Chapter 757: Research on the Body Refining Technique

  • Next Chapter

Some Body Refining Techniques used Flame Rules to temper muscles and bones, making them increasingly stronger through repeated burning and repairing. Others used Ice Cold Rules to temper the skin and flesh, allowing them to contract and expand in extreme cold to enhance toughness. Each method had its own rationale, and each provided him with new inspiration.

Time ticked by, and the night outside the window grew darker. Xu Wuyi was so immersed in the data that he completely lost track of time. After an unknown amount of time, Anna’s voice rang out again.

“Grandmaster Xu Wuyi, it is already two in the morning. Do you need to rest?”

Xu Wuyi paused for a moment and looked out the window. It was pitch black outside, with only a few distant streetlights still glowing. He turned off the light screen, stood up, and stretched his body. Tonight’s harvest was substantial; he had basically memorized the core principles of those Body Refining Techniques. The next step was to design his own Body Refining plan based on these principles, combined with his own Rules and Traits.

He walked out of the Cultivation Room, washed up briefly, and lay down in bed. His mind was still dwelling on the details of the Body Refining Techniques, contemplating how to integrate the Order Rules into the tempering process and how to synchronize the improvement of his body and Heart Image. Amidst these thoughts, he gradually drifted off to sleep.

Early the next morning, Xu Wuyi woke up as usual and practiced a set of the Basic Body Refining Technique on the balcony. After finishing his routine, he stood on the balcony, gazing at the distant great river, a general idea forming in his mind.

The core of a Grandmaster Level Body Refining Technique was to temper the body using Rules. His Rules were Order and control. What would be the effect if he used the Power of Order to temper his body? He would let the Power of Order permeate every part of his body—from bones to muscles, from blood to internal organs, from cells to consciousness. Then, he would establish an order there, an order that belonged uniquely to him.

Under this order, every part of his body would operate in the most optimal manner. The flow of Qi and Blood would be faster but not chaotic. The strength of his muscles and bones would be higher but not stiff. The vitality of his internal organs would be more vigorous but not excessively consumed. As long as he wished, his internal organs could shift instantly; he could bring his heart up to his throat or put it back in its proper place.

This was absolute control; this was the power of Order. It wasn’t about strengthening a single aspect, but bringing all aspects to their optimal state and maintaining balance. The more he thought about it, the more feasible this approach seemed. However, exactly how to achieve it still required a massive amount of experimentation and adjustment.

He returned indoors, opened his personal terminal, and began recording his thoughts.

“Phase One: Let the Power of Order permeate the entire body and establish a basic framework of order.

“Phase Two: Based on the basic framework, gradually strengthen each part. First the muscles and bones, then Qi and Blood, then the internal organs, and finally the Spirit.

“Phase Three: Deeply integrate the Power of Order with the physical body in preparation for the third step.”

After writing down these three points, he reviewed them carefully and saved them. This was merely a preliminary idea. Later, it would need to be refined, tested, and continuously adjusted according to actual circumstances. But now that he had a direction, the rest was just taking it step by step.

Since the research on the Body Refining Technique required a long-term effort, Xu Wuyi began to consider another matter. Resources.

His harvest over the past two months or so in Dongjiang Province had all been converted into merit points and deposited into his personal account. He had seen the string of numbers; it was even higher than he had expected. However, leaving these merit points in his account made them nothing more than numbers. He needed to exchange them for tangible resources—things that could aid his Cultivation.

The Federation’s merit system was highly perfected; almost anything could be exchanged. Cultivation Techniques, Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures, weapons and equipment, Cultivation grounds, and even a dedicated research team—as long as one had enough merit points, they could all be redeemed. But for a Grandmaster, truly scarce resources weren’t these ordinary items, but rather the priceless treasures that couldn’t be bought on the open market. Such as rare treasures capable of strengthening muscles and bones, precious medicines for tempering blood, and spiritual materials that stimulated the internal organs. These items were normally never seen and only appeared on specific occasions. Moreover, every time they surfaced, they would be instantly snatched up by Grandmasters.

Xu Wuyi opened the merit exchange system and began browsing the redeemable items. The list was extensive, offering everything from the most common Cultivation resources to the rarest Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures. He scrolled through item by item, bookmarking everything he needed. Items for strengthening muscles and bones, items for tempering blood, items for stimulating the internal organs…

He made a rough calculation. Redeeming all the items he had bookmarked wouldn’t even be considered a major expense in terms of merit points for him. His recent harvest was more than enough, with plenty to spare. He submitted the redemption request, leaned back in his chair, and let out a long breath.

The next step was simply to wait. Those resources couldn’t possibly be delivered immediately. It would take time to gather and transport them. Anywhere from three to five days to as long as half a month was perfectly normal.

…

The following afternoon, the first batch of resources arrived. It was a special vehicle dispatched by the military, driving directly to the ground floor of his apartment building. Two uniformed soldiers carried a silver-white metal case and respectfully handed it over to Xu Wuyi.

The case wasn’t large—about the size of two palms—but it was heavy to the touch, weighing at least several dozen pounds. Xu Wuyi took the case, thanked them, and turned around to head upstairs.

Back in his room, he placed the case on the coffee table and observed it carefully. The case was similar to the one that previously held the chip. It was entirely silver-white, with a surface as smooth as a mirror and without a single visible seam.
