High Martial: I Use Everything as Swords
Chapter 523 - 322: The Military Soul Forges a God’s Throne; I Will Be This God
The outpost’s searchlights swung wildly, their beams looking as if they were being toyed with by an unseen hand.
"Shrink the Array’s range by another fifty meters!"
Gu Jian roared, his voice hoarse.
The healthy flush on his face had long since faded, replaced by a bloodless pallor.
His prized Crimson Spirit Armor was now dim, its light fading like a dying battery.
"We can’t shrink it any further!"
A Red Armored Elite shouted through gritted teeth, a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.
"If we shrink it any further, we’ll have to abandon outer barracks seven and eight. There are still over three hundred of our brothers in there!"
"If we don’t, we all die together!"
Gu Jian’s eyes were bloodshot. "This damn Array is like a giant lightbulb right now, attracting all the filth from dozens of miles around!"
Just as he said, the great "Mountains and Rivers" Array, which was meant to protect everyone, had now become a smorgasbord for otherworldly creatures.
What was once just formless spiritual erosion had now evolved into grotesque forms visible to the naked eye.
In the darkness, countless translucent tentacles and shadows of distorted faces frantically slammed against the faltering Energy Shield.
With every impact, the bodies of the thirteen people maintaining the Array shuddered violently.
Screams rose and fell at the edge of the camp.
Soldiers forced outside the core protective circle either shriveled into corpses the moment a shadow touched them, or their eyes rolled back as they swung their blades at the comrades beside them.
Chaos was spreading like a plague.
"Damn it! Why isn’t Advisor Han back yet?"
An officer looked up at the pitch-black night sky in despair. "Could he already be..."
"Shut up!" Ye Jinghong snapped.
He stood at the center of the Array, shouldering the greatest pressure.
His dark-gold Shattered Peak Heavy Armor groaned under the immense strain, but he still stood ramrod straight, an unshakable pillar in the eye of the storm.
But even this pillar was trembling.
’Two hours?’
’That was an optimistic estimate.’
’At this intensity, they’ll be sucked dry in half an hour, tops.’
"I’m going to back him up!"
Gu Jian abruptly withdrew a portion of his Divine Soul’s output, stumbling as he prepared to charge outside.
"Are you insane?! Leaving the Array is a death sentence!"
"It’s better than waiting here to die!"
Gu Jian’s eyes were crimson. "I’ll see if I can cut a path through them!"
Just then, a familiar roar echoed from the night sky.
It wasn’t a monster’s shriek, but the Tearing sound of a high-bypass engine in a steep dive.
"He’s here!" someone cried out in delighted surprise.
A silver streak instantly pierced the darkness, showing no sign of slowing down as it fell like a meteor.
It hurtled straight toward a massive dark shadow hovering over the base.
That was the focal point of all the eldritch energy—a formless, octopus-like spiritual aggregate.
In the instant before impact, the X-01 Prototype abruptly pulled up, leveled out, and hovered.
The hatch popped open.
Han Feng, clad in dark-silver Spirit Armor, stepped out.
He didn’t descend right away. Instead, he hovered above the aggregate as a silver light flared within his eyes.
Eye of Insight, fully activated.
In his vision, there was no darkness below. There was only a mire of countless tangled negative emotions and soul fragments, sprawling atop the "Mountains and Rivers" Array and feasting with abandon.
"Enjoying your meal, are we?"
Han Feng sneered. The Sword Essence within him began to churn violently as he pushed his Divine Sense to its absolute limit.
His recent battle with the Thousand-Eyed Demon Moth had given him a profound understanding of the weaknesses of such Spiritual Type entities.
"Let’s see if a little fire wakes you up!"
Han Feng made a grasping motion with his right hand. He didn’t draw a weapon, but instead directly mobilized the three thousand threads of Sword Aura in his body and activated the Divine Power Module.
Enhance: Soul-Burning Sword Aura.
Then, a terrifying surge of energy compressed and collapsed in his palm, finally forming a golden speck of light no bigger than a ping-pong ball.
With a flick, it shot forth.
The golden point of light sank into the formless black shadow.
There was no sound at all.
The next second—
BOOM!
It wasn’t a physical explosion, but a nuclear detonation on the spiritual plane.
Pure, masculine spiritual energy and razor-sharp Sword Intent detonated inside the black shadow.
The seemingly invincible spiritual aggregate didn’t even let out a scream, instantly melting and evaporating like a snowball tossed into a steel furnace.
The terrifying pressure that had been suffocating everyone suddenly vanished.
PFFT!
Below, Gu Jian and the other twelve people all spat out a mouthful of blood, their bodies going limp as they collapsed to the ground.
It wasn’t an injury, but utter exhaustion from the sudden release of immense tension.
"All done."
Han Feng dusted off his hands as the thrusters on his Spirit Armor flared with a faint blue light, gently lowering him into the central plaza.
The surrounding area was deathly silent.
Everyone stared at him as if he were a monster.
’The terrifying crisis that pushed them to the brink and nearly wiped them out... this guy just comes back and solves it with a wave of his hand?’
"Ad... Advisor Han."
Gu Jian struggled to his feet, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth. "That thing... Is it dead?"
"Not quite. It fled."
Han Feng replied casually, "That thing doesn’t have a physical body. You can’t kill it completely, only break it apart.
But it won’t be coming back to cause trouble anytime soon."
Ye Jinghong pushed aside the guards who tried to support him and strode up to Han Feng.
"Is this the ’good news’ you were talking about?"
"This is just the appetizer."
Han Feng looked at the Major General, who was swaying on his feet but still forcing himself to stand tall, a flash of admiration in his eyes. "The real good news is that I’ve found the ’walkthrough’ for this."
As soon as he spoke, the eyes of everyone present lit up with a terrifying brightness.
"What’s the plan? Tell us!"
"Do we need to use a special Magical Artifact?"
