall-sama.

I had wanted to stay instead but Yuuto-senpai had pointed out that she still needed her own costume since they needed to make alterations to it, since she wasn’t originally expected to come with us.

But I was worried about Yuki-senpai.

She didn’t do well around powerful figures and she had been dragged away by one.

She hadn’t looked panicked, only confused as she was led away, so I wasn’t as worried as I could have been.

Around us we could hear the calls of different animals as we walked, and the clinking sound of Issei-senpai’s heavy looking costume.

He was dressed in a red plated suit of armor that was an imitation of his Balance Breaker scale mail.

Maou-sama had already been aware of the time limit he had in his armored state, so she had a suit of heavy duty prop armor made ahead of time.

Now Issei senpai was struggling to walk along with us in it.

The armor was well made.

It looked just like the real thing and it had a few features as well.

The face mask could slide open and the jewels on the armor could emit sound.

It was impressive for how short notice the request to have it made must have been.

“Ise-san.” Asia-senpai said as we came to a stop in a small clearing.

Issei-senpai removed the face mask of his armor and turned around.

“D-Do I look good in my costume?” Asia-senpai nervously asked.

“You look good Asia! But what exactly is your costume supposed to be?” He asked.

Issei-senpai had been so focused on ensuring he didn’t trip over roots or rocks while in his heavy armor, that he hadn’t really paid attention to what our costumes were.

Asia-senpai wore a dark and ominous robe with red metal clasps and a deep hood.

She had leather wraps on her arms and small bone trinkets hanging from her belt and wrists.

The robe she wore was slightly torn to give it a more menacing appearance.

“Umm, my costume is supposed to be the priestess who worships the Red Dragon Emperor,” Asia-senpai said as she pushed back her hood.

Her costume was trying to make her seem sinister, but Asia-senpai was too gentle and cute to look any kind of threatening.

It was an odd combination.

“And I am supposed to be the evil holy sword wielder," Xenovia-senpai added.

She was wearing furs and leather on her body.

She looked like an Amazonian or a cave woman.

She wore a small leather top with a pelt on one shoulder and the skull on her other shoulder.

A short fur skirt was her only other accessory.

Xenovia-senpai’s costume exposed a large amount of skin and cleavage.

Issei-senpai was already staring.

But Xenovia-senpai didn’t seem to care.

“To be playing an evil holy sword wielder… Fufufu, it’s fitting as a former member of the Church who was cast out only to become a Devil in the end.”

Xenovia-senpai still seemed to be stuck on the fact that she had become a Devil on a whim.

When she had been cast out of the Church for learning that God had died in the last war, she had nowhere to go.

She didn’t know anyone outside the Church and barely knew how to function in the human world.

So she turned to Buchou.

I think that it was a good thing for her, but she still sometimes talks about it and how she is unsure of her choice.

But we would be here for her.

She was part of our peerage and our friend.

She just needed more time.

I sighed as it was my turn to explain my costume to the others.

“…..I’m a maid.”

That was it.

I was wearing a black and white classic maids outfit that was modified to allow my tails and ears to be free.

There was nothing special about my costume, and while I was glad it wasn’t as revealing Xenovia-senpai’s it was boring.

Issei-senpai wore plate armor.

Asia-senpai wore ominous priestess garb.

Xenovia-senpai looked like a barbarian.

And I was a maid.

It didn’t make sense with the other’s costumes and felt

It felt like someone had wanted to see a cat maid so I was given the costume despite it being out of place.

Hopefully Yuuto-senpai’s or Yuki-senpai’s costume made mine make more sense.

Our setting was supposed to be that Issei-senpai was the evil Dragon sealed in the island.

The rest of us are a part of an evil organization who plans to resurrect the Dragon and use him for our goals.

Then Serafall-sama’s character, Levia-tan arrives to stop us.

It seems like a simple and straightforward plot to the film.

But it’s a children’s show so it’s better that it’s not very complicated.

And our characters shouldn’t cause any issues with the other factions in our alliance.

That’s when I noticed that one of our group was missing.

“…Where did Gya-kun go?”

The others realized that he was missing as well and we looked around the clearing to see if we could find him.

Then Gya-kun’s voice called out.

“I-I’m here.”

I stopped and looked towards where I heard him from.

I didn’t notice anything at first until I looked down and saw a cardboard box on the ground with two eye holes cut out of it.

There were two shining red eyes looking out from them.

“I-I’m right here, Koneko-chan.”

I sighed as I saw what I’m assuming was his costume.

“Hey… Gasper, is that your costume? Please tell me that you’re wearing a costume inside that box.” Isse-senpai said.

“T-This is my costume!” Gya-kun said, sounding excited. “When people started to show up to tell us to get into costume, I panicked and hid in this box. The Director saw it and thought that it would look good as an enemy in the film. He said it was a new and unique idea.”

Issei-senpai’s eye twitched as he stared at Gya-kun.

I wondered if Xenovia-senpai and I should try to train Gya-kun out of his hiding habits again.

I would need more garlic…

“Are you really alright with this?” Issei-senpai asked. “Your face won’t appear in the film if that’s your costume. People won’t recognize you, but you’ll definitely stick out in a strange way!”

“Yes! That's even better! I don’t want anyone to look at me anyways!” Gus-kun replied.

Issei-senpai shook his head.

Then I heard footsteps of people approaching.

I heard Yuuto-senpai’s and Yuki-senpai’s voices.

“…at least your costume is only uncomfortable. Mine is… too much. Or too little really.” Yuki-senpai said.

“Well, you have your robe I guess, that will help.” Yuuto-senpai replied.

“But Serafall-sama told me to make sure it doesn’t cover up the rest of my costume too much.”

The two of them came into view while talking.

When they did I froze.

Yuuto-senpai news wearing dark, ornate looking armor.

It was black with silver accents and shaped to show off her feminine features.

She wore a red cape and prop devil horns on her head.

And the armor was like a leotard, where it covered her arm, chest, and stomach, but left her legs exposed.

She had metal boots that went up to her mid thigh, as the armor ended by her crotch.

But Yuuto-senpai’s costume was not what made me freeze in place.

Yuki-senpai’s costume was.

She wore a costume that was obviously that of a witch, but it exposed a lot of skin.

She wore a large witches hat that allowed her fox ears to pass through.

She wore a slitted skirt that allowed her legs to be free as she walked.

I tore my eyes away from her legs as I took in the rest of her costume.

She wore black bodice with purple and gold highlights that fit tightly to her body, especially her chest.

The bodice left little to the imagination, but the mesh over her cleavage prevented her breasts from spilling out further.

Her sleeves were detached and ended in gloves that left her fingers free.

Her outfit had multiple trinkets and gems attached to it, and it looked to have had much more effort put into it than any of ours had, besides Issei-senpai’s.

“Whoa…” Issei-senpai mumbled seeing the two of them.

That broke me out of my daze and I quickly moved my gaze away from Yuki-senpai’s body.

I had decided that I wanted to get closer to senpai, but I needed to take things slow.

And me staring at her like Issei-senpai would wasn’t a good idea.

“Sorry it took us so long, Serafall-sama and I took longer than anticipated.” Yuki-senpai said as she walked up to us.

I noticed that the film crew had begun to arrive and were setting up cameras and other equipment as we talked.

“…what did Maou-sama want?” I asked Yuki-senpai.

She sighed.

“She wanted to ask me about when my seal was released by Buchou during the Three Faction’s summit and my state ability she saw during our Rating Game. Apparently, she was inspired by my ‘transformation sequences’ and wanted to talk to me about her Levia-tan character.”

I blinked.

That had not been what I expected at all.

“So, Serafall-sama talked to you about magical girl advice?” Issei-senpai asked.

“Yes. She seems to have taken a liking to me and decided that I should be able to be a magical girl like her,” Yuki-senpai said with a frown. “She even had this costume made for me after she saw me use Malediction’s embrace during our match.”

“Oh, so that’s why it’s so…” Asai-senpai trailed off.

“Serafall-sama said that magical girl outfits need to give plenty of fan service. So sadly I’m in the same boat as Xenovia-san regarding my costume.” Yuki-senpai replied.

“My costume is very easy to move in, and the furs are rather warm.” Xenovia-senpai said with a shrug.

Yuk-senpai shook her head at Xenovia-senpai’s response.

“Anyways, all of your costumes look rather nice.” Yuki-senpai said, looking over each of us.

Her eyes stopped when she got to me.

“….Does it look good on me, senpai?” I asked.

I felt my cheeks hear slightly as I clutched the sides of my skirt.

Yuki-senpai gave me a small smile.

“You look wonderful Koneko-chan. It’s very cute on you,” then she frowned. “But why is your costume a different style from ours? We all look rather menacing, while your costume… looks…” Yuki-senpai trailed off as she finally noticed Gya-kun and his box costume.

“Gasper-kun, is that really your costume?” She asked.

“Y-Yes! The director thought it would be unique!” Gya-kun energetically replied.

“That’s… well as long as you're happy with it, I guess,” Yuki-senpai said gently.

Yuuto-senpai took a step closer to Issei-senpai.

“W-What do you think of my ‘evil knight’ costume Ise-kun?”

He looked over her costume again.

Yuuto-senpai blushed slightly as his eyes moved over her body.

“It looks really cool, Yuuto-san! And it fits you really well. It does show off a lot of your legs though, but it looks a lot easier to move around in than my armor is.” Issei-senpai replied.

“It’s a little stiff in the joints, but otherwise it’s alright. It’s pretty good for something modified at the last minute to fit me.”

“So what is your character Yuki?” Asia-senpai asked.

“I’m an evil magical girl. Serafall-sama said that my transformation ability and curse spells would be fitting for a dark magical girl character,” Yuki-senpai frowned. “And she said that my character would be popular with the ‘chuni’ and ‘edgy’ crowd.”

Issei-senpai barked out a laugh before covering his mouth.

Yuki-senpai shot him a half hearted glare.

I looked away so that she wouldn’t see me fighting to keep a smile from forming on my face.

Serafall-sama wasn’t wrong.

Yuki-senpai’s powers and how she named her abilities would definitely get attention from that crowd.

She sighed.

“Anyways, are we going to start filming soon?”

Issei-senpai looked at the rest of us.

“Yeah, I think so. Let’s go talk to the film crew.”

We headed over a nearby crew member.

They looked up from the clipboard to

“Are you all ready to look over the script? After that we will move straight into filming.”

We were each handed a copy of the script.

I flipped through it quickly and saw that each of our lines and scenes were listed out by our costumes names.

We moved to a sitting area with tables of food and drinks.

I sat next to Yuki-senpai as I began to read the script.

I glanced at her costume again.

Maybe this would be more entertaining than I first thought.
