Xu Wuyi opened his eyes, lay there for a moment, then got up to wash up.

After breakfast, he stood on the balcony, looking out at the great river in the distance. The water’s surface sparkled as a few cargo ships slowly passed by, leaving long wakes trailing behind them.

The doorbell rang behind him.

He turned and opened the door. Qiao Zhiyao was standing outside.

The eldest daughter of the Qiao family wore a light blue down jacket and a white scarf today, making her look much softer than before. She held an insulated lunch container, a smile on her face.

“Morning, Senior Brother!” she said, offering the insulated container. “My mom made some soup and asked me to bring it over.”

Xu Wuyi took it and stepped aside to let her in.

Qiao Zhiyao walked into the living room, glanced around, and casually sat on the sofa.

“Senior Brother, are you just planning to stay in like this today?” she asked.

Xu Wuyi nodded. “I’m resting for a few days.”

Qiao Zhiyao let out a soft sound of acknowledgment before suggesting, “How about I take you out for a stroll? There are a lot of fun places in Linjiang.”

Xu Wuyi thought for a moment before shaking his head. “No, thanks. I’ve gained quite a bit recently and need to digest it all.”

“My Grandmaster Senior Brother is simply working too hard,” Qiao Zhiyao teased.

Xu Wuyi stayed in Linjiang for five days.

Over those five days, he barely stepped out of the apartment. His daily routine consisted solely of cultivation, eating, and sleeping. Occasionally, he would stand on the balcony to watch the river scenery and zone out.

Qiao Zhiyao visited often, however. Sometimes she brought soup, sometimes fruit, and other times she just dropped by to sit and chat for a few minutes before leaving.

Knowing that her Senior Brother needed peace and quiet, she never overstayed her welcome.

On the evening of the fifth day, Xu Wuyi was in the Cultivation Room practicing the construction speed of his “Gravity Reversal” when his personal terminal suddenly vibrated.

He paused and glanced at the caller ID. It was Qiao Tongyu.

“Wuyi, are you free? Come to the Battle Group headquarters; there’s something I want to discuss with you.” Qiao Tongyu’s voice came through the terminal, carrying a hint of amusement.

Xu Wuyi gave a hum of agreement, changed his clothes, and headed out.

The Linjiang Battle Group headquarters wasn’t far from his apartment—only a ten-minute walk away.

It was a grayish-white building. It wasn’t particularly tall, but it covered a vast area. Martial Artists stood guard at the entrance, maintaining strict security.

As he walked through the main gates, someone immediately approached and respectfully led him to a conference room on the third floor.

A few people were already seated inside.

Qiao Tongyu sat at the head of the table, flanked by several core members of the Battle Group—all familiar faces. Seeing Xu Wuyi enter, everyone stood up simultaneously.

“Grandmaster Xu.”

Xu Wuyi nodded and took a seat next to Qiao Tongyu.

Qiao Tongyu didn’t beat around the bush. He pulled up a holographic projection and pushed it in front of Xu Wuyi.

“Wuyi, take a look at this first.”

The projection displayed dense message logs originating from all over the Federation. Xu Wuyi quickly skimmed through them and got a general idea of what was going on.

His actions in Dongjiang Province had already spread.

It wasn’t just ordinary rumors; the news had circulated among the upper echelons of the Federation and various Battle Groups.

The messages detailed his process of clearing the seven Rifts, including the number of Star Beasts he had killed, the intact corpses he had preserved, and the time he had spent.

Every statistic was crystal clear, without a hint of exaggeration, but it was precisely this clarity that made it so shocking.

More than twenty thousand Star Beasts, fifty to sixty Great Commanders—all killed in less than two months, with their corpses perfectly preserved.

This combat record would be astonishing for any Grandmaster. More importantly, the attribute of “intact corpse preservation” multiplied the value of this record countless times over.

At the end of the projection was a long list of invitations from Battle Groups all over.

Pointing at the list, Qiao Tongyu began to introduce them one by one.

“Beiyuan Battle Group. They have three Rifts over there, all quite large. Word is there might be a Beast King behind them, but they’re willing to take on all the risks as long as you’re willing to go.

“West Desert Battle Group, whom you’re familiar with. Prince Tamur personally sent a message saying several Rifts in the West Desert are waiting for you to handle. The conditions they’re offering are even more generous than ours.

“East Sea Battle Group. Their Rifts are the most troublesome since they’re all out at sea, but they boast the highest number of Star Beasts. The price they’ve offered is an eighty percent cut of the profits for you, with them taking only twenty percent.

“There’s also Lingnan, Yunmeng, Cangwu…”

Qiao Tongyu read off a long list before finally looking at Xu Wuyi, his eyes filled with a touch of emotion. “Wuyi, you’re a hot commodity right now. The conditions offered by these Battle Groups are higher than the last. I did the math; if you accepted all of them, the profits from this round alone would last you a lifetime.”

Xu Wuyi looked at the list.

He knew the news would spread eventually, but he hadn’t expected it to happen this fast, nor had he anticipated attracting this much attention.

The conditions offered by the Battle Groups were indeed tempting; some even exceeded the seventy percent cut he usually took. But what they coveted wasn’t his combat prowess, but his attribute of “intact corpse preservation.”

There wasn’t a second person in the entire Federation with this capability, making him completely irreplaceable.

“Uncle Qiao, how did you get all these messages from the Battle Groups?” Xu Wuyi asked.

Qiao Tongyu smiled and answered truthfully, “I didn’t seek them out; they came to me on their own initiative.

“Although what you did here in Dongjiang wasn’t made public, it’s no secret within the Battle Group system. Those commanders are well-informed and found out a long time ago.”

He paused for a moment before continuing, “They sought me out because they wanted me to act as a middleman. After all, you started in Dongjiang and are familiar with me. They figured that reaching out to you through me would give them a higher chance of success.”
