Chapter 722: Chapter 696: Shadow Sword Technique

The moment Xu Wuyi stepped into the Rift, his body suddenly sank. It was as if he had been thrown into a completely different world.

The surrounding dark red Energy surged wildly, slithering through the air like countless twisting snakes. Highly corrosive, this Energy attempted to burrow into his skin, seep into his Qi and Blood, and disrupt his perception.

With a mere thought, the Power of Order formed an invisible barrier over Xu Wuyi’s body. The moment the corrosive Energy touched the barrier, it was completely disintegrated, transforming into the most primal particles before dissipating into the air. Consolidating his stance, he began to survey his surroundings.

He was in a long, narrow passageway. However, calling it a passageway was not entirely accurate. It was more like a spatial tear forced open by some unknown power. The gap was about ten meters wide and twenty meters high, flanked by distorted spatial barriers.

These barriers possessed an eerie, semi-transparent quality, faintly revealing the flowing Energy Turbulence behind them. The turbulence was a kaleidoscope of colors—some churned like Flames, some surged like rushing water, and others crackled like lightning.

The floor of the passage was uneven, littered with protruding Energy Crystals that produced a faint CRUNCH with every step. Formed by the long-term accumulation of Energy, these crystals contained such violent power that a mere touch could blow an ordinary person to pieces.

Xu Wuyi walked further down the passage. The deeper he went, the greater the pressure around him became. It wasn’t simply Energy suppression; the entire space was actively rejecting him as an intruder.

This was the norm deep within the Rift. Any creature that did not belong in this space would face instinctual rejection upon entry. The longer they stayed, the stronger the rejection grew, until they were eventually squeezed out entirely. In this regard, it was the exact same for both Human Race Martial Artists and Star Beasts.

Xu Wuyi quickened his pace.

A few minutes later, the passage ahead suddenly opened up into a massive cavern, easily the size of several football fields. The ceiling was a chaotic blur, its true height obscured, while the bottom was a sea of dark red Energy. The Energy rolled sluggishly like magma, radiating terrifying heat.

In the center of this cavern, Xu Wuyi spotted Ren Bai.

The Grandmaster, dressed in a white robe, sat cross-legged on a levitating Energy Crystal. His robe was torn in multiple places, revealing bloody wounds beneath. Yet, his eyes remained as bright and sharp as ever, exuding an unyielding Will.

At a glance, Xu Wuyi could tell that while Ren Bai’s injuries were serious, they hadn’t harmed his foundation. He still had strength to spare.

About two hundred meters in front of him hovered two colossal figures.

They were two Beast Kings.

The one on the left was massive, over fifteen meters long. It resembled a fierce tiger but was covered entirely in pitch-black scales. Gleaming with a dark red hue, each scale was the size of a washbasin and possessed edges as sharp as blades. Its crimson eyes were locked fiercely onto Ren Bai as a low growl rumbled in its throat.

The one on the right was slightly smaller, though still about twelve meters tall. It resembled a giant ape but was covered from head to toe in long, dark red fur. Its arms were disproportionately long, hanging down almost to the ground, and its hands bore razor-sharp claws over ten centimeters long. These claws were also dark red, gleaming with a bloody luster.

Two Beast Kings.

Standing at the entrance of the cavern, Xu Wuyi finally understood why Ren Bai was trapped here. It wasn’t just one Beast King, but two.

Ren Bai was a Grandmaster who had already formed his Domain, and his strength was considered quite impressive even among those at the second step of the Grandmaster realm. If it were only one Beast King—even the stronger Tiger-shaped Beast King—Ren Bai would have been confident in killing or repelling it within three months.

But with two Beast Kings, the situation was entirely different.

The Tiger-shaped Beast King on the left had an aura as deep as an abyss. Surrounded by dense Slaughter Rules, its strength was not the least bit inferior to Ren Bai’s. The Ape-shaped Beast King on the right was slightly weaker, but its aura had also reached the Grandmaster level, clearly marking it as a newly ascended Beast King.

Facing an opponent of the same tier alongside a weaker but still highly threatening foe, the fact that Ren Bai had managed to hold them off for two months without retreating was a testament to his formidable power.

The moment Xu Wuyi appeared, three gazes locked onto him simultaneously.

Ren Bai was the first to react. As he looked at Xu Wuyi, a flash of poorly concealed astonishment crossed his eyes. The surprise was genuine; he truly hadn’t expected this.

He had assumed the Federation would send backup. Given his status and position, the Federation couldn’t possibly sit idly by while he was trapped here. But he never expected Xu Wuyi to be the one to arrive.

Before entering the Rift, he was aware that Xu Wuyi had advanced to Grandmaster, but he hadn’t anticipated the young man coming to his rescue.

How long had it even been?

Sensing the Grandmaster aura radiating from Xu Wuyi, a complex wave of emotion washed over Ren Bai. Among Grandmasters, he wasn’t considered particularly old, but at this moment, he felt as though the new generation was already overtaking the old.

Staring at Xu Wuyi, his voice came out hoarse. “Kid, it’s you?”

Xu Wuyi bowed slightly. “Grandmaster Ren.”

Ren Bai nodded, saying nothing more. Now was not the time to catch up. The two Beast Kings opposite him had already noticed Xu Wuyi’s arrival and were scrutinizing the uninvited guest.

The Tiger-shaped Beast King on the left glared at Xu Wuyi, a glint of wariness flashing through its crimson eyes. It sensed a dangerous aura emanating from him.

This aura wasn’t a suppression of raw power, but something much deeper. It felt as if the very Rules it relied on to survive were becoming completely unstable in the presence of this human.
