High Martial: I Use Everything as Swords
Chapter 516 - 320: Crisis at the Base! One Man, One Sword, Charging into the Illusory Dream Marsh
"Report! In the medical tent, three lightly wounded soldiers have suddenly started self-harming!"
A series of urgent reports made everyone’s heart sink.
Something was wrong! And it wasn’t an isolated incident!
"Everyone! Cease all work! Assemble at the central plaza immediately!"
Ye Jinghong’s roar echoed across the base.
Panic spread rapidly among the soldiers.
Soon, several thousand soldiers had gathered in the plaza, but the atmosphere was terrifyingly oppressive.
From time to time, someone would go limp and collapse, or suddenly lose control of their emotions and be pinned down by their comrades.
Ye Jinghong’s expression was grim to the extreme.
He released his formidable Divine Soul, trying to envelop the entire plaza, only to discover that in the darkness, countless strange powers of different attributes were seeping in from all directions.
Some were cold and sinister, some were violent and berserk, and some tempted one to fall into depravity.
The moment his Divine Soul made contact with one, another would assail him from a different direction.
"Dammit!"
Ye Jinghong growled, "It’s impossible to defend against these damn things!"
He whipped his head around to look at the twelve Red Armored Elite behind him:
"All units, on my command! Release your Divine Souls! Form the ’Mountains and Rivers’ Array!"
"Yes, sir!"
Gu Jian and the other eleven responded in unison, not daring to delay for even a moment.
Thirteen streams of formidable Power of Divine Soul shot toward the sky, intertwining in the air. In an instant, they formed a massive, translucent Energy Shield that enveloped the entire outpost.
VMM!
The moment the shield formed, everyone felt a weight lift from them, and the cold, oppressive feeling was swept away completely.
The soldiers in the plaza who had lost control also gradually calmed down.
Outside the shield, however, the once-silent darkness seemed to have been enraged.
Countless shadows, invisible to the naked eye, slammed against the shield, sending ripples across its surface.
The shield’s light dimmed rapidly. The thirteen people maintaining the Array all grew pale, and beads of sweat formed on their foreheads.
As the core of the Array, Ye Jinghong bore the greatest pressure.
He felt less like he was repelling an attack and more like he was using his Spiritual Power to fill a bottomless pit.
"Gu Jian! How long can you hold on?" he asked through gritted teeth.
Gu Jian’s lips were a little pale.
"I can hold on for three hours!"
"But the number of these damn things is still increasing!
Our consumption rate is accelerating!
I’m afraid... two hours is our limit!"
Two hours!
The high-ranking officers in the tent felt their hearts grow heavy.
Once the Array shattered and they lost the protection of these thirteen Peak of Enlightenment Powerhouses, the several thousand ordinary soldiers in the base would be nothing but lambs to the slaughter.
"We have to find a way!"
An officer said anxiously, "If we just keep holding on like this, we’re all going to die here!"
"What way is there? These things are formless and intangible. We don’t even know where the enemy is!"
An atmosphere of despair began to permeate the command level.
"The natives."
In the dead silence, Han Feng calmly uttered two words.
All eyes turned to him.
"Those native tribes have lived in Dragon Abyss for who knows how many years.
They must have a way to get through the night safely."
Han Feng analyzed calmly.
His words were a wake-up call for everyone.
That’s right!
A crisis that left them, the Foreigners, helpless might just be a daily routine for the natives.
"Find them! Get the method out of them!" Gu Jian said immediately.
"How do we find them? Who goes?"
Another problem presented itself.
Outside the base was a death zone. Who would dare to leave the protection of the "Mountains and Rivers" Grand Array?
"I’ll go!"
"I’ll go!"
Several of the Red Armored Elite volunteered almost simultaneously.
"No!"
Ye Jinghong refused flatly. "You are the pillars of the Array. If even one of you leaves, the Grand Array’s power will plummet, and it will only collapse faster!"
He swept his gaze around, his eyes finally landing on Han Feng, the only one who looked perfectly composed, as if he were a mere bystander.
He was the only one present who wasn’t part of the Array system, the only one free to act.
As if he knew what was about to be said, Han Feng took a step forward.
"I’ll go."
"Are you confident?"
Ye Jinghong stared at him intently.
"These things can’t hurt me."
Han Feng was very confident.
His [Heart Clarity and Nature Seeing (High Level)] was the bane of all spiritual anomalies.
"Besides, I can fly. If I can’t win, I can definitely run," he added.
Only then did everyone remember that the man before them was not only a mysterious powerhouse but also the chief technical advisor for the Ghost Fighter and an ace Pilot.
In terms of mobility and survivability, no one present could surpass him.
"Good!"
Ye Jinghong no longer hesitated. This was their only hope.
He walked up to Han Feng and said solemnly:
"Advisor Han, the lives of all five thousand three hundred brothers in this base are in your hands."
"What support do you need?"
"None."
Han Feng shook his head. "More people means a bigger target."
"Just wait for my good news, General."
With that, he turned and left without another word.
Watched by thousands of gazes filled with a mixture of nervousness, anticipation, and reverence, Han Feng walked step by step toward the flight line.
On the flight line, Han Feng didn’t pause for a moment, walking straight toward the menacingly streamlined X-01 Prototype.
"Advisor Han..."
A member of the ground crew tried to say something, but Han Feng cut him off with a wave.
"Prepare for takeoff."
The cockpit canopy closed, the engines ignited, and the ghostly blue afterburners spat out a low hiss.
The next second, the silver fighter jet shot into the sky and, without a moment’s hesitation, plunged headfirst into the endless darkness.
Inside the cockpit, Han Feng’s expression was cold and stern.
"Coordinates: Illusory Dream Marsh."
The fighter moved silently through the darkness, like a true Ghost.
Soon, a lake and wetland appeared below, shrouded in a faint pink mist that emitted a strange glow even in the dead of night.
