High Martial Arts: Enlightenment after Practices

Chapter 762: 10,000 Times of "True Enlightenment", Self-Created Cultivation Technique

The two forces operated simultaneously, perfectly cooperating without interfering with one another.

He slowly exhaled and began practicing his first movement—Bow Step Punch. He had practiced this move hundreds of thousands of times and couldn’t possibly get it wrong, even with his eyes closed. But this time, the moment he threw the punch, he clearly felt a difference.

As his fist struck out, the invisible net deep within his body trembled slightly. A faint power surged from the net, merging into his Qi and Blood, his bones and muscles, and every exertion of his strength. The sensation was extremely subtle, as if something was quietly changing inside him. It was a profound transformation—like a seed had been planted within him that was slowly sprouting and growing, destined to one day become a towering tree.

He withdrew his fist, stood still, and then transitioned into his second movement—Horse Stance Strike.

The same sensation reappeared. The net deep inside him trembled slightly, and that faint power surged out once more to merge into his body. The third movement, the fourth, the fifth…

After going through a complete set, he clearly felt that he had indeed made progress. Though minute, he could sense it because he had personally created that rule and woven that net. Under the influence of that rule, every effective cultivation session would bring about tangible improvement.

He paused his movements and sank his consciousness into his sea of consciousness to look at the pale blue Heart of Order. It was still rotating slowly, but its light was slightly dimmer than before and its speed had decreased, as if telling him exactly how much power that single practice run had consumed.

Maintaining a rule required the consumption of the Power of Heart Image. While creating a rule consumed a massive amount of power upfront, it was merely a short-term, one-time cost. Sustaining its operation, however, was a long-term, continuous drain. As long as he was cultivating, the rule had to keep running, and as long as the rule was running, the Power of Heart Image would continue to be consumed.

This was why his efficiency wasn’t high. Since he had to multitask—refining his body while simultaneously sustaining the rule’s operation—the consumption of his Power of Heart Image was naturally double that of pure refinement.

But Xu Wuyi felt it was worth it. Once this rule was established, his cultivation would no longer be a series of simple repetitions, but rather a guaranteed accumulation. Every practice session would translate into tangible progress; no ounce of effort would be wasted.

To anyone else, this would sound like a fantasy. Putting in immense effort only to yield no harvest was a commonplace occurrence, especially at higher Realms. Even if other Grandmasters wanted to improve their physical fitness by consuming the Power of Heart Image, it would be incredibly difficult to achieve. But Xu Wuyi was different. Relying on the supreme authority of his own “Order” rule, he forcefully constructed this new regulation, allowing his Body Refining to shatter bottlenecks and strip away all upper limits.

Of course, this was also inseparable from the ten thousand instances of True Enlightenment he had just experienced, as well as his profound understanding of the Body Refining Technique.

He reassumed his Starting Form and resumed his practice. One time, two times, three times…

Time ticked by, second after second, minute after minute. The sun rose again outside the window, but Xu Wuyi didn’t stop. Immersed in that subtle sensation, he practiced over and over again, completely losing track of time.

An unknown amount of time passed before a slight wave of dizziness washed over him. Stopping his movements, he stood in place and carefully sensed his condition. Within his sea of consciousness, the pale blue Heart of Order had dimmed considerably, and its rotation had become sluggish. The invisible net deep within his body was also no longer as active as before.

His Power of Heart Image was nearly depleted.

He walked to the corner of the Cultivation Room, sat down in a chair, and took a few sips from his water cup. His mind began to reflect on the cultivation he had just completed. According to the parameters of that rule, he should have gained rewards corresponding exactly to the number of times he had practiced. Although these gains were minuscule, they were undeniably real and slowly accumulating. Once they built up to a certain point, they would trigger a qualitative transformation.

This process required time, patience, and unwavering persistence. But he lacked neither time nor patience. Ever since high school, when he practiced the Basic Body Refining Technique endlessly in that cramped bedroom, he had learned the true meaning of persistence.

He rested for half an hour until his Power of Heart Image recovered slightly, then stood back up and continued to practice.

Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, it was early January.

Xu Wuyi stood firmly in the center of the Cultivation Room, took a deep breath, and slowly assumed his Starting Form. A full month had passed since that day of ten thousand True Enlightenments.

Over the past month, he had spent every day pondering the details of his self-created Body Refining Technique and perfecting the concept of using the Power of Order to refine his physical body. That True Enlightenment had allowed him to see what lay beneath the surface of the “Basic Body Refining Technique”. He had seen the predecessor dressed in coarse clothes, and he had witnessed the sheer will to survive in the harshest of environments using the most primitive of methods. Those images had lingered in his mind, becoming the very foundation upon which he created his own Body Refining Technique.

But truly transforming those insights into a complete Cultivation Technique was far more difficult than he had anticipated. The circulation route of the Power of Order needed to be meticulously designed, the rhythm of refining the body had to be perfectly controlled, and the method of maintaining the rule’s operation had to be finalized. Every detail required repeated scrutiny, and every step demanded endless verification.

He had tried many times, yet with every attempt, he felt that something was missing.
